  • Re: I Am Worth It Challenge ~ Monday assignment

    DAY 1, Monday
    1. Post affirmative notes at home, work desk and/or in your car. 10, 20 or however many you need to reaffirm the positive

Done! Have them stuck on my bathroom mirror, my refrigerator, my pantry door, in my car, and in my classroom. My ds keeps trying to take them down. J

    2. Start, revive or continue a personal journal. This can be a handwritten journal or one that you already have (or will start) in the Journal Stats Forum. If you have a journal in Journal Chats, you can use it but you are already aware that other chat happens and your entries may be mixed in with party foods and shopping.

Started a handwritten jounal a week ago. I prefer a handwritten journal because I can jot down notes whenever they hit me instead of trying to logon to a PC.

    3. Commit to at least 4 days of exercise during this challenge. Do what you can. If the extent of what you can do is stretching, then stretch. The point is to get moving and be active. If you are involved in an exercise challenge, make sure you are logging your daily exercise and staying committed.

I commit to six days of exercise with Sundays being rest days. This includes aerobics, stretching, swimming, and yardwork.

    4. Print (if possible) and sign the ADBB I BELIEVE IN ME contract.
    I BELEIVE IN ME CONTRACT

DONE! Posted in my bathroom where I will see it every morning when I wake up and every night before I go to bed.

    5. Answer this question: How important to me is losing weight?

This is extremely important for me. I have several medical problems – PCOS, hypothyroidism, arthritis, allergies, and vertigo. I am only 36 years old. I have a 10 year old ds for whom I want to live, support, and provide a good example.

I have 5 so far and will add to them as needed:

I can eat the Atkins Way
      I can be cheat free
      I am worth it
I am a good, healthy person
My clothes need not be tight!

I will post in my Stat Journal daily for this challenge

I will walk at least 4 times this week

      4. Print (if possible) and sign the ADBB I BELIEVE IN ME contract.
      I BELEIVE IN ME CONTRACT
Printed and signed and it looks so pretty!

      5. Answer this question: How important to me is losing weight?
I recognize that I have done a fair amount of emotional eating since February. It's been a very long time since I gave in to that game. It's time for me to stop. My pants are tight and I feel like a blimp. I feel so much better when I eat right, drink my water and feel slim. What's important to me is not to toss aside all my hard work in reaching goal. I know that with a few weeks of diligence on my part, all will be well again!

Thanks for doing this Jimmie, just when I was beginning to feel comfortable..LOL!

        1. Posted notes of words describing why "I AM WORTH IT" posted around my bathroom mirror and refrigerator. I'm a stay home mom for now so this is where I am 99% of the time.

        2. I haven't started a Journal Stats Forum cuz I don't know how that works yet, but I do have a journal on Fitday. You're welcome to read it anytime.
        http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJ...l?Owner=elsy72

        3. I usually excercise 5-6 times a week, but this week since my baby has a really bad cold and feeling extremely irritable, I will committ to 4-5 times this week. I also log this on my FitDay Journal.

        4. ADBB I BELIEVE IN MY conract printed and signed.

        5. How important to me is losing weight? I don't even know where to start.

For starters, I have struggled with being overweight my whole life. I have a group picture from Kindergarden where I was the 2nd fattest child in the class. Whenever I go back to my photo albums, I see myself fat in some pics, thin in others all the time. And ofcourse, I've always been the fat one in the family. So yo-yo dieting has become a WOL for me. People are so used to seeing my fat some years and thin others. They just look at me but don't even congratulate me anymore on losing weight since they know I'm gonna gain it all back the next time they see me. How sad is that!

Second, the most successful/happiest times in my life have been when I am thin. That is when I would meet guys and dates, when I got my first professional job, when I bought my first home, when people were friendlier to me, when I wouldn't get sick and when I had the courage to go out and be free.

Third, my asthma goes out of control when I'm heaviest. Not to mention that I even developed significant sleep apnea. My husband said I snored so loud that he wasn't getting any sleep. He had to permanently sleep in the room down the hall. It was so embarrasing to be a newly wed and having my husband sleep in another bedroom. Also, every time we would fight, we would use my weight issue to attack me. He was very mad at me for gaining weight since he met me when I was thin. Now that I've lost about 50 lbs since the baby he is much happier and really enouraging. Neverthe less, that still hurts.

Fourth, I want to be able to control my appetite and not be tempted to eat huge amounts of food (especially around other people). I remember going to luncheons at work or socials for work and still not being able to control my portion size. I knew people were staring at me at how much I would eat. I don't want that to ever happen to me again.

Fifth, I want my baby and future kids to have a normal mommy who has energy to play with them and my husband to not be mad at me for getting so fat. I want to be able to sleep with my husband every night in the same bedroom. When my kids grow up and are old enough to know, I don't want them wondering why we don't sleep together. And I know me being overweight is the reason for my sleep apnea.

Sixth, my daddy who past away a year ago, would get reallly worried every time he would se me gain weight again. Since he had a heart condition (which is the reason for his death), he would worry that I would end up sick like him. He wasn't overweight at all, but worried that I would bring that upon myself. For the memory of my daddy, I want to do this finally!

          1. Notes... Done!
          2. Journal... Started one!
          3. Exercise... I have been commited to 6 days a week with the 6 week challenge but I have been slacking since a car accident a week and a half ago. I am kicking myself into gear today and going to the gym!
          4. Printed and signed!
          5. How important is losing weight to me?
Extremely important. I have a 5 year old daughter to be a role model for, and I know my mother was not a good role model when she did a lot of yo-yo dieting when I was a kid, finally to just give up and let herself go. I have never been thin in my life, and I want to feel a sense of accompliment, that I CAN commit to something and stick with it til completion, which I am bad at sometimes. I need more self esteem. And it needs to come from myself, not from other people. My boyfriend always tells me that I don't need to lose weight, because I look "fine". Well, maybe I'm sick of looking FINE. For once I want to look in the mirror and feel confident, and be gorgeous! My health is important too, while I do not have any health problems, I would like to keep it that way.

I'm excited about this challenge! I needed it just about now. Thanks Jo!

1-for my posts I have a binder that I carry with myself everyday where ever I go, in this binder is my journal, prayers and help aids in exercising and my before pics when I first started with the Atkins on May 22. I will put in my new pics today in my binder since I am starting this challenge.

2.-I also have a journal in my purse, so when I am tempted to eat something that is a "NO-NO" I write it down in this little journal.
3.-I exercise 6 days a week with allowing myself one day without either getting on the treadmill and or doing cardio, I do resistence everyday. 50 min cardio, 3 miles treadmill, 25-30 resistence training
              4-Printed out!
5-How important to me is losing weight?

I have always been a yo-yo dieter, and I am the one that holds the fork, I have learned that I am my worst enemy and my worst critic! Not one person stands in my way of eating healthier IT IS I THAT STAND IN MY WAY! I want to LIVE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                DAY 1, Monday
                1. I posted my affirmations.

                2. I'm writing in a jounal notebook.

                3. I am meeting with a trainer Tues. & Thurs. I plan on doing Cardio on Wednesday and I will do a yoga or pilates video today.

                4. I printed the contract.

                5. How important to me is losing weight?

Losing weight is very important to me. Not only for my physical health, but for my emotional health also. I am tired of being tired. I am not proud of the life I lead. I don't think I am setting a good example for my daughter. I have to prove to myself that I can be in control of what I put in my mouth. For too long, I have allowed my emotions to control my diet. I am a mess physically and emotionally. I am a teacher, and since I am off for the summer I really want to focus on my diet and health. During the school year I have so many stresses and temptations, I was never able to stick to a healthy diet. Now that I have time on my hands, I hope that I will make the most of it and lose the weight that has been causing me emotional and physical fatigue. It's time I make myself my priority instead of everyone else!

i am seeing many posts that children and role model are the important matters for losing wieght. i also see as many that say it is for themselves. this is good. i like the positive thinking and i hope the follow up assignments will make this more of a reality for everyone.

                      Count me in as well!

                      1. Affirmative notes done, posted in various (hopefully not too annoying) spots in house.

                      2. In the 15 months I have been here have never started a Journal, guess now is the
time. Will do that today sometime.

                      3. Will do at least 4 workouts a week.

                      4. Contract printed and hung on refrigerator!

                      5. Why do I want to lose the weight? To feel good about myself and to be a positive
influence on my dd 12 as I try to help her take off some weight herself.

                        - I can lose weight.
                        - I can control my temper.

                        - My mind is calm.
                        - I radiate love and happiness.

I like to stick with just a few or else my mind becomes numb to them.

I have an entry in the journal stats I will use for this challenge.

Very important. I think about it all the time. I want to do this for me and my children. I want to be normal and I want to be able to buy clothes that I like and not just clothes that fit. I want to get in shape to set a good example for the kids and I want to do it before they can unserstand what a diet is - I don't want my girls (or my son) to be dieting at age 8 like I see my niece doing.

                          1. Notes posted! I also made a new design in henna on the back of my hand with IAWIC in the middle. It should last for the duration of the challenge.

                          2. My stats journal is up to the minute, will add on as the day progresses.

                          3. I will go to Curves four times this week instead of three, in addition to biking and ab work.

                          4. Printed and signed!

                          5. Answer this question: How important to me is losing weight? More important than I can express. Everybody on mom's side is diabetic. I DO NOT want that for myself! I also need to be around for my kids, and not just present but involved, not moaning on the couch about the latest headache. And so I can finally make all those smashing sexy dresses I've been collecting fabric for. I have one from before my kids were born and I kept telling myself, when I get down to XX pounds I'll use that piece. I could stock a fabric store with all my dream fabric that never became dresses. I WILL make those dresses!

                            1. I put a note on my fridge, as my computer's screensaver, a note on my desk, a note on my elliptical, and a note on my door. Here is what they say...
Fridge: Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!
Computer: Don't forget to drink all your water!
                            Desk: Live for today!
                            Elliptical: You can do it!
Door: Go out and enjoy life!

                            2. I've got a stats journal now!

                            3. I'll be doing four days of exercise and I'll post exactly what exercises are done. It will be a mix of things this week. This Wednesday is for sure a hike day, a LOOOOONG 16 mile hike day. My father and I go hiking once every other week. The other three days will be a mix of elliptical, slim in 6, and weight training.

                            4. I've printed and signed the contract!

                            5. Answer this question: How important to me is losing weight?
Losing weight has been the best thing I've ever done for myself. I feel better, I look better and I am happier than I've been in a long time. I'm close to goal and getting there is extremely important to me. I am willing to make the sacrifices to get there because it is so worth it. I've tried low calorie and weight watchers but I could never get anywhere. I was depressed and hopeless. This WOE is a huge part of my life now and it will always be a part of my life. This WOE has taught me that I can take control and that I can succeed. Losing weight is about being healthy, living longer, and feeling happier. Losing weight is important because it is a gift to myself not only now but 40, 50, 60 years from now.

Jimmie, is it okay that I put the little contract in my siggy or is that something to be earned at the end of the challenge? Will take it out if a problem, no worries there.

atkid, it's fine. i won't hand out the participation ribbon till the 20th.

fatal, you notes on your certain areas are great! everyone who posted what their notes said did a great job but you actually put them where they made sense. good job!

mary, you took this challenge to a new level by doing your design on your hand. it never crossed my mind that someone would "tatoo" themselves with the initials. had i know i would have made sure they spelled something really cool!

good job everyone! i like what i am reading and i hope you've taken the time to read the entries here. does anyone have any comments on what they have read so far?

tuesdays assignment will be posted sometime this evening so the foks across the pond have use of it before i ever get out of bed.
