  • Re: Easter challenge?

I was thinking about you today - and lamenting that I hadn't logged on in a couple of days. Too busy with work, kids, house, laundry, etc, etc, etc. You know how it is.

I've added another 50 crunches to my total but haven't made time to log that in either! I'm hoping it lightens up by the end of the week so I can take stock and play catch up on what I haven't done. I haven't lost weight is one thing. I haven't gained either so that's good.

The study group is coming over in a bit - 6 teenagers for dinner means pasta in this house. By the time I'm done feeding them and my own I'll scramble some eggs for myself and then put my scrambled brains to bed!

I do know how it is (though I have not teenagers yet). Good thing about the not gaining. My husband is actually a little bumbed right now because he has not been loseing (or very little) in the last three weeks. Up until then he was losing a nice amount every week about 1 to 2 lbs. I just hope he doesn't give up out of frustration. Though I know he said his allergies have been much better since starting Atkins. Hopefully, that will be enough motivation to keep him going.

Meanwhile, I was losing slowly, but giving up the cream and cheese seemed to kick me into high gear. YEAH! I have been stepping on the scale everyday (I know I am not supposed to), but I am trying to see how my weight reacts to foods that I eat. Plus I am addicted to the scale...not a good thing, I know. Anyway, I am 6 1/2 lbs to my pre-pregnancy weight and where my BMI will be in the 'healthy' range. I know from experience that it is not the weight I want to be, but it will be good to be out of the 'overweight' category. I only mark my weight on 'weigh in day', because I often fluctuate higher on weigh in day. Last week was the first week, I was the same weight on Wednesday and Sunday.
Well, I just wanted to check in. I need to go make the girls something for breakfast. I also need to boil some eggs.
      Have a great day!

Went out to lunch today with a friend who also cares about the no meat on Friday lent thing so we tried a new seafood place. It was wonderful. Had the grilled salmon, maybe 6 oz, with a small amount of tomato/scallion/cream sauce on top - maybe two T tops - and steamed broccoli/no butter. I can't cook fish with any kind of success so I appreciate it all the more that they did a good job of it!
It's a gorgeous afternoon and we will spend it on the ball field. I'll have to pack some water or diet soda into a cooler with no-carb snacks so the concession stand will not get a visit! I can pass the Snickers bars into the dugout quickly to remove that temptation.
It feels good to have not cheated even in the little things..............

Oh, I PM'd ciaobella with no response. It's sad that no one is coming back. We're pretty close to Easter now so if you want to just go it on our own don't feel pressured to keep posting. Enjoy your success at being so close to your pre-pregnancy weight. That is a great goal reached!

No pressure here. I like having the extra push. Just being able to post with others that are going through each day like mine. I guess I need to find a new challenge (Or create one). I really need the extra push. We are going to be going to Disney World in September, so I am really hoping to be to my goal weight (or very close) by July 1. Then, at that point, start focusing on pre-maintenance. I just do not want to go to Disney (with dining), without knowing exactly how many carbs I can have without gaining back everything and then some.

No matter where I am on July 1, I am going to move into Pre-maintenance/maintenance, because I know I will not be able to stay on a lower degree during the time that I am there. Then, when I come back, if I am not at the actual weight I wanted to be, I will get back on induction and finish losing. I think that is the best plan anyway. I know from past experience, vacation is the ruin of most 'good' eating plans, but this is the first 'diet' that you are not starving yourself on, so hopefully, it will be different.

As for this challenge. I lost 1.8 lbs this week! On Saturday morning, I had lost 3.0 lbs, but then I 'cheated' on my no cream and made some ice cream on Saturday night (another birthday, cravings,...., I'm weak. ), and I gained 1.2 lbs. I checked this morning and I am at the same weightloss. I am really mad at myself, but I will learn and move on. It did cure me for now for any desire to eat cream.

If you do not mind, I would like to finish the challenge out. No pressure, if you don't want to. I just would like to see how it ends, how well we did. I hate to quit this close.
Hope your day is going well.

I've been trying to get in here for two days now. Don't know what the problem was but I'm glad it's fixed!

I've been eating to maintain lately and am grateful just for that. Every day is a struggle and I feel lost at the prospect of no challenge to keep me focused. I'll have to find a new one after Easter I guess because I'm not good at journaling. I tried but just don't keep up with it! If I'm not here and posting it's sooooo much easier to forget all about it. I see ciaobella was off at Boot Camp and is active in Journal Chats. Boot Camp takes a LOT of time so I'm not surprised she didn't keep up with this challenge. Only a few days left and I'm glad you and I made it through.

I just love Disney. We were there the week before Christmas. I found the eating part of it fairly simple since we had a "villa" with a full kitchen. And we drove. I used frozen chickens as ice packs and put lots of low carb foods into the cooler. Not wanting to spend lots of time in the kitchen, I brought the crock pot and would put the chicken in when I went to bed, deboned it in the morning and ate some for breakfast, and then it went into whatever I made for dinner that night - soup and pasta dishes are quick and easy. Protein breakfasts mean low levels of hunger so I was good for most of the day. MGM and the Magic Kingdom both sell turkey legs from pushcart stands. That helped. As did the wash and dry packets I kept in my bag!

Congrats on being down this week!!! As long as the overall loss is bigger than the temporary gain you'll do great. No treats of any kind make life dull. The next three days aren't technically fast days, except for Friday, but we tend to eat very little at the end of holy week so that will be helpful for me. The family is requesting ham for Easter Sunday so I'll have to shop soon!

            • Re: Easter challenge?

I have been trying to get in too. I know how you feel about the challange. It is actually the only place I usually get on the site. So, without this challenge, I am lost too. I am thinking about starting a July 4th challenge. But then, I know that it is so close to the 1st day of Summer challenge, so maybe I will read up on that challenge and join it (if it fits).
I've thought about journalling too, but I am not sure about keeping it up.

We are real big Disney people here. We were just there in November. We wanted to do it again in February, but they are having the 'free dining' for August and September which save a family of four $92 dollars a day. So, we decided to push it up. I'm really excited, but I know the food will be hard. DH wanted to go to the beach this year, but then the girls have done nothing but talk about Disney since we left. I figured they will not always be this excited, so it is a good time to go again. (We usually wait five years in between visits). I guess any 'good excuse' will do to go.

I hope your day is going well. I am doing pretty good this week. (Dh is having a real hard time lately. His weight loss has slowed a lot, and it is somewhat of a demotivator.)

Well, better get going. Have a great day!

LOL... we loved Disney enough that we bought into the vacation club. That's the only reason we could afford to do a two bedroom villa for a full week - we used two years worth of points to do it and it was worth every bit of it. It was SO great to be able to spread out and not be tripping over each other in a small room, everyone vying for the bathroom at the same time. Another family met us there and we could all meet up and have dinner in the main kitchen/dining/living area and be comfortable and not spend $100 for dinner. It's like leaving the real world when you go there. What is your favorite park? favorite ride? favorite place to stay? ?????

I haven't looked at the other challenges out there but a summer one might be good or I might just try try try to get a journal chat going and keep it up. Daily focusing on an eating plan needs to be part of my life I think.

My new dryer is about to be rolled into the house. I hate spending money on stuff like this........... ugh.

I hate spending money on things that just make you have to work too!

I will have to look into the vacation club... I kind of always just pass the info up. Do you really like it? As for my Favorites: MGM (I love the theater), but we spent most of our days at Magic Kingdom with the girls (which I loved too). Epcott is my least favorite. Favorite ride: ..not sure I have one, I Like so many of them.... I'll think about this and get back to you. So far, Dixie Landings was my favorite (it is not Port Orleans Riverside, I believe). We are doing a Value Resort this year. Not sure about it, but thought the girls would like it (Movie one).

If you start a journal, I will be sure to 'post' on it.

Well, I want to take the girls out (it is beautiful). They wanted to plant flowers, but for the life of me I cannot find any of my flower packets. I searched all morning (too early anyway, but thought we could plant a few in pots). I do hope to get my Spinach, Lettuce, and Turnips in my vegetable garden though.
Hope you are having a good day.

                  • Re: Easter challenge?

MK is my favorite park - probably always will be because it's just so Disney. You walk down Main Street the first day of vacation and say "I'm here!!!". LOL. With teenagers Epcot became the most frequented of the parks. Both of mine did the Mission:Space ride when I wasn't around and I got really ticked off. I know that nothing is 100% safe but another person just died after riding it so it's off my list for good. Probably all of them had underlying problems that would have killed them eventually but enough is enough. Soarin' is wonderful and worth a long wait in line. We'll reap the benefits of the club more so down the road. Right now we're paying it off so it's a tough monthly bill to fit in. It's the only frivolous thing we've ever done for ourselves and I don't regret it. We got our new yearly allottment of points in January and if we don't switch them out for something somewhere else we'll bank them and probably go to the Hilton Head or Vero Beach resort next year. We'd have enough between this years points, next years, and maybe even borrow a third year to probably do both WDW and Vero Beach in one long vacation.

Well, we made it. Easter is tomorrow morning and I'm glad we stuck it out. I'm two pounds from the goal I set so I'm happy. I have not kept up with posting in the abs challenge thread but will have to get moving. I've kept track but never seem to make the time to post it........

                    Happy Easter!!!

Hope you had a Happy Easter! It was good here, and surpisingly pretty easy to stick to the low carb. First year in forever with no candy in a basket for me.

I weighed in yesterday morning at 135.8 lbs., I missed my goal by 5.8 lbs. I really wanted to see 130, but I know I did my best (minus a few bumps, but still my best). I was however able to wear my pre-pregnancy pants yesterday! I also had my engagement and wedding band on all day . We took the girls for a walk and I felt the rings seem to get a little tight, but it did not last long!

Overall, I would say the challenge was a big sucess for me. Thank you for helping me along the way!

Now off to find/make a new challenge.
                      Keep in touch.
