I think in most cases it probably isn't jealousy, just that they aren't used to seeing you at your current weight, so you look REALLY thin to them. Another thing I've observed is that sometimes people who are in the process of losing weight can look a little gaunt around the face, which is what most people are looking at most of the time. They see your skinny face and emerging cheekbones and think you're probably close to your goal weight. If you're like me, though, you're still waiting for the rest of your body to catch up to your skinny face!

I would have responded to this thread sooner, but everytime I start reading I go into this beautiful dream montage/sequence of imagining what bliss it must be to have people telling me I was looking too thin...
ahhhhhhhh!!!
*lol*
I agree with anyone who said that people fear and dislike change. Also, sarah hit it spot on. People compare the new you to the old you. when you can start to see cheekbones and collarbones, where once there was ample adipose tissue, to them you really do seem very thin.
It's relative.
Now, back to the fantasy/dream montage...

You're well on your way moochie.
I tend to wear clothes that hide all my imperfections too. Makes me think I'm smaller than I really am.

In the mirror I look like a fat girl. When I see pictures of myself I think, "Wow, I look really thin." It is so weird to have people actually tell me that if I lose anymore weight I'll be too small. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? My mother, oh beautiful woman of size 6 stature and 5 feet 8 inches of LEGS, said to me Saturday "Bridget, if you lose anymore weight you'll be skinny" :yikes Someone wake me up, I think I'm dreaming.~Bridget~ (F) Age 25

Isn't that the weirdest thing? I too look at myself naked in the mirror and think to myself, 'I've lost over 30lbs, why doesn't it look like it?' Then when I put on my clothes or see a picture of myself with all the weight loss I think I look much skinnier, my face, my neck etc. Funny because it used to be the other way around. Before I lost the weight I'd look at myself and think, I don't look that bad, then when I would see a picture of myself I looked blowed up, my face looked really fat and I looked as wide as a house. Funny how that works...lolOriginally posted by bree630In the mirror I look like a fat girl. When I see pictures of myself I think, "Wow, I look really thin."

Thanks Peytonn. We humans are our own worst critics. I think it is generally difficult for us to see our own selves in a good light, yet others are easily able to see us the way we don't see ourselves.

I've got a long way to go before anyone tells me I'm too thin. But I do get reactions when I say I want to lose about another 100 pounds. Everyone thinks that's too much, and I'll still technically be overweight.
Once I get a lot closer, I'll have body fat analysis done, then I'll decide exactly where my ultimate goal is.Jim

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?
