Yup, 8000 cal. I lift very, very heavy weights and at a very high intensity level. I did 12 sets of leg exercises this morning, totaling 143 reps and I squat 1.5 X's my body weight. I completed my morning routine in 30 minutes.

Now off I go to do interval cardio, where I expend most of my energy sprinting up an incline until muscular failure (fatigue).

I think this is a case of "consider the source." They need to study early human evolution and survival to see what kind of silly statement they made about what it is that humans are "programmed" to eat. Early human beings ate meat and fat and things that grew from the ground - some fruits when available, which wasn't available all that often due to the cold ice age, and some nuts when available and yes, some grains when available. They would not have DIED without the grains especially if they had had available to them the vegetable assortment that we Atkin's followers have. Their diet was mainly meat, fat and greens from the ground. This is how the human nutrition was for eons - it's only recently that sandwiches made with baloney and cheese became the norm along with those Count Chokula breakfast cereals

It was a silly article by a person ignorant of food and nutrition and human evolution.

Interesting this is an Indian publication badmouthing Atkins....the Indian diet is one of the highest carb diets out there. I'd like to know more about who owns the website and what other companies/stocks they have. Always follow the money.....

Very, very true. Agriculture pretty much happened around 10,000 years ago compared to humans (albeit, slightly different than us now) 50 million years or so.

From the article: "110g-170g of protein with each meal – equivalent to one small steak." Sorry, but you are lucky to get 20-30 grams of protein maximum from a small steak. They do not know that on Atkins, even on the strict induction phase, we are allowed green leafy vegetables. Then we slowly add carbohydrates until we find our carb set point. The media believe Atkins is all about eating steak, eggs and bacon all day long. They have no in depth clue.
