    Re: Mid-Year Resolution Thread, Nov.7-12

Heehee...I think it is starting to be noticeable. Tonight I asked my DS to walk on my back because it has a kink in it. And he said...you know what is different about you Mom? You look flatter. I asked him what he meant and he said he didn't know just that I looked flatter...LOL!
Neither of the kids know I am trying to lose weight. Though they have kinda caught on that I am eating healthier and no junk. I have never complained about my weight in front of them...I have never used the word diet. My weight has never been an issue with them. DS is 9 and DD is almost 8.
    Gotta smile!

          Speaking of TOM...

Dumb question: When do women retain water? I always see women blaming their gains on TOM. Is this before the actual, uhhh.... period? During? When is TOM?

Apparantly I was absent in 6th grade health class. I never get/got cravings or cramping or bloating, so I honestly don't know. Yes, you may hate me.

My weight didn't budge at all this week. But I'm ok with that - it happens, and TOM is coming up at the end of this week, so I am not surprised.

            I finally posted my results for 6WEC #21 - I lost 5.5 lbs and 7.5". Happy happy!

Welcome Zoe! It's nice to meet you!

I retain water and I've had a partial hysterectomy. Go me! (That was sarcasm by the way)

Hi All! A big welcome to Zoesmom. The more the merrier!

Can anyone explain the losing inches, but not pounds to me? As you all know, I have been losing SLOWLY for the past 2 months. I only lost 2 pounds the last month. However, yesterday, I must have had 5 people say to me.....you have lost a lot of weight since I saw you last. I last saw them 2 weeks ago. These are ladies I go to a weekly Bible Study with on Monday nights. We did not have it last week due to trick or treat. So, I saw them 2 weeks ago. Then, at work yesterday, 2 ladies I see frequently, said to me....you are getting to be a beanpole. Every time I see you, you are thinner. You are getting so skinny, etc. I didn't even recognize you when you walked by.

I had not weighed since starting induction on Sunday, so I decided to weigh this morning. I was UP 2 pounds. It is not time for TOM, so I can't blame it on that. My clothes are feeling looser. I also have not exercised for the past 2 weeks because I have been redecorating the study in our house and painting, etc. and that has cut into my exercise time. I am trying to get this done before the holiday visitors come. I don't think it was the outfit either as I had on different clothes for work and changed into something else for Bible Study. Oh well, this is baffling. I am getting so discouraged about the not losing. Yes, it feels good to lose inches, but there is something psychological about seeing the scale go down too. I am not going to weigh again until the 2 weeks of induction are over. If it hasn't moved I may do a meat and egg fast that I read about on another board to try to get things moving in the right direction again. Thanks everyone for any insight!

Well I stayed the same this week, which is ok with me sort of, as I lost 4.5 lbs the week before, so I guess it all averages out! Started to work out again, and it feels great to be active in that respect again. This time I'll be careful not to injure myself, and give up on the kickboxing for abit! So it's back to the treadmill, bike, and slim in 6 dvd's!

Way to go on the noticability! If you look at the exercise challenge, there is someont there named TnDeb, who lost 24 inches and only about 3 pounds for 6 weeks! Muscle is denser than fat The fat melts away but your body tries to hang onto the weight and retains some water in the cells. It eventually lets go and then you have a whooshie. Your body is just trying to hang on to what it can due to wanting to be prepared for the next famine.

                    That's water weight. No big. I am up a couple pounds. That's water weight. I know it. I's frustrating and annoying, but it's one of those temporary deals. What matters is that people are noticing you losing weight! That means it is showing in your face as well! That's awesome news! you are doing SO well! I am really proud of you. {{{Twmmy}}}

Cruiser-- I'm the same this week, too. I've lost about 18 pounds over the last 6 weeks, but they haven't all fallen off regularly! One week I'd lose 5 and the next week nothhing. Changing up yyour exercise routine sounds like a fab idea. They say cross-training helps burn more fat because our muscle memory doesn't outdo us.

Cleo? Are you bribing people with rep points? Well, I never!!!!! {hrmph!} tee hee

I'm doing well this week. I feel like a million bucks since I took the pressure off, and it's weird, but I feel a little bit more focused too. My goals this week are to not weigh until Sunday, and to continue exercising 4 days per week, with a focus on 5K training so I can lower my time for the upcoming 5K on Thanksgiving morning. My goal is to finish in under 34:00.

Hello everyone! I am hanging in there. I couldn't stand the "not knowing" so I got on the scale this morning and was down the 2 pounds I was up yesterday. Cleo was right again..water weight. Now I want to be down some FAT pounds this week. I "ain't" doing induction for fun, ya know!

Hey, what's a Rep point? Why do I want them? I am happy to say the redecorating of the study/office is almost complete. Then, hopefully I will have time for official exercise. Painting and moving furniture around has GOT to be burning calories though.

I think I need to change my NYE goal to 199. This weight is coming off so SLOWLY. What's sad is 199 was my goal for my birthday back in September and I obviously did not make that. If I weigh less on NYE than I do now, I guess that will be a success. Usually I gain 7 or so pounds over the holidays.

Way to go Jamie and Effie on that exercise. You lean, (not mean at all), exercise machines you!

                                Re: Mid-Year Resolution Thread, Nov.7-12

Effie..not everyone retains water when they are getting close to or during TOM. I very rarely retain water unless I have consumed a large amount of sodium...like in a stirfry..and even then I usually(not lately) am drinking enough water to flush it out.

I personally do not gain weight when my period is coming and I think Wanna actually has been know to lose that week...so every one is different.

twg...congrats on the inches going down. Your body is catching up with itself. Remember as we get lower it is more and more about how the clothes fit than what the scale says as we do not walk around with a sign saying how much we weighed that morning. Stay strong.

Cruisergal...congrats on getting back to exercising. Good for you for not getting discouraged about no drop this week since you had such a large drop last week.

Cleo...good for you on the treadmill

Me...having a grumpy week...need some sunshine. My bestfriend is coming over today so will be talking and stamping so should put me in a better mood.
