  • Re: How Long Can You Go???

Man, I'm really dominating the thread this morning lol! I promise this'll be the last post for awhile (sims 2 is calling my name lol)

kat asked that I post the links to my journal posts about moving to the different rungs so people can get an idea of the transitions. A lot of people get stuck in induction and either don't know how to go about moving out of it, or get scared because really, it IS a change from our comfort zones.

You may find the posts lacking, I've been slacking a bit about writing in my journal lately, but they're here in case you're interested.

The first day of the veggie rung

The first day of the dairy rung

Also, I used to list all of my menus daily, so it may give you an idea of what to have. They are NOT perfect, but they're there if you want to look at them.

FedUp – Good job on staying cheat free! Internet issues are so frustrating.

Stephie – WooHoo! 2 weeks cheat free! It feels good, doesn’t it?

Tirtle – Way to go on passing up the brownie. What a good friend you have to hide her face while she’s eating. LOL That’s so funny!

Cristy – Sorry that you’re struggling so much lately. Would it help if we dished out some tough love instead of smoothing over things? It might be easier for you to pass up a cheat if you know you have to come here and be chewed out. And just think, if you take 2 steps forward every day and slip back 1, you’re still 1 step ahead of the game when the day ends. You can do this, no maybe about it!

Christine – Thanks for taking over for Marion while she’s gone! That’s cool that you were able to stay legal even though you ate tons of food. It’s sometimes really hard. My TOM just ended and I know that I ate way more than I needed during the whole thing, but it’s only a few days a month. Hope you enjoy your “cooler” weather!

Becca – Good for you for doing so well. Passing up popcorn for me is a big thing, and if you’re anything like me, it was no small feat. Of course, movie theater popcorn isn’t my favorite, but still. I bet you’ll really enjoy Pre-Maintenance. Woohoo for you for getting that far!!

Dolphin – Congrats on the twins graduation!! Don’t let it stress you out though. My mom has never let her age bother her, but milestones in my life (I’m the youngest) has. As I get older it makes her realize she’s getting older too. I look forward to seeing pics of the graduation.

Good for you for deciding that you’re just going to let minor upsets roll off your back. Keep hold of that Joy!!!

Thanks for creating the Thinspiration Scrapbook!

Congrats on the 10 pound loss!!!!

On the Oprah thing – I’d much rather be on Oprah than Springer. Maybe we could teach O the error of her ways…

I’m still going strong. I had a major hurdle this weekend when we ate out at Sonic. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with the intention of taking off the bun and eating it. When it got there, the bun looked sooo good, that I was really tempted to eat it, but after a lot of thought, I passed. It just would have contributed to making my butt bigger.

I’ve decided to extend my induction for a few weeks more before I more on. I don’t seem to be bored quite yet. I am looking forward to moving through the OWL rungs though, it’s just going to be awhile.

Today is All or Nothing Day.

All or Nothing Day - What's It About?

You're probably wondering what the heck All or Nothing Day is about. Have you ever heard that expression, "Today is the first day of the rest of your life?" This is the day to give something your all or don't even bother. It's the day to take a chance for once and do something you've always wanted to do but haven't. Even if it goes wrong or you end up failing - at least you tried! It's the day you live like it's your last.

All or Nothing Day - How to Observe It

So what are some of the things you should be giving your all? Take a minute and think about the things you would regret not doing if you were gone tomorrow. It's the day to say, "I love you", apologize or forgive an old friend and smile. Spend more time with your family, wear pink and practice like you've never practiced. Do something nice for someone, express yourself, don't deny your feelings and follow your heart. Today is all about you. Some things might hurt, like letting down your guard for the day but in the end it's worth it. Who knows what tomorrow brings. Most of all, enjoy the day.

        Carpe Diem!

Sitting here at lunch hour and decided to try FitDay. Question - I put in hard boiled egg and it calculated 2 gms of carbs each! I thought they had .6? If that's the case, no wonder I'm not losing more. I am way off in my estimates.

              Thanks for the encouragement, everyone.

              You guys are the best!

I made it through the evil birthday gathering and watched the rest of them eat the cake. That's kinda fun, actually. LOL !

              Breakfast:
              2 scrambled eggs
              3 strips bacon
              sliced cucumber

              Lunch:
burger, no bun of course, with a little mayo
              salsa
              green pepper strips

              Ok... I can do this!

LOL ! Probably wouldn't hurt, that's for sure! If you do, it won't make me mad - I'll know I deserved it. But hopefully I'll be so good you won't have to do that!

I usually enter one whole raw egg instead of choosing a cooking method. It counts that as one carb so it probably rounds it up. Actually it counts 2 eggs as one carb as well, so it probably just doesn't round and it sounds like one egg is pretty close to the .6 count you had.

                  Hope this helps.

Believe it or not, I did NOT gain. As a matter of fact, I've continued to lose with consistancy.

I lost about ten pounds my first week of induction, then the pounds decided to slowly peel off, one at a time. They're still doing that. I have lost at least a pound (usually two) every single week that I have been on the rungs.

One thing that everyone needs to remember is that when you up your carbs for your rungs that those aren't "free" added carbs. Try to use them specifically on the rung you are on. You don't have to be super strict about it...an extra cup of coffee, or one extra packet of Splenda is not going to make it all come crashing down, but do try to keep those carbs for the rungs...that's why they're there!

I'm still learning as I go, and I definitely stumble from time to time. It's hard when I see that I've got another 7 carbs I can have for the day and a mock danish and a soda is sounding much better than some brussels sprouts, but even if I do decide to have that mock danish and diet rite, I'm not ruining my diet. If I did it every day, I'm sure it wouldn't help, but noone is going to bite my head off for having a legal snack that may be a little more carby when I need it. We all support one another here (even when we fall!) and that's what I love about this place.

So, in a very long, drawn out and round about way, I'm saying...if you feel you're ready for the rungs, go for it! I know it can be scary and the decision can make you worry that you're going to screw it up and those extra carbs are going to make you stop losing, but try it. I was skeptical too, and I'm finding that it doesn't stop you from losing has made me more confidant.

I could write more and more and more about this topic, but I'll leave it at that for now. I'm happy to answer any questions if I can

I put a boiled egg in to my fitday after reading this and it said it had .558g carbs. That was after I changed it from the 1 cup that is their default, to 1 large. Are you making sure to change it to the portion you're having?

Other than that, I have no idea why it would be saying 2 carbs. I know that they round up or down, but it shouldn't be that much. Also, if you're new to fitday, don't forget that they don't take the dietary fiber out for you, so at the end of the day, subtract your dietary fiber from your carbs. I didn't know that at first and freaked out the first time I used it lol.

Christine - I realized that about the eggs after I stared at it for a while. I don't think FitDay will work for me because time is of the essence and I don't have time to add everything in every day. I will use the old fashioned pen and paper though.

Another day cheat free although I had 3 diet cokes today (in addition to my 100+ oz of water). I just couldn't bear any more water and was feeling thirsty.

I have a question for anyone who knows. I did the Stix when I got home and got a nice light shade of mauve. I then went for a 1 1/2 mile walk and decided to test again thinking that the exercise would boost it up...well, the darn thing didn't turn at all?!?

Either way the walk felt good. How is everyone else doing?
