  • What two days of eating deli meats did to me

    I am so livid with myself. I was lazy for a couple days this week and didn't cook for myself. The meat I ate was all deli meat, ie, hot dogs, bologna, some processed chicken. On the third day, I stepped on the scale and I was up 9 pounds!!!!!!!!! I kid you not, I was 9 lbs heavier overnight. There is no other reason I could have possibly retained that much water (not TOM), but the horrendous sodium in the deli meats.

    I implore all of you, eat deli meats rarely, or avoid them all together (what I usually do, and will from now on), or suffer the consequences!!

    BTW, this morning, I am down two lbs, but I really am scared I will lose a lot of electrolytes as I get rid of that water in the next couple of days.

    Yeah, a high sodium content in food can do that to you.

          I also found that out for myself. It seems with me doing this WOE I find out new things about what I can and what I can't eat all the time. Sometimes I get so frustrated with myself, I even have had arguements with myself (no I am not losing it) about what I just ate. I have NEVER been so lable crazy in all my life. If there is anything on that lable that rhyms with "GROSS", I don't eat it.

                  My experience is that the deli's pepporoni is carb free. I have had success with that. Otherwise, I avoided all other deli meats.

                    Up 9 pounds in 2 days? I wouldn't have even guessed that deli meats could be so horrible in this diet. Now I definetly know to stay away from them

                          Well, I lost all that weight, thank god!! That was rough.

                          G-Mom, when did you start doing atkins?
                          I started doing Atkins on June 28, 2003, with about three setback periods where I gained back some weight. I have been cheat-free for several months now.
