Re: Atkins in the paper this morning!

Baylor.. are you saying that you prefer to follow the new 2010 book rather than the book we follow here?? You seem to be a cheerleader for the new book I guess is all I am saying. So do you advice throwing away the 2002 version and hoping onto the 2010 new book that's at my Walmarts for 10 bucks?

I like having ALL the information. I don't think that there is a wrong version of Atkins. Some will stick to one book and follow that and some will embrace the new information and follow that. What I think is people should read it all and find how to make Atkins work for them. We all have different lifestyles, tastes, preferences and I think that the more you know, The better you will do.
If you do buy the new book there is a rebate coupon for 3.00 at Atkins.com.

I love the 2002 book and am not even tempted by the new book and couldn't have done this diet by just looking on the net.I really think you have to understand the science behind it and once it's all in your head you just get it! Reading deep into it gives you the knowledge to be successful....having said that it isn't a fad diet and the only cost is your food unlike other diets where you pay for membership and classes.........I think this board is a great help and you can find all sorts of answers for free!

Thin I agree....but some people are all giggly with the 2010 version...I guess I am one of those peeps that if something is working, I am not tempting it....I would rather stay with what has worked..I thought maybe I was missing something...

              >> They have recently updated everything on the Atkins website>>

They why is the carb count for cheddar cheese still wrong?

Why is the list of Induction foods still missing green beans ... or string beans?

Why are the carb counts of the herbs and spices wrong?

Why are some of the Induction vegetables from DANDR 2002 no longer on the list ... such as beet greens, celeriac?

I would not want to rely on the information at Atkins.com to tell me how to do Atkins!

When you're a success story in the book ... and you've been paid, it's hard not to be a cheerleader for it!

What a chip you have when it comes to me. AS a fellow Atkins eater, I would think you would be happy for anyone who does Atkins and is a success.

I love Atkins. I live Atkins and I so excited that I am part of the new book. It is a dream come true. I am sure it would be for many people.

I lost 95lbs on Atkins. I am so close to goal I can taste it! I hope that the new book really helps get more and more people on board.

                    So do I.

I just hope they don't rely on what Atkins.com is selling them ... I hope they READ the book.

If you go to Atkins.com and never see a book It is still enough information to help you get going on Atkins and be successful. It may not be as complete and there may be a few glitches but so what? They can ask and get help from there or even here.

I don't see the need to knock some thing that makes the information free to people. It is a way to reach many people and get them on board to change their lives. Get them healthy.
So while it may not be perfect, It is a really really good start.

Re: Atkins in the paper this morning!

I would never know I could eat green beans.

I would think that cheddar cheese has no carbs.

I would think that some spices have no carbs.

                        >>there may be a few glitches but so what? T>>

So what? It's the "glitches" that tell me a lot ... why in almost two years haven't they been able to get green beans on the Induction food list? Why haven't they been able to get the carb counts of some items correct in well over 5 years?

                        >>It is a really really good start>>

A good start yes ... but I can't see anyone getting to the "finish" without reading the book ... be it DANDR or the new one.

I guess I am not as upset about it because people can live without green beans. It is not like it is going to ruin their plan.

I think that anything that promotes Atkins is great. That they make it all free even better.

Just wondering why it is so important to you to promote a website that is not in keeping with 2002 DANDR, on a board that supports 2002 DANDR...

As mentioned in the earlier thread that discussed the differences between the new book and 2002 DANDR, it is fine to have the occasional thread comparing the two. Not too crazy about promoting the other website all over this board, though.

Baylor, I'm just curious... if you are such a big fan of the atkins.com website and the new book, why do you spend so much time on this site, complaining when people are not comfortable embracing the other site? Did you read the mission statement when you joined ADBB?
