Elmark...I am feeling wonderful! Actually, I think I would feel even better if I took a bit more time from my hectic life for more exercise, but will make the most of it for now. My goal is 125 lbs. which is very reasonable for my height of 5'3". I currently fit into a size 10 (pants) pretty comfortably and an occasional size 8 (depending on the brand and fit). I would love to get comfortably into most size 8's if possible before doing some sort of maintainence plan. My doctor feels it is fine for me to stay on Atkins for another couple months to lose more, but asked me to consider not staying on strict for much longer than a year since there is not enough information on this strict of a low carb plan over the long haul. I have had lots of problems getting myself to eat past the 20 carb limit that I started induction with. I have moved on to OWL, but still have that silly number 20 burned into my brain, and feel aweful if I break it. So...she suggested switching to something like South Beach for maintainence where counting wasn't such a big part of the lifestyle. I have read the book, and found it quite interesting, with only a few more lenient modifications from Atkins' plan. The only thing that terrifies me though, is that the South Beach author has basically made room for the occasional cheat, and better expects it to happen than Atkins did. I am just afraid that if I have a day where I am in a bad situation, I would have a hard time just jumping right back into the swing of things the next day....as I have never allowed for a cheat since I started Atkins 8 1/2 months ago. I guess I will have to see if I can make myself get out of this counting trap Atkins has me stuck in :speechle:
On another note, I have been formally diagnosed with adult ADHD, and the psychologist that my dr. sent me to for diagnosis felt enough areas of my life could be benefitted with meds (especially since I am a student). I started taking adderall a few days ago, and the difference is amazing. One big side effect to taking meds of that sort is weight loss, so hopefully this last 20 lbs. will come off easier than I had planned.

Michelle; I understand that you want to loose more, but right now, you look like the picture I have inside my head, of my goal weight! Don't know if it is final, but I'm 5'7 and I think 150 will be alright for me!
Can I ask you why you just don't use the Atkins plan for OWL and maintenance? I understand, that you have trouble getting over the number 20, but still. Don't you think you could get used to it?
Every person I have heard of, who has tried South Beach has eventually failed. Not saying that you will. But as you mentioned, they give you an opportunity to cheat. I for one, would still not be able to stop at one cheat. That is why I appreciate the Atkins way of helping me to eat right for the rest of my life.
My doctor, has told me, to keep doing what I'm doing as long as I need to. He says, that there is no problem in following induction for more than a year. He says that it sounds like I'm eating only good and whole foods, and says, that just the benefik from no additives alone, makes a great difference.
Sorry....looks like I could just go on and on!
If SB sounds better to you, I'm sure you can do it. You have already come this far!

, making it an even 40# lost so far, not a lightning pace since it's been 8 months, but I figure 5# a month is a good steady rate & makes me more confident that what I get off stays off. Im a big cheater & because of that I do the 2 steps forward 1 step back thing... takes twice as long to get there but I will
going to start the exercise thing soon too & hopefully increase the pace, picked up some Tae-bo tapes yesterday now I just need to get using them :whip

Weigh-in day for me and I am down 3 lbs. this week to 144. However, I am expecting a timely stall to occur and prevent me from losing those last 4 lbs. for at least a few more weeks...it never fails :yikes

I have been following your progress from the 4th of July Challange until now and I really want to say how PROUD I am of you. You have inspired many of us and you have consistently lost weight, stuck to the WOE and it really shows. Finally got thru being stuck at one wt. Loss 10 lbs current wt 300
Just having the knowledge that I made a commitment to this challenge has helped me. I went on induction for 5 days, again, and then doubled my veggies.
I went to swim x 2 last wk. I do that most every wk. :icondance
