Re: Mid-Year Resolution Challenge for the week of Sept. 18-24

    This week, your assignment is:

    1. to discuss what the toughest obstacle(s) you will have to face the rest of this month will be. I want you to really delve into the issue.

The rest of this month, my issues, are as always, family related... stress, upset, etc. I get to feeling bad, and I figure, it doesnt matter anyway, so I eat... whatever, whenever. My biggest obstacle is myself, and self sabotage.

    2. Then I want you to discuss how you will take an active role in overcoming the obstacle(s) to continue on your road to success!
I am working on feeling better about me. I am trying to keep track of just what I am eating and doing in my journal. I am focusing on the positive, and rejecting the drama around me.

    3. Also, I need to know, if you have are from a foreign nation (well foreign to the US), what holidays will you be celebrating from here until December 31? Wannabe reminded me that Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving October 10, as an example.

    On my planet....

And every common bush afire with God,
But only he who sees, takes off his shoes.

    Daily Goals:
    No wasted carbs.
    Water intake .5 -1 gallon.
    Exercise 60 minutes 5x week
    Get in the right veggies.

              1. to discuss what the toughest obstacle(s) you will have to face the rest of this month will be. I want you to really delve into the issue.

The rest of this month, I will face the challenge of fighting depression and lonliness which always trigger my emotional eating and make it difficult to stay motivated. I have one particular issue that takes me to a very dark place that will almost always result in my eating something I shouldn't. I need to accept the things I can not change and move on knowing it is not my fault and I can not control that situation. When I feel bad I lose sight of my goal and just want to binge on sugar and foods that are not allowed on this woe. When I am alone at home this also gives me too much time to obsess about food. Also my husband brings illegal food into the house that I have to see when I open the refrigerator/freezer door AGH!

              2. Then I want you to discuss how you will take an active role in overcoming the obstacle(s) to continue on your road to success!
I need to get more physically active and spend less time alone in the house. I need to stop focusing on the one issue that causes me the most pain and accept that it is something I can not change. I need to prepare atkins legal foods and treats in advance so that when I feel badly I can have the right foods easily available to me when I feel hungry or have the urge to munch. I need to pursue positive activities that will help my self esteem and will keep me focused on the fact that I deserve to be healthy and happy and fit. I am going to wrap my husband's illegal foods in brown paper bags so I do not see them when I open the door....this will reduce the temptation to cheat. (out of sight out of mind)

              3. Also, I need to know, if you have are from a foreign nation (well foreign to the US), what holidays will you be celebrating from here until December 31? Wannabe reminded me that Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving October 10, as an example.

I live in the US, so it does not apply to me

So far so good on my obstacles... I just knocked out today's amount of exercise, to get me closer to my goal.

Though I think I'm developing a problem with the scale. I just need to put it away for a while, I think, and go back to weighing just once a week. This every day thing is getting to me...
                    Current: 194.5 / 179.5 / 145
Current Start Date: September 24, 2009

                    Previous: 185 / 136 / 130
Previous Start Date: May 9, 2005

                      Okay Sugar...you are in.

Please note there was a mistake in the math and we have actually lost a total of 160.7

rybread...I have developed the same relationship this week with the scale. I am once again..after more than a month...stepping on it daily to see how my body is handling the stuff I add as I climb the rungs.

rybread-- way to go!!! The exercise is what keeps me going. I'm glad you're knocking it out, too! I agree regarding the scale. It's good to ignore it sometimes, or only REALLY pay attention on actual weigh days once a week. That's what I do. I call it selective scale amnesia.

Weigh in for me today. I am 2 pounds down and moving on to the nuts and seed rung. Am adding flax to my diet. Other than that ...probably not anything but will put a few serving of nuts in the van for emergency situations. I wasn't a big nut and seed eater before so this rung not a big deal.

Re: Mid-Year Resolution Challenge for the week of Sept. 18-24

Lastnight, at about 6 pm, I get a call from my sister. In a panic she explained that she had to move out of her house..tonight. So, my hubby and I go over to help. It was pure maddness...people and stuff everywhere. Everyone I know was there trying to help...my sister's mother in law being one of them. It got to be like 11:30, and people were getting tired and hungry. Well, being the nice woman that my sister's mother in law is, she decided to suprise everyone with mcdonalds!! It was an awkward moment at first..I felt so rude to say no, I can't...sorry you wasted your money...So I very sneakaly slipped my soda to a friend of mine who said she wanted some 5 min before (just so you know, she is like 5'5 100 pounds...so I wasn't sabotaging her ) I said I was too stressed to eat and passed my burger off to my hubby who thankfully devored it. I was so proud of myself!! I did it!! I looked a large Coke and a double cheeseburger in the face and said..no thank you.. I brought a few deviled eggs!! I am so happy that I didn't screw this up. That would have been my breaking point any other time...but lastnight was different. Then, I got home at 6 am..yes 6 am!!! I got one hour of sleep b/c my little joey woke up...and I was crabby and wanted to eat...EVERYTHING!! Well, I ate a deviled egg (i love 'em) to hold me over while I scrambled some eggs and sausages. It was that simple. Now a month ago, I would have said " she has so much going on right now, i dont need to worry about eating a stupid burger, this one time wont hurt"...but not now..not ever again. Just because someone has a situation to deal with, doesn't mean that I can invalidate my own lifestyle!! Well, I know that was lengthy but..I learned a valuable lesson and really HAD to share!!
