  • I hate summer

Lately, my weight started creeping up towards the 180lbs. mark despite my having no changes in my diet and physical activity. After trying several things, I found out that the recommended 8 glasses plus 1 glass / 25lbs wasn't cutting it. After increasing my water intake to 14 glasses a day, I whooshed back down to 175lbs.

Apparently the summer heat has been causing me to retain water.

:wave Check your salt and potassium intake during hot weather. When I do 4-6 hours of heavy lawn mowing in warmer weather I make sure I have enough salt and potassium with my water it helps stop the water retention.

Water...it's amazing! I'll certainly keep that in mind as it starts to warm up here. Well, theoretically it's gonna warm up here. I'm looking at snow falling right now. Blaaaah.....

35c/95f forecasted for tomorrow and it's still expected to climb as the month goes on.

I only wish water could solve my PC overheating problems.

I'd better look up potassium rich foods. I know bananas are high in potassium but are very high in carbs too.

I take a potassium (and I think it has magnesium too) supplement on heavy aerobic work-out days when I've sweat a lot (usually running and cycling days). Maybe I'll incorporate that into really hot days too.

Thanks for the link. I think I've got the beef, fish, and greens mostly covered, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to look for a potassium supplement. Centrum Silver only has 2%DV potassium.

Thanks DT. Yeah, even on cold months the temp here is about the same as summer in most temperate countries. Here in the city, it's either pretty hot or pretty wet. I can't wait for monsoon season. I like rain, though I can live without the floods.

I think it's a lot cooler where Shawnee stays when he's in the country. Maybe I should plan a visit to his farm, hehe.

Also, if you can find it, the Morton Lite Salt is made from potassium chloride and has alot less sodium than regular salt although it tastes the same! A great way to get some additional potassium!

Its hot here too and we've got 5 straight months of 90+ to go!! :yikes WATER WATER WATER !!
