  • Re: Easter challenge?

Today was another active on-plan day. I'm tired to the point that I feel like I wore my feet right off my legs. Dinner is in three shifts tonight. Dd needs to be in bed by 7pm in order to make that 3am wake-up call for swimming so I made her blueberry pancakes (with a Trader Joe's whole grain pancake mix). A pasta casserole was in the freezer and will feed ds and dh when they get home. Dh works like a bear and loves pasta. Ds is an athlete and needs all the carbs he can fit into himself. I'd planned on making a quiche for myself to eat over the next two days. Saute'd some spinach and red pepper in a little olive oil and added some sausage. It was so good I decided to skip the egg part and just eat some now, some tomorrow, as long as it lasts. The idea will be filed away for those weekends in hotels when we DO have a frig and a microwave. I have lots of water left to drink but I'll try to do the best I can there. The machines at work were out of bottled water so I drank two diet sodas today - one was a diet coke and the other a diet dr. pepper. The bubbles do not sit right with me anymore!

I hope you are all having a great day and aren't bored by my drivel here. Glad you're joining us Precious...

      Hi Teri.
Sounds like you did great yesterday. I Love the quick and easy (like canned tuna fish sauteed in butter with melted cheese). It helps that dh is on it too, but he has already moved up to a modified OWL and I am still in induction. The only difference is he has added 5 carbs of Peanuts... I still think he is around 20 carbs though. He just needs that snack and he is still losing weight.
I never get tired of your posts. I try to log in everyday. I don't find a lot of time, but it helps motivate me. Ever since my last post, I have been craving something again...not sure what it is, but I want something. And the cream hasn't helped.

      Hope everyone is doing well!

Man, I'm kind of nervous about signing up for this, this will be my first challenge. So, Easter is about 31 days away. Please let me know if you think my goals could be improved. I sure hope to be as supportive as the rest of you!
        My goals are:
        1. drink 64 oz of water EVERY day.
        2. Do at least 50 sit ups EVERY night.
        3. Go for a 30 minute walk at least 3 times per week.
        4. Finally, lose at LEAST 8 pounds.

Started induction on Jan. 18 at 134 lbs. Current weight 122.6, goal weight around 107.
Wishing everyone confidence and will power,
        Gayle

Welcome to the challenge Gayle! It is my first challenge too. Your goals seem great to me.

Okay everyone, I have really been slacking on the exercise I am just having a really hard time getting motivated. It doesn't help that when I get on the machine, the girls seem to have a million reasons for me to stop to do this or that. I try really hard to not stop and then start again, but sometimes I have to - I get really frustrated about it.
To make things worse, I went off induction last night. I stayed within the carb count, but I had 5 carbs of sunflower seeds. I was really wanting something different and I got weak! I tried to do it 'semi' wisely, but I am mad at myself for giving in. Last night it was that or break completely.
Today I got on the scale (no, it is not my weigh day, but I tend to sneak a peek weekly), I am still steady, but I haven't lost anything. The thing is that whatever I weigh on Wednesday, I almost always gain by Sunday. I am not sure why.

Well, I hope everyone is doing great this morning! Off to make some eggs...

Lori Ann, you're doing just great. 5 carbs of sunflower seeds sounds ok to me!

It must be a record but I am still on plan and I know the scale moved down this morning. I try not to count on this until I can weigh in at the doc's so I will just use it for motivation right now! I have chickens cooking in the rotisserie oven and will make some quiche as well to get me through another hotel weekend. I don't have to worry about anyone else doing any cooking so it should go well. I want to make up some more of that spinach/red pepper/sausage stuff to take along. That was good.

Too many days of too little sleep and ultra-busy days have been the prelude to the busy weekend to come so I'm going to take a quick nap before I start in on any other chores. Won't make it otherwise.........

Hope you are all doing well!!!!

I was off the computer doing "St. Patty Day fun things with the girls", so I did not get to rejoice in your loss on Friday. Hope your weekend went good.

Last week was not great for me (exercise and food). The problem is that I am not eating food that is a 'no-no', but just eating too much of what is allowed. Looking for that crunch is killing me! I did lose 0.2 lbs, so at least I did not gain. I also haven't been exercising, going through a rut.... But, I am hanging on as best as I can. I already know (planned) that I will be a little high on the cream on Friday. I am making some homemade icecream for myself and dh (it will be my b-day). On my FIL birthday, I was so starving for sweets after the ice cream cake was served that I said the next time there is cake, I am making sure I make myself some low-carb ice cream. That way, there is less chance of me giving in to the temptation.
I was talking with my Mom and we both are going to try to do 'strict induction' starting next Monday. This past two weeks did not go well on the 'strict' induction, so I figured I will give it another shot. Since I already know I have my planned bad day this Friday, I figured next Monday was a good day. My mom is the one who started me on Atkins, well she told me about it and gave me an earlier version of his bood.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

We got back from a good weekend away to find the keyboard had died. My husband put in a new one last night so I am here to report I lost another pound. Thank goodness. I picked here and there at things I shouldn't have but it didn't have any adverse effects.
Today will be tough as I am home doing chores. Too easy to eat when you're home all day! I'll try to chug water. Am off to reset my stats so I will not cheat!!!!

My new goal is to stay away from the heavy cream. It is way to easy to over do it with cream for me! I love the taste..... My goal is to not have any until Friday.

That cream allowance goes quick doesn't it??? I have to carefully budget to be able to have my cappuccino. Even when made with half-and-half the carbs add up quickly. I like it best with 1% milk but that is TOO many carbs in one shot.

I'm trying to catch up on my abs challenge for March. I did lots of crunches in the hotel room over the weekend but had no way to log in to post my progress. I'll get today's done and then post it. It'll help keep me away from the foods that I need to avoid. Ds had friends over last night to study and all of them were hungry. Pasta is the only affordable meal for 6 teenagers at a time so I made macaroni and cheese with broccoli and tomatoes and then brownies and oatmeal cookies for dessert. It's easier not to pick when they're all in the kitchen with me so the making of everything was pretty safe. But there are leftovers. I'll have to see if the neighbors are craving cookies....

Elmark, great job on going sugar-free. All we can do is try, one day at a time.

Lori Ann, you're into strict induction again? I try to stay as close to it as I can. Sometimes I wonder if that isn't my way of avoiding the need to study up on the "rungs" of the Atkins ladder. When I get close to my goal weight I will worry about rungs. Right now I just want the weight off!!

I am going to start 'strict' induction on 3/27. I am going to try no cream and no cheese starting then too (for two weeks). I haven't ventured too far away from induction either. I was going to seriously move to owl, but the fact that my weight is coming off slowly scares me, so I keep pushing it off. I have 10-11 pounds to get to pre-pregnancy weight and wonder if my body thinks that it is my last 10 pounds, because they sure do not want to come off. However, that will only get me to the heavies of my healthy weight (BMI). I want to be in the middle of my 'heathy weight'. I know I will feel better at that weight. (I was not happy at 131 before I was pregnant. Now, I will be thrilled to see it; however, I know that thrill will not last long.)

Teri: I hope you had a good day and stayed away from the left overs. I find I get cravings when I make something sweet for the girls. Just the smell can drive me just about crazy. Freezing cookies and other sweets is the best way to keep me away.

Hope everyone had a good day!
