Don't beat yourself up, Chrleeann! You had a little stumble, but you picked yourself back up into the right track! That's the important part!! It's when we give up that things really go downhill. You hang in there....I know you can do it!!!

          Re: My Summertime Challenge

I continue to stumble but I continue to get back up.

I lost 1 lb. last week, but that was with a cheat. GRRR! NO MORE!

I am drinking a ton of water though. I keep a few empty water bottles on my desk at work. In the morning, after I set down my bag and turn on my computer, first thing I do is go fill up 2 of those bottles. When they're empty, I fill them back up. I fill them up 3-4 times a day. Set 'em up, knock 'em down. It's good stuff and I feel better for it.

For lunch I had salad with all kinds of good stuff on top. For dinner I'll probably have filet with peppers and onions. Not extravagant, but it's easy and good.

Chrleeann, let's both make a promise to go the whole week through without cheating. But take it one day at a time - and one meal at a time. I am going to start going to the kitchen and getting a piece of something (cream cheese rolled up in ham is good) for a snack when my sweet tooth starts to kick in. And having a glass of Arizona diet green tea or Diet Rite to go with it. Divide the day into 3 parts, and get through each part (meal), then mark a day down, then a week, then before we know it it'll be a month. Let's try that, ok? And not get bogged down by anything else.

StephieSue I am in! One trip to the kitchen at a time. Congrats on your # gone ! I really need to see the scale drop this week to give me encouragement, when I see the pounds going it makes me work harder. When I see nothing happening it makes me want to crawl back under the covers and stay the rest of the day. So, I just need to see some progress, and getting threw a day at a time and turn that into a week will move along!!! OK, lets all have a great week!!

              Re: My Summertime Challenge

You should get a tape measure Chrleeann, because you may not be losing lbs. but you may be losing inches. Somewhere around it there's a place telling you where to measure, but I would imagine it's all the obvious spots - across the bust, waist, hips, tops of thighs, above knees, around the calves, ankles, around neck, wrists, widest part of forearms, widest part of biceps. Then you take all those lost inches or parts of inches and add them up, and that's what you've lost in inches.

I am going to officially start "taping" myself that way this weekend after I weigh in. Then I will tape myself every week thereafter.

I'm doing good so far. I woke up this morning with resolve, something I haven't had in a long time.

Maybe it has to do with Springtime being in the air (despite the fact that there's 5" of snow on the ground

              Hang in there.

                Re: My Summertime Challenge

I measured some spots yesterday. I did my waist, under my bust, thighs (biggest part) and arms biggest part. So if the scale doesnt move some thing better. I think I might try dry brushing too anyone here done it?

Right now in a way i feel like i'm cheating too...I eat all the atkins acceptable foods but i eat before i sleep and i eat large quantities. I've been going to the gym steadily for about a week now...and as I go to the gym, my eating habits go down the drain! I feel so guilty but I don't know how to pick myself up out of my slump. Before I started going to the gym my eating was fine!! It's always one or the other...Self-sabotage at it's worst.

clos3r2mydr33ms, I feel the same way. Just do the best you can don't beat yourself up, just try to do better the next day. Take it one day at a time.

biogeek dry brushing is when you brush your skin with a nautral bristle brush, I read it helps take off dry skin and regenerate new skin (helps in skin not becoming so loose while loosing weight) I don't really know to much about it. I think I will look up and see if I can find some thing else on it.

Sounds interesting! I'll do some searches on it as well. Don't want flappin' loose skin hanging around.

For this week, I lost 0.5 pounds. Not much, but I figure it's better to lose a little bit each week and it'll add up to a lot over the course of a year. I'm thinking I"m going to have to adjust my weight loss goals. Since I'm a slooooow loser, I'm thinking 20 pounds may be more realistic number. I will try for 30 + though!

I lost, I lost, I lost 5 lbs, actually I gave them away, you tend to look for things that you loose and I don't want to find they are gone forever and so are the 260's!!! I hope to only visit the 250's for a few weeks.

                              Hey All! I wanna Join!!!!

My heighest was 270 around August of last year and I got down to 243, then had some major family issues and went off. Now i'm up to 273!!! I tried many, many times to get back on but I was unsuccessful because I couldnt get past the first day!

I went and bought a digital scale this time around (so I dont have to decide which number it's closer too ) and I started clean induction yesterday, and woke up this morning and im down 2lbs! Woo hoo!

                              So starting weight - 273
                              current weight - 271
goal weight by june - 215

                              I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope that i DO THIS!!!

                                Re: My Summertime Challenge

Welcome, speedygt03! I completely feel for ya, because family issues helped push me off the wagon, too. I went from 220 to 270. I finally got mad enough at myself to get out of the vicious cycle, and came back here to get some support (and ADBB is always marvelous that way).

I think summer officially starts like mid-late May or something? But it usually doesn't start feeling like summer until mid-late June. That's my goal.

So I weighed in this morning... 266! Yahoo!

I am also going to "tape" myself this evening with a tape measure, then again next Sunday, to see how many inches I'm losing.

This is an old picture of me when I finally started hitting close to my original goal weight a few years ago. My goal then was 180, IIRC. The reason I picked 220 right now is because it will be easier for me to hit the trail and walk the rest off. Just getting rid of the extra 50 lbs. first was mandatory.

On the right, 305 lbs. (I think maybe closer to 310). On the left, 210 lbs.

I think the pants size I am wearing there are 16s. Oh how I long to slip back into those puppies...

Congrats to everyone for working so hard this week, and good luck for the next!
