Just wondering if anyone takes suppliments?

Before Atkins I started taking multi-vitamins, CLA (amino acid b/c I don't eat Beef), Vitamin B12 (my levels are borderline low), Folic Acid (my levels are also borderline low), Chromium ( to help stablize my blood sugar throughout the day), Guarana (natural caffiene), Natural/Pure Acai berry (natural appetite suppressant & increases metabolism), and Calcium with Vit D & Magnesium.

    Just wondering about everyone else.

        LOL!

i should really take vitamins, but for some reason I can't get it through my head to remember every day.
        When i was taking a multi-pack it had: Bcomplex, C, D, E, omega 3, chromium and calcium.

chromium works so well for curbing the sweet tooth.

A multivitamin without iron and essential oils.

Natural/Pure Acai berry (natural appetite suppressant & increases metabolism)
Do you have any proof for that or are you just trusting the ads?

The acai berry works for me! It's really curbed my appetite, pre-Atkins. As for the metabolism, not sure... but the appetite supression seems to be true.

I take the pure form, no added junk in it.

                          Re: Anyone take suppliments?

Choline is involved in fat metabolism and in the transport of fats from the liver.

Inositol used with choline, inositol helps to metabolize fats and cholesterol in the arteries and liver. It also helps to promote the body’s production of lecithin (fatty acids). Inositiol supplements are sometimes used medically for people with diseases that cause disturbances in fat metabolism. People who are depressed have much lower-than-normal levels of inositol in their spinal fluid. In addition, inositol participates in the action of serotonin, a neurotransmitter known to be a factor in depression.

Vanadium- One of the supplements recommended by Dr. Atkins. It is an trace mineral that we need for normal functioning. Vanadium plays a significant role in the metabolism of carbohydrates. Also helps in metabolism of cholesterol and blood lipids. Vanadium has been found to be necessary for tooth and bone development.

L-Carnitine is a naturual occuring amino acid. It increases the use of fat as an energy source by transporting fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they are ‘burned’ to release energy for body functions.

Biotin is a B vitamin that's needed for the formation of fatty acids and glucose, which are essential for the production of energy. It also helps with the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

CoQ10 is a naturally occuring compound found in every cell in the body. It plays a key role in producing energy in the mitochondria, the part of a cell responsible for the production of energy in the form of ATP.

Garlic has been found to have antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal activity. Helps lower blood pressure by inhibiting vascular calcification in the arteries in patients with high blood cholesterol, among many other health benefits.

                          Hawthorn
is an herb that has been used for heart disease in herbal medicine for centuries. It has also been used for digestive and kidney problems.

Cayenne is an herbal that helps stimulate blood flow and helps with digestive issues.

I can see why the 3 herbs would make a great mix for anyone not just an Atkineer.

                            Re: Anyone take suppliments?

I take two multivitamins a day, two VD's, iron supplement, and a couple of other things also. I must do all this per dr. instructions, he keeps a close eye on my blood levels and this is what is necessary to keep them correct - I have a lot of deficiencies due to prior health issues.

I have noticed that a lot of people talk about NOT taking iron, is there a purpose to this? I keep thinking that I must have missed something in the book about iron and the diet. But - I must take it, I have a serious deficiency.

With atkins our diet is high in iron rich foods so taking extra iron could result in constipation or mimic hemachromatosis
