Re: the I AM WORTH IT CHALLENGE, a semi annual event

so are you ready for the monday assigment? i see you shaking your head "yes".

tonight, my time, this thread will be closed but i'll try to remember to continue to post a link to the current days threads.

this is how the threads will work... i hope.
each day, a new thread will be posted in this forum, with that days homework and/or boardwork. (mondays assignment will be posted on sunday, tuesdays will be posted on monday evening and so on) any discussion about that day will be done in that particular thread. obviously this is so the challengers who don't have access each day can follow a thread and not get confused with mondays assignments being mixed in with wednesdays assigments.

if you have questions concerning a particular assigment, ask. sometimes what is typed out doesn't always translate to the real world.

lets have fun with this but lets learn to be positive, lets plan, lets learn and let us all succeed with the challenges in front of us!

I Am Worth It Challenge ~ Monday assignment

          DAY 1, Monday
          1. Post affirmative notes at home, work desk and/or in your car. 10, 20 or however many you need to reaffirm the positive

          2. Start, revive or continue a personal journal. This can be a handwritten journal or one that you already have (or will start) in the Journal Stats Forum. If you have a journal in Journal Chats, you can use it but you are already
aware that other chat happens and your entries may be mixed in with party foods and shopping.

          3. Commit to at least 4 days of exercise during this challenge. Do what you can. If the extent of what you can do is stretching, then stretch. The point is to get moving and be active. If you are involved in an exercise challenge, make sure you are logging your daily exercise and staying committed.

          4. Print (if possible) and sign the ADBB I BELIEVE IN ME contract.
          I BELIEVE IN ME CONTRACT

          5. Answer this question: How important to me is losing weight?

Log your answers in this thread and in your journal.

          -----------
Use this thread to post that you have finished 1 thru 5, ask any questions or make any comments for this days assignment.

Re: I Am Worth It Challenge ~ Monday assignment

              1) In process of writing them out

              2) started a journal stats thread!

              3) I commit!! I pledge to do 4 days of ab work a week 2 of those to include some walking.

              4) cant print but will do at work tomorrow!

5)To me, its not just about losing weight, yeah don't get me wrong there's always the vanity side - I want to look good, i want to feel good, but more importantly, following this way of life is actually doing something for me, i've spent so much time being there letting myself go and not treating my body how it deserves to be treated.
With the usual benefits of losing weight my main benefit will be the effects that weightloss will have on my arthritis, I'm too young to have this condition it effects a huge part of my life, things that most people can take for granted, from walking up stairs to getting up off a toilet to well... yeah, it affects everything. I've lost 49 pounds to date, this has mae a HUGE difference on my condition, yeah i still have bad days, but theyre becoming less and less enabling me to do some light exercise - which is a huge part in this way of life.
Its important that i gain back some of my life and my youth, i want to look younger but more so, i want to feel younger, I'm on my way to doing this. I cant wait to be able to shop in "normal" stores. I want to be able to exercise - and i think, with a few more pounds off, my joints may just allow me too, that to me, will be the biggest gift from losing weight and the most important thing to me.

                Woo! Excited about this challenge!

                1) Have written some out (got inspiration from the Thoughts on Being a Loser in Joy's signature. BF thinks I'm crazy sticking paper all over the show

2)I have a journal and I try to make an entry every day

                3) I am committed to 6 days a week exercise for at least 45 mins as part of the 6WEC, the Austere Month and Atkins Attack

                4) Will print when have bought a cartridge

                5) Losing weight is very important to me because of the health aspects. Like Emma, I want to feel like my age, hypothyroidism made me feel I'd missed out for a long time and it is great to feel young again. I want to look how I feel I am as a person. Also it's about having control over my life, food and actions
                in all areas.

                      DAY 1, Monday
                      1. Post-it notes strategically placed on fridge, bathroom mirror, bathroom scales, door on way out of house. Like Baarb, dbf thinks I'm mad. All in a good cause!

                      2. Have already a journal chat going...

                      3. I commit to 4 days of exercise, plus I am taking part in the ab challenge, with a daily crunches. I keep a record of all activity in my fitday account.

                      4. Will print contract when I get some paper (what a time to run out) and then going to put on fridge door beside aforementioned post-its.

                      5. This question, I've thought about for some time now. It is of of the upmost importance for me for many reasons. I want to look at myself in a mirror, in a shop window, in a photograph and recognise ME again. I've lost myself physically somewhere over the past 5 years and I don't recognise myself. As I continue my journey I am beginning to glimpse a small part of me again. I want to be healthy again and do the honour of passing my new attitude and woe on to whatever children I may have with dbf. I do not want to pass on this legacy of unhealthy eating that my parents gave me. I feel energised and happy and confident that I can do this and reach goal. I want to feel this way always.

My life has been on hold for so long this really isn't living. It isn't living.
I want to be healthy and happy and loved.
Part of me is afraid to lose weight because I know that once I get to goal.....I have important life changing decisions to make. But its time.

*Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels

                          5) To me, losing weight has been and still is a Journey to Freedom. Losing weight has changed my entire life by releasing me. Everything has taken positive effects on me...relationships, health, self-worth, control over eating as well as belief in myself to be able to conquer and control other areas that need to be handled with changes in actions and thoughts.

I am more positive and happier, I look forward to each day now instead of making excuses about why I couldn't go or do things. I am not afraid of people and what they think about my appearance, I find myself coming out of my comfort zone more and more and taking risks that I would never have allowed myself to do before for fear of being laughed at or criticised.

                            2. Will do in just a minute.

                            4. Printed & signed
                            5. It's very important for me to lose wieght. Several reasons.
                            A. Health--I'm a single parent, got to stay in shape to get these kids grown and on their own.
                            B. My follow thru hasn't always been so great. I want to prove to myself that I can set a goal and finish it, not just start. I've noticed as I've lost the weight, I've also been able to set other goals and follow thru.
                            C. Example for my kids. I want them to see that when I decide to do something, that I will do it. I want them to see me succeed and not give up. I want to set an example of being healthy and physically active.
                            D. Social-if I had my way, I'd be a hermit. I know it's not good for me so I keep trying to put myself out there. It's easier when you look decent. People tend to use your willingness to volunteer when you're fat, but not actually connect with you. I don't think that's just my perception, I believe it's reality. After losing 40 pounds so far, people are nicer to me and treat me more like a real person. I still have 40 to go, then a lifetime of keeping it off. It won't always be easy, but I want to be proud of myself when I look in a mirror instead of focusing on my face and ignoring the rest of me.

I think this challenge came at a God-given time for me. My iritis has flared up and I get really down in general when it hits. I always fight it, because I have kids that need meals and attention and a functioning parent. If it wasn't for them, I'd crawl under my bed and stay there. This will give me extra incentive and extra things to think about to try to stay positive. So, thank you!
