  • HARD body

I dont know how to say this, so bare with me...

My stomach is so HARD! In fact, so are my thighs, arms, butt -- every inch of me is HARD!!

I'm not losing (inches nor weight), altho I'm following the plan to a " T ". I drink my water and exercise.

I know by tweaking my eating plan a bit, the weight will come off so I'm not really worried about that :yikes

Should I be concerned that my body is HARD??? Shouldnt my body be more soft so the weight can come off?? What can I do to soften up?

Lots of cardio, Cheryl .... the hardness is great, but you need to speed up the heart-rate for a minimum of an hour a day (sorry, guys, but that's my experienced opinion ...)

Can you run? Can you power walk? Anything that will increase your heart rate will burn over all body fat, even if its buried under that HARD BODY!!

        KEEP AT IT! :hug

Well, there IS one area of my body that is heading south :yikes ... LOL Cant help that. The age thing, ya know.

Betty I knew you'd come thru for me. Double up on Curves I guess! That'll give me an hour of cardio.

If I'm understanding you correctly, I think I'm experiencing the opposite. I do cardio 5-6 days a week and work with a personal trainer doing functional training 3 days a week.

I'm losing inches, and the scale finally moved again after almost a month.... and the muscles are definitely shaping up and growing, but my pudgy/fatty areas that cover some of those muscles are softening up - mainly my butt and tummy (those are my largest fat areas). I was always a 'relatively' firm fat person - not saggy. Is it because the fat is breaking down that those excessively pudgy areas are softer now? Anyone know?

              :confused

I think some folks are confusing your post. Do you mean your fat is hard? Not your muscles are hard, because that is a good thing.

For example, my father-in-law has a hard, round fat belly, and the fat on my belly is soft and jiggly. I have heard that softer fat will go faster than hard fat. Is this what you are getting at?

I would say lots of cardio and lots and lots of water!

I'd say the fat is hard on my stomach. My thighs are hard too (they dont jiggle when I walk) but I just always atributed that to the fact that they have to carry my body.

I've never seen a muscle on me, except maybe on my calves. I've always been told I'm "Fat" and "big boned" ... Tell me ... how does anyone know what size my bones are if they have never seen them? lol

I was told you can tell by the size of your wrists, which are 7 inches, but that doesnt make much sense to me considering fat also is on your wrists.

I'll increase my Curves workout to 1 hour for cardio. Drinking more water doesnt seem to help, but I'll try that too.

Not at the narrowist part, its all bone....think 7 inches is big, I have 9.3 inch wrists :nod

A hard body is good if you ask me. Hard fat versus soft fat? Huh? Fat is fat, your fat is soft because you have more fluid aka water in the interstitial (between) spaces of the fat. The opposite is true for hard fat (less fluid). It really isn't a bad thing just a genetic thing. Some people are more prone to be flabby and others solid for some reason or another. I did hear that flabbiness is also do to loss of lean muscle mass which essentially is needed to give the fat something to hold to. No lean muscle...nothing for fat to hang on to....equals flab flab flab. Hit the cardio and weight training. Drink lots and lots of water as this helps the mobilization of fats out of the body as well as the breakdown of your fat into those ketones :icondance . Saunas and steam rooms are excellent as well.
