  • No pain no gain?

Day 3 of induction. I feel like CRAP. I can't function with a foggy brain and a headache. Do people get sore throats on induction?

    I have a big meeting in20 minutes and I can't function

While everyone is different, the "cleansing" effect of Atkins does haves the downside of a period of cruddiness as your body detoxifies.

Remember, we are no better or no worse than any other substance abuser. Our problem is that alcoholics can stay away from places where alcohol is found. As a self proclamed foodaholic, I have to admit, it is absolutely impossible to get away from food.

Keep following the plan. After 3 days you, hopefully, should be approaching a point where you will begin feeling better than you have in a long time. It may be a day, or 2. Or it could be longer, but the stricter you stick to the plan, the more you will appreciate the "release" when you leave detox and head for healthier days!

      We're pulling for you!

If you have a sore throat, you most likely have a real cold.

No not a cold, my throat is just a little scratchy and sore. I know it will pass but I just felt very bad and YES I am being extremely strict about this for the next 11 days until the cruise. I need to get rid of those cravings (which have subsided thankfully).

i am just sooo tired and have no energy.

Going back to Induction, assuming you were eating on plan while on OWL, shouldn't really produce any "side effects".

i disagree, i think anyone that goes from rung 6 to induction will have side effects like i am having for the last 24 hours. yes, the reason i did was because of the cravings and some food(s) affected it. but we can agree to disagree. going from 35-40 grams a day to under 20 is a shock to my body. i needed it.

Not suggesting it's not a shock.

However, the side effects of Induction are generally related to detoxing the body from "sugar".

That shouldn't have been the issue with going from 35-40 to 20.

And, not to beat a dead horse, but you do mean NET carbs, right?

I think it's probably just a cold as well. Going from 40 net carbs to 20 shouldn't make you that uncomfortable. Could you be pregnant? Fatigue, poor concentration and a sore throat were my only symptoms.

I can't help you with the sore throat or the lack of pregnancy , but I can tell you from personal experience the crappy feelings will go away. You just have to ride them out.

What about allergies? There is a lot more pollen this year than usual, through out the states, a lot of people are reporting allergies and they never had them before.

Yes 35-40 net carbs before. I was well above 50 some days, gross, before.

Gonna ride it thru I know I will come out a stronger person at the end. I needed to refocus and stop the sugar cravings. It's working. So far a successful, but uncomfortable day 3. This is why I call induction torture...and why I hate it. I hope this is the last time.

i have never had allergies before so I don't know...

Hmmm, I'm in OWL Rung 6 (~45-55g net carbs/day) and am doing basically Induction level carbs during Boot Camp. Not a shock to my body at all...just missing some of my food choices. Having ~20g net carbs less a day should not be that traumatic to the system.

With the sore throat thing, my guess is that something else is going on. Of course, we could agree to disagree too. Hope you feel better soon esp. before your cruise.

I don't know what's going on but that's why I titled my thread what it is.

I hope it passes very shortly too. I obviously know something was wrong before in order for me to be like this now. Maybe I slept too much. I feel better this afternoon and took my daughter the playground. Although I have had a headache for two days.
