  • after 1 month I cheated today!!! help

    I feel very bad, after one month of Atkins and every thing was great and I lost around 20 ,,,, I cheated today on lunch like crazy bread, Pasta, cakes!!!!!!

    I hate my self and I feel guilty and I my body feel like poisned with this food,,, I know I will not do it again but please experts tell me how can fix it and will it affect my kotesis!


    HOW can I FIX thiS!!!

    Hi.
    I think we all would like the opportunity to turn the clock back and do things over but we cannot so we just have to move on. One of the worst things you can do is to wallow in self pity of this. Just move on continue you journey. Examine why you would have made such poor choices and learn from your self examination. Be honest with yourself. But do not wallow.

    If you are still on induction you seem to be a candidate to move to OWL to explore some more options.

      Don't sweat the problem, I teach a youth marksmanship club and one of the philosophies we emphasize is once the pellet leaves the rifle there is nothing you can do to take it back or change the score.

      Dr. Atkins emphasized the fact that we might fall off the wagon. The correct response is to realize the mistake, back up (to induction if necessary) to get back into the fat burning stage and carry on.

      Me, I don't fall for the big stuff, I fall for the little stuff. In the past I would loose a bunch of weight and then figure I could go back to the old habits. Currently, I am under the plan of permanent change.

      To hate yourself only allows you an emotional "out" for an excuse to fall again.

      Give yourself a big hug and get back in it to win it!

          I agree no need in kicking yourself for it or feeling sorry for yourself, that won't accomplish a thing. First try to figure out why you went off. What was the trigger that caused the carb binge? Acknowledge the problem, think of ways to prevent it in the future and move on.

          Yes you'll be knocked out of ketosis but eat clean and you'll be back in, in no time. There will be consequences probably bloating, water retention and just feeling blah. But that is what happens when we make poor choices. Get over it and get on with the rest of your life. Good luck

                I am just echoing everyone else. Don't look back, just pick up where you were and move on. Don't wait for tomorrow. Do it now. What's done is done and nobody is perfect. Don't put your energy into beating youself up, refocus that energy into getting back on plan. Remember why you are doing this, the progress you made and how good it makes you feel.

                Somewhere just remember how you felt after cheating and remember that the next time you are tempted. As others said, be prepared for the next time (because there will be one...none of us are going to get through life without some sort of celebration or special occasion that presents us with these choices). Its mind over matter really. When I am faced with something like that, I ask myself "at the end of the day, what will make me feel better". I am not perfect, I have slipped up but there are plenty of times that has stopped me in my tracks because I remember how I felt after cheating and remind myself that 5 minutes of eating some kind of illegal food, is not worth what follows.

                Anyhoo..sorry for nattering. After I have slipped up, I drink water, water, water (which I do anyway ) and get back on plan, prepare myself for cravings that might come up and get myself through the next day or two.

                  it probably will kick you out of ketosis.. but you got there once.. and you can get there again...

                  not many of us are perfect.. and you made a choice.. to eat stuff.. that now you wish you hadn't...

                  lol.. yeah.. like we haven't done THAT before..

                  isnt' making screwy eating choices why we GOT to be here in the first place...

                  can't change the past... shake it off...... and make better choices today

                  (ditto what everybody else said.. just chiming in to let you know it's ok... few people are perfect.. and life will go on.. )

                    So what were your choices for the rest of the day, tmt?

                    You say you've been doing Atkins for a month. Have you considered moving to OWL?
