OP may run into the same problem I have (we aren't too far apart geographically). I pretty much check the grocery stores every weekend looking for the fresh cream only without much success. Even Whole Foods in my area has just the ultra pasteurized junk... I'm thinking of asking the grocery store manager if this is something they can get in. Maybe more luck asking at Whole Foods though.

or just one more typo in the book..... I think there should be s thread about all of them...

how come chapter 11 isn't the typo.. and page 129 the correct one?

and I'm being serious.. not trying to be argumentative...

there's the same kind of thing with nuts.. it's NO NUTS on induction.. yet there's a page where it says if you're losing too fast.. eat one of two ounces of nuts or seeds (page 140)

just wondering.. seriously.. how do you know that ounces is the typo? (from 129)

No milk on induction. If it is not on the list - do not eat it or drink it. That is the rule.
          Milk is quite sugary.

what if it means you can have 2 or 3 tablespoons of cream in your beverages...(from 127)

AND the 2 or 3 ounces as a special food category.. (129)

              Re: Heavy Cream

In DANDR 2002 Chapter 11, heavy cream is mentioned twice. In the beverage section it is listed as 2-3 tablespoons. In the Special Category foods, it is listed as 3 ounces (fluid ounces).

The caveat with the Special Category Foods is that they may result in a weight loss stall, so they may have to be avoided during Induction. So the Special Category Foods are that "special": so while they aren't off-limits, their frequency on your menu may have to be limited to a couple times a week, etc. because of their ability to have a bad effect on weight loss.

The beverages section of the hard-cover DANDR 2002 states that you are allowed to have those beverages in addition to your daily water of 64 fluid ounces. The paperback/soft cover does not mention this "in addition to" thing.

              RE: milk

DANDR 2002 says that the only dairy you are allowed to have during Induction phase is cream, butter or cheese. So while these foods are made from milk, milk isn't allowed. See, when cream, butter or cheese is made, the lactose (milk sugars) are removed partially or completely, resulting in a product that is fat (like butter or cream) or a combination of fat and protein (like cheese).

RE: eating nuts if you are losing too much weight too fast.

That's a special case. Dr. Atkins wanted you to add an extra serving of veggies or 1 or 2 ounces of nuts because fast weight loss---one so fast that it results in weakness---depletes one's body of vital minerals and vitamins. So by adding the extra helping of veggies or the nuts, one could replenish those minerals and vitamins. He also says that as soon as your weakness subsides you should return to a lower carb level (ie: stop eating the extra veg and nuts.) So it's not like you are allowed to eat "extra veg" and nuts during Induction---it's only under specific conditions which Dr. Atkins allows you to do that, then you resume Induction.

You are correct (in my opinion) that you can choose to have 2-3 ounces of cream or one of the several other options on the special category list now and again in addition to the usual limits on the main induction foods list. But be careful to take note of how it affects your progress and if you suspect it is harming that then drop it.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                  ya ultra-pasturized is nasty stuff

                  The Weston A. Price Foundation

you want to drink raw milk and like raw heavy cream

the problem though alot of the time raw milk/heavy cream is illegal to be sold so just pasturized we can get but atleast pasturized is better than ultra-pasturized

The bottomline is what to believe:

What is written in black and white: ie documented

                        Or

What is recalled from memory---which may or may not be accurately recalled: in other words, hearsay.
