  • Good advice needed on stalling

    Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me. I have been on Atkins diet for 5 months now since my goal was to loose 30 kilos. I have lost 23 kilos and it has been fantastic! I am SO happy. I can wear jeans again, high heels etc.

However a month ago the weight loss stopped. The scale has been cyckling up and down around 76-78 kilos and I do not know WHY ?

I have been stubborn because I feel that when I have been able so far I do NOT want to quit this close to my goal. I have been through "stalling" periods before, where I just continued and then after a week or two the scale began to move downwards again.

It is hard to motivate myself day after day with NO weightloss at all.
(I have been adding more vegetables (carbs) to go onto (OWL) "ongoing weightloss". (I am not on induction anymore.)

P.S. I am doing 90 minuttes of hot yoga every day.

Can anyone please give me some advice on what could be happening and what I can do to get the weightloss started again ?

    Hugs

best thing to do is post a typical day of food (and drink) with the carb counts and let the experts have at it.

are you still on induction btw? if so you should really move onto OWL.. if anything that will spike the weightloss.

      That's good.

      What rung of OWL, actually?

And you might want to change your Atkins phase so it's more up-to-date.

Have you been measuring. I lost plenty of inches doing exercise last year and went down sizes but scale did not show it. Because exercise and Atkins I think I can wear clothes several sizes smaller now than last time I was this weight - which is cool. I am just firmer.

Hi thanks for your qwuick answers.

I dont understand your expression "what rund of OWL" ? And what do you mean by "change my atkins phase"? I have the book and I have been quite succesful loosing appx. 1 kilo pr week since i began. I eat bacon and eggs, appx. 30 grams of veggies (green), I eat fish and chicken, kamb, minced meat and butter, olive oil and mayo. No fruit or bread, sugar, coffee or alcohol. I dont know If that was what you meant by describing the carbs ?

And yes I measure and I havent lost any weight eather in kilos or in size for 1 month now. Since I started the diet I have gone 10 sizes down so I am quite happy - it is just strange that the weightloss stopped since i didnt really change anything exept from adding a few carbs every week.

In your user preferences you can change the phase you are in to reflect where you are.

Thanks for the menu but if there is an issue with menu you need to sort of give us a clearer idea like

            Breakfast
            2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 tsp butter, 1/2 tomato

            Lunch
Salad: 1 cup romaine, 1/2 cup peppers, cucumber and celery, 1 chicken breast, 2 tbs mayo

            Drink: Water 64 oz
Coffee with cream and splenda (2 cups)

Re: Good advice needed on stalling

I thought for awhile that I was "stalling" because the scale was going up and down around the same number for about 5 weeks. Then, voila, I dropped about 4 lbs overnight and have been steadily losing around 1lb per week since then. I think I personally experience major water fluctuations and I have steadily lost 1 lb of fat per week, but all of the water fluctuations mask the fat losses each week. I would suggest not weighing for a few more weeks, then doing more of a monthly average on your weight rather than a weekly weigh in or more.

Good luck and hang in there. I was getting really frustrated too, but there is no sense in quitting. Why, so you can go back to your old lifestyle that did not work to begin with? Atkins works. Have faith.

Just a psychological tip - don't let yourself think you need "motivation" to get through it. All you need is to come to the realization that this is how you are going to eat for the rest of your life. Then, following plan is a learned behavior rather than a punishment. I don't need motivation to go to work every morning or to brush my teeth. I do it because that is my way of life. I think its all mind over matter and most people quit because they talk themselves out of it or rationalize quitting. Don't give yourself the option.

Re: Good advice needed on stalling

Dr. Atkins defined a weight loss plateau as 4 consecutive weeks without the loss of pounds OR inches. That's because Dr. Atkins believed the loss of inches was a more reliable indicator of weight loss (fat loss) because it proved the fat was emptying from our cells. So if you are losing inches off your body, you are not in a stall at all and there's no need to worry.

                      Hi

Carbonator; thanks a lot for reminding me. Thats true. I just dont really understand why the weightloss / inch loss has stoppet. That is all. I dont understand it. I have taken two major desicions about sugar and wheat 4 the rest of my life. It is okay.

not2late.; I am not loosing inches eather.

I am eating like I have been doing throughour the entire period (5 months) and during this period I lost 24 kilos. (appx 53 lbs.). The last 4 weeks there has been NO weight or inch loss.

I don't think that is unusal. What size are you now?

Re: Good advice needed on stalling

I went from size 54 to size 38. My jeans are size 29/30.

I am 1 meter and 69 centimeter tall. I am 47 years old. When i began my Atkins I weighed 99 kilos.(218 lbs).
My first goal was to loose 20 kilos. When I reached that goal I decided to loose at least another 10. My goal is to end on 65 kilograms. I now weigh 76.
I havent been down on 65 since before I got my second child when i was 28. I will be satisfied with 70 kilograms

Okay I can try to give an example on a daily menu:

                          Breakfast:
2 eggs & 4 slices bacon, decaf coffee with a little cream.

                          Lunch:
1 cup of fresh spinach leaves with 1 can of tuna. 4 macadamia nuts, 1 cherry tomato, a half green pepperfruit and a dressing made of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of dijon mustard. mayonaise and capers.

                          Dinner:
1 beef fried in butter, a handful of green haricot vertes, 4 small rose cabbage and some mayonaise and parmesan cheese on top.

                          Evening;

Celestial tea (decaf) with a spoon of fresh lemon and one teaspoon of "Sukrin".

                          Hugs Shannon

I think you could eat more veggies. Sometimes that just makes things move.
On rung one you should eat your induction level veggies plus an extra 5 net carb worth of veggies but you are not doing that. I assume pepperfurit is what we call green pepper, haricort vertes are green beans and rose cabbage is brussel sprouts?
Do you know how many net carbs you are getting. I would aim for at least 17 net carbs on OWL rung one.
Do you drink plenty of water? Have you added in exercise?

Hi Yes that is correct what you mention (names of veggies.) Yes I do 90 minuttes of Hot Bikram Yoga every day. Yes i drink at least 2 liters water every day.

Maybe I am not eating enough veggies but it can vary from the described. Induction I had 20 grams a day and I have added more sice then.

I had an idea of trying to begin to eat fruit in the morning since that is actually the only thing i really miss. Havent had anything like it for soooo long)

What do you think of that plan?
