There is a very real possibilty of electrolyte imbalances when massive amounts of water are consumed, and I'd hate for anyone to run into health problems by doing something that sounds so healthy! Potassium, magnesium and even sodium and chloride can all be depleted from your system quickly and a normal multivitamin may not be enough to keep your levels where they should be. I believe the risks are even greater for anyone taking Lasix or other diuretics or some antidepressants. Also, you have to factor in any other liquids (coffee, tea, soft drinks) you may have in addition to the water. It might not count toward the challenge, but it counts as fluid moving through your system.
