    DRINK UP! WATER CHALLENGE
    ~~~~~


    Many of us don't get enough water for whatever reason. We get busy, we substitute, we just plain forget and sometimes we just don't care.

    There are several calculations for determining just how much water one should drink per day.

    Originally Posted by Dr. Atkins in our DANDR

    You must drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of pure water daily. This can be filtered, mineral or spring water (not seltzer).
    [This is the calculation we use for the monthly water challenge]


    Others use the 64 oz plus 8 oz per 25 pounds you wish to lose.

    **** In this challenge, you will be committing to drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces. Now before you go all wet on me, do some figuring and you just might find out the amounts you come up with are very doable. ****

    If you are currently involved with the August Water Challenge, you may also participate in this Challenge.

    ~~~~ RULES OF THE CHALLENGE ~~~~
    • SIGN UP IN THIS THREAD NO LATER THAN AUGUST 17. STATE YOUR WEIGHT and the amount of ounces you will be committing to using the following.......
    • COMMIT TO DRINKING 1/2 YOUR CURRENT BODY WEIGHT IN OUNCES PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS A 128 OUNCE CAP FOR THIS CHALLENGE. Round the .5 pounds up.
    • PLEASE POST OFTEN, DAILY IF POSSIBLE.
    • Late sign-ups [anything past midnight August 17 EST] will be taken but will not be eligible for the award.

    Here's some helpful hints
    • Space out your water consumption trying not to overload and catch up in the late hours of the day.
    • Keep track of the amounts by using measured containers. For example, 1/2 gallon or 1 gallon milk cartons or other type of pitcher or drinking bottled water in 16 or 20 ounce marked containers.


    measurements:
    pint = 16 oz.
    quart = 32 oz.
    1/2 gallon = 64 oz.
    gallon = 128 oz

    HALF YOUR WEIGHT IN WATER

    weight today is 131. 66 ounces for me.

      I keep forgetting about water...maybe this will help.

      I weigh 222, so that 111oz a day for me.

        I'm in! Currently I weigh 177 so it'll be at least 89 oz a day for me

            Okay Jimmie-I'm in. Don't want to weigh yet though 'cause I've just restarted Atkins this week and am going to wait for a few weeks to weigh myself. My starting weight was 175lbs so I'll use that if that's okay. Guess that makes 88oz/day!

                it's fine with me if it's fine with you. i promise not to give you a knuckle sandwich if you don't weigh.

                as a matter of fact, i applaud you for not weighing at least through the induction phase. that is refreshing to see.

                  you'll do fine. the beauty is, if you get this challenge, the monthly one is already taken care of. and this one only lasts the 5 days. you'll do great!

                        I'm in! I currently weigh 232 so 116 oz for me. Oh lord, I'm glad my desk at work is not to far from the bathroom ....

                            You read my mind...I really do need to drink more water! My challenge will be 119 ounces. This is going to be a hard one for me. I have never been a big water drinker.
