    reminders were sent out this evening to all challengers.
    there is still time for anyone one to be added to the list. late comers are welcome to join us but to earn the award, you must sign up no later than sunday evening. come monday morning it will be too late. ya snooze, ya lose!

    i look forward to a really good challenge, some really good reporting and many many awards being handed out.

      Thanks for the reminder Jimmy48! I've been practicing-today I managed 120 oz! I have 4-24 oz sport bottles chillin in the fridge to take to work, that gets me really close to my goal so I figure another 16 during the evening and I will be there and then some. I don't mind tap water, but the water at work is gross, so I just keep refilling these from home! Good luck everyone and don't forget to get prepared if you're scheduled for a busy day tomorrow- Success is half mindset and the other half preparation!

        How do you sign up for the challenge, my current weight is 142, so 71 ounces of water a day, and post each day! Got that! But is there somewhere to sign up officially or just by replying, thanks Tammy

          You are so right about being prepared. I actually have decent water at work (well it's so cold I can't taste it) so I'm just using my 20 oz bottle. My plan is to drink one down every 2-3 hours. I find that sipping just doesn't work for me, but if I just chuck one down every few hours I end up doing much better.

          Have you thought of freezing two of the bottles so they thaw during the day and stay nice and cold?

            you are in simply by replying to the thread and indicating you wanted to join.

              i a super happy to see that plans are made and shared!

              TODAY IS IT! GET THOSE WATER BOTTLES READY.... GET THOSE OUNCES MARKED!

              you can either post in this thread when you finishe the required ounces (even if you drink more) or you can wait till tuesday or report monday's ounces.

              i will post the final updated list of challengers in the first post for easy reference in case you forget the ounces you need to drink.

                      It has become clear to me after only 40 ounces so far today that I had NO CONCEPT of how little water I was actually drinking the past month or so!! This challenge is such a good reality check.

                        wendy, i think you are right! and planning in the colder months was no accident. it's the time (for most of us) that the cold weather gets to us and we aren't so much in the mood for drinking water.

                          Unfortunately, the idea of drinking eight, 8 oz glasses of water a day has me running away.

                          I think one of the goals of the Atkins WOL is to learn to listen to our bodies. Certainly it's to learn that if we're not hungry, don't eat! I think that applies to water as well. If you're thirsty, drink. If you're not thirsty, don't.

                          The last thing I think we need is more pressure to do something unnatural, such as drinking when we're not thirsty. I think this sets us up for failure and feelings of failure can contribute to giving up on weight loss.

                          Nobody knows where the idea of drinking eight, 8 oz glasses of water really came from. There are NO studies saying you need to. There is NOT ONE shred of evidence that you need to. If you're running to the bathroom every hour it's either because there is something medically wrong with you, or because your body is eliminating all of the water you're drinking (i.e. not using it). If your body isn't using it, why are you drinking it?

                          The whole issue was debunked in Snopes as a medical myth a couple of years ago. http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/8glasses.asp

                          I encourage anyone who is still skeptical to read the link and then post a reply.

                            in the book that is used on this board, the 2002 edition, Dr. Atkins states the eight 8 oz. glasses of water is part of the plan. this is just another way of doing some calculations.

                                I know i'm a day late but i desperatly need this challenge as i have been waiting for it since Mid January and i have been away for a week and only got back late last night.
