  • "You're too thin, don't lose anymore!"

Okay, why do people say this?

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to get the compliments. It's wonderful when I see someone I haven't seen in a while, since sometimes I now forget that I used to look different. But...I'm absolutely not too thin. I'm just right. Actually, I could stand to lose ten more, but if i didn't, that would be okay too.

But there are a few people that say this to me all the time. And a couple of them keep asking me if I've lost more weight (I haven't). Then they tell me to be careful.

    What's with that?

I get that alot now as well. People seemed to be more comfortable dealing with me pudgy for some reason? And those are my friends, who I would assume have my best interests in mind...lol.

I wish I knew the true meaning behind the comments. A couple of em are pudgy, so I could chalk that up to some minor envy. But the thin as rail ones that I can now swap clothes with? Makes no sense to me either!

If you figure it out, write a book and sell millions. Dedicate it to Wyatt, who is too thin too!

I am having people tell me I don't need to lose any more weight and I have a bunch more to lose. So I don't know what these comments are all about.

I guess, we just need to stay focused and go for the gold (goal). We know what we need to do, even if others disagree.

Maybe for those well meaning friends & loved ones - since they are so used to your old (fat) self, now that they're seeing a big difference in your size (slimmer/sexier), they're thinking that it's not the normal you. That's why, they're telling you that you shouldn't lose more. Coz they keep on thinking of your old image and now that you look stunningly different - they just don't want to accept the fact that you can improve so much more than where you are right now. :yes

Or maybe for others ... just plain envy coz you're looking great & they're not or seeing you as a competition now, unlike before. :guns

I just take it as a compliment! I've had many people ask me if I plan on losing anymore, because they say I look great.

Sometimes people don't have the right words to use, and they mean it as "you've lost so much weight and you look slim." You know, sometimes the strangest words come out of people's mouths (including mine).

I have 23 more lbs. I'd like to lose yet, so I am always flabbergasted when people say I look great.

Like I said, just take it as a compliment! :hug

I agree!!! It is a compliment when others tell us we don't need to lose more.
When I think that I have lost 92 pounds and have 16 to 20 to go to get to goal. I am overwhelmed!!! For so many years I have needed to lose 100 plus pounds and now it is so much less. I am just overwhelmed.!!!!!!

Have a happy low carb day, everyone!!!

                  Jealousy and loss of attention!

I figure that when people make that comment to me it is either because they are jealous or because it bothers them that I am getting the attention that they used to.

Maybe if you live in America or England where obesity is really high, its because they have seen so many obese people that they think overweight is the norm... It's as if they lose their sense of being able to judge a perfect weight anymore.
I dont know its just a theory.

I've heard that a million times. I just say, I won't tell you not to gain any more if you tell me not to lose any more.

I know exactly what you mean. My goal weight is exactly the weight I used to be before I put on all this extra poundage some eight years ago. The thing is, no one thought I was too thin back then. But now, suddenly I'm "getting too thin", according to many. "You're too tall to be that thin" they tell me all the time. And I tell them, but I was thinner than this before and it suited me perfectly. It was a good weight for me. In all fairness to them, maybe because they have seen me at the larger weight for so long that seeing the drastic change in me now that I have dropped all the weight is a bit much for them. And it could be because weight seems to have dropped off so fast. I think a lot of it is the shock value of them having seen me go from one weight to another all in the space of 3-4 months.Just this past January '05 I was 180lbs..and now all of a sudden I am 37lbs lighter...yes, I am tall, yes, I carry it well. ****, even when I was at 180lbs and I would tell people I needed to lose some weight they'd say....'Nah....you look fine...you're thin enough'. And I'm thinking to myself, 'that's because you don't see what I look like under these clothes...the stomach rolls, the dented, cellulite-ridden thighs etc'. Since I always dressed in a way so that would de-emphasize the areas of my body I wasn't happy with, and then to emphasize the areas I was happy with, it was all an illusion, unbeknownst to them. I have always been very curvacious, always had meat on my bones, even at my lowest weight..it just was/is proportioned in such a way that the meat was/is in all the right places.

So I think a lot of these comments may be related to the fact that the weight transition has happened so quickly. Then it may be jealousy in some cases. Who nows...I am not quite sure. But I have definately experienced a lot of these types of comments also, so I know where you're coming from.
