Thanks! I'm happy for me too!! It really just is the proper way to eat for your body. I am so convinced of it. Exercise has shown to help w/ anxiety as well, btw, so if you have stress/anxiety a long walk or pumping iron might help you too.

My skin used to break out horribly. Now it is completely clear.

I recommend Julia Ross' book The Mood Cure in addition to the Atkins book for overall mental and physical wellness.
        Hi Cleo,

Y'know, I took 5-HTP for a while, but recently switched to L-Tryptophan. Do you have any comments/recommendations either way?

Also, may I ask what you take GABA for? And does it help? I have a container of it, but stopped taking it because it didn't seem to be helping (quite a while ago).

edit: Oh, looks like GABA is for anxiety -- cheers May I ask how much you use? You can DM/PM me if you want

Tryptophan is another option in lieu of the HTP. It's good stuff, too! I tend towards 25 mg of the 5-HTP 2 times per day. My 17 year old son started taking the HTP and he feels so happy now. It really brought him out of a funk. The aminos are just such a miracle (and yet shouldn't be since they're natural). Are you liking the Tryptophan? I have heard great things about it!

GABA is for anxiety. You know within 15 minutes of taking it whether it's needed or not. It freaked me out, so I decided I didn't have anxiety. lol

The most wonderful thing about aminos is that one only needs to take them for a few months before you're back to brain happiness! Much nicer than feeling like you're chained to a regimen for years.

            Cleo,

I am liking Tryptophan. It's similar to and yet a bit different from 5-HTP. It's definitely providing my brain with more serotonin, because I'm having more and more vivid dreams. I feel like in many ways it's more potent than 5-HTP.

Has anyone noticed better dental health on Atkins?

I still have almost crippling migraines, but with less frequency. I get them 2-3 times a week instead of 6-7. I have been to a Dr. about them and had all sorts of tests done, they have no idea why I get them. I have had them since about 14.

Some of my female issues(cramps) have disappeared. I have not had a panic or anxiety attack in months either. I almost had one this week(panic) but I calmed down n my own.

i have better dental health on atkins

but of course every once in a while i still need to use a little metal scraper thing to scrape the plaque off my teeth which forms 10x faster on my 4 bottom middle teeth guess cause its more wet there but it's the most easy spot to clean so i can clean it in half a sec with the metal scraper tool i got but once a year i get plaque on my other teeth that are harder to reach with my crappy tool i want a real dentist metal scrape tool thing but i don't know where they sell em but anyways i can still clean the other parts its just alot harder with only the tool i have

                      Menopause might relieve them.

Did any women in your family have them?

I really don't want to go through menopause right now, I am a bit young. I am not too concerned though as the Dr's I have seen said I am not in any danger as nothing is wrong with me. I have been told it is most likely hormonal, my aunt had them.

I wasn't suggesting your go through menopause now. I was just giving you "hope" for the future!

                          Mine went away with menopause.

My feet used to hurt so bad in the morning. It was hard to come down the stairs. All better!!! I woke every morning with swelling.

I have more energy, I'm off the blood pressure meds. My allergies cleared up, but as I went up the rungs they've come back, but I'm usually okay without taking anything for them. Used to have to take a Sudafed.

Digestion is much better. Mood swings are way less often. Used to have hot flashes, still get them occassionally, but nowhere near as much!

Husband says I'm taller, but I think it's from the core exercises, I hold myself straighter.
