Re: Gum!!!
I checked a lot of them and they all contained Aspartame which to my understanding it is not good at all.Originally posted by callog View PostI usually just buy the sugar free kind. When you subtract the sugar alcohol from the carbs the net carbs are zero. But I usually do not have more than two sticks of it a day. And I don't chew it everyday.highest 230 ---- started atkins------current 175 lbs

What's your "syrup" made from?
I am using Maple Grove Farms Sugar free "butter Flavor" syrup sweetened by splenda and a supporter of children with diabetes but you can only take the induction allow which is 3 of those so it is either the gum or the syrup lol.highest 230 ---- started atkins------current 175 lbs

Re: Gum!!!
Like I said previously, all of the major brand sugar-free gums have aspartame, except Dentyne.Originally posted by cleochatra View PostI've read that Orbit is also without aspartame. Erythritol or xylitol sweetens that one.
All of the Wrigleys, which includes Orbit, have aspartame AND acesulfame K (Ace-K) and sucralose.

Re: Gum!!!
Hi Summer,
This may sound a little ghetto, but what I do is just bite of a small piece of one piece of gum, (say about 1/4 or 1/3) and it works just as well as providing a fresh clean feeling. That way, in one day, I only end up having 1 or 1/2 a piece of gum and I have more room for Splenda, if I choose to have it.
Also, bad breath is sometimes caused by ketosis, but it can also be exacerbated by eating more protein and dairy products. I floss and use a tongue scraper and mouthwash every day (newlywed
and have not noticed an increase in sour mouth. Sometimes it can be the food you're eating. The tongue is always an indicator. It should always be pink and not whitish or yellowish.
