Wow! The author of that article is totally clueless about Atkins!

Re: Atkins in the paper this morning!

here in the US, I mentioned earlier that there's a huge tv/print ad campaign now touting the 'lose up to 15 pounds in 2 weeks'.. with courtney thorne smith (a former huge tv star).. in the pictures...

I think this new media push is one reason there's so many new ones lately....

the whole raw steak image is just wrong..
      2-15-10 194.8 - highest ever!
      2-20-10 190.4 - new scale
      3-20-10 177.8 - 1 month
      5-10-10 169.8 - 25 pounds gone!

If you are going to follow Atkins WOE by the new book, why buy the book if they have the whole plan on Atkins.com?

Well, my experience with "the plan" on Atkins.com is that it's inaccurate. They haven't had "green beans" on the Induction food list since August of 2008. Their carb counts aren't always accurate.

And the "condensed" version you get there is no substitute for the whole book.

And if you haven't read the book, how do you know if you're getting correct advice ... or even if what "they" tell you is correct?

I am not speaking of the 2002 DANDR. If they have a NEW book out (which I am sure is put out by the people who run Atkins.com), I would imagine that their website reflects the NEW book. If you go around their website, you will find most of the answers you are looking for. Their 'classes' pretty much cover most of what's in 2002 DANDR with some modifications.

the veggie list in the new 2010 book is the same as the veggie list in 2002 but not on the Atkins website.
there is conflicting info on the website between different induction pages even about how to do induction and what is and isn't legal.

if one wants to do 2010 it would be nice to have the book so one understand the science behind what is what with the plan and knows what will happen with the correct or incorrect choices one makes.

They are not the same... there are differences between them.

                          the sweet, sexy science?

i wholeheartedly agree, i thought I could do Atkins a couple of months back by just reading the website, but did not do very well. The book is invaluable....I especially like his encouraging writing style.

Re: Atkins in the paper this morning!

What is cool is that to do Atkins you don't even have to buy a book. They offer all the information for free and have lessons and tools to help you get going and lose weight.

That to me is one of the best things over any other plan to lose weight. No one else is free. You have to pay for a website, or book, or food. Not on Atkins.

They have recently updated everything on the Atkins website and are adding more and more things.

There is no substitute for reading ALL the books but the website is a great start and can help you change your life. I think on Atkins there is a natural progression to want to learn more.

ETA: I also cringe everytime I see Atkins in the news.. I always have hope it will be a good report but many many times it is misrepresented. What a shame. It could help so many if only they understood it.

"They have recently updated everything on the Atkins website"

                              They mostly updated the sexy.

Their list of induction acceptable foods is still wrong.
