Re: End of 14-day Induction and...

Congratulations! And you are worth it!

Personally if you are happy with induction and don't want other foods stay on it for another week. But you may not see a dramatic weight loss this 3rd week and may need to go onto OWL. Remember OWL RUNG 1 is just additional veggies. I personally do well with more veggies and a couple gallons of water a day.

You'll figure it out with these nice folks giving you advice.

      >>I don't intend to stay on Induction until I lose 100 pounds. I plan to stay on there until I have lost a significant amount of weight seeing as how I have sooo much to lose.>>

Sorry, it was KittyKatz who wrote about the 100 pounds. Sorry my reply wasn't clear as to whom I was addressing.

What's your "significant" amount of weight that you want to lose in Induction? Why do you think Induction is the phase to do that?

      >> I'm afraid that if I move to OWL any time soon, I'll be out of ketosis and hungry, hungry, hungry.>>

You'll still be in ketosis on OWL. Actually, you should be in ketosis while you're doing Atkins ... ketosis is just shorthand for "burning fat".

Dr Atkins in DANDR says if we have in chapter 13 if we have a lot of weight to lose we might want to do inductiion for quite a while. its on page 159 of the paperback and it is the first section after the CCLL charts called more induction. He specifically says " before you even think about stepping up from induction, consider the possibility of staying with it a while longer."

Sure sounds like he is recommending staying with extended induction and not moving to OWL immediately after 14 days.

If one answeres the questions in chapter 13 one will know when it is time to move to OWL as part of our Atkins weight loss program.

I stayed on induction for I don't know 4, 5 weeks something like that. I have absolutely no regrets. I took the test in the book and it was fine to stay on, no matter what anyone else thinks. I think some move on too quickly before they get a good grasp on the plan. Then they are given more options and cant' handle it. I know I was NOT ready to move on at 2 weeks, I was just learning the program well at that time, would have been too early for ME.

Re: End of 14-day Induction and...

Read the book...over and over. Use it to cross reference your questions and goals.

IF you are comgortable on Induction and feel good about your progress, feel safe in understanding the words as written by Dr. Atkins.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, allow anyone to convince you to move to OWL until it is what you want to do.

If you make your decisions about the Atkins Plan based on the opinions of others, you will get bounced around like a basketball. This will INCREASE your chances for FAILURE!

First, follow the plan, keep the book handy and trust in Dr. Atkin's advice.

Second, make sure you keep the plan regarding water and nutrients.

Third, do anything necessary to keep your mental focus POSITIVE. If that means ignoring those who insist on being negative, then do so. It's the healthy YOU you are trying to uncover. There are plenty of positive minded individuals here in the forum willing to help you when things get at odds. No need to lose faith in yourself, the plan or your progress.

You have made the right step in starting, you have made a great start in the program, now it is up to you to take this on as a change in life and not a "diet".

              Congrats, we're all behind you!
