      Tirtle,

      I do weigh more than my hubby. Maybe, if there is a next time for weight loss, and I sure hope there's not, I will not let him diet with me. I need to get below his weight. That is probably one of the most embarrassing things of all when it comes to me.

        Great to see so many newcomers here since i last popped in...welcome to you all.

        Stephie ...good to see you got back on track and held yourself accountable.Whats done is done...so now its time to step up a gear and get back to losing,good luck

        Turtle...yep....a great incentive not to cheat if you think dh might weigh less than you...nothing wrong with a healthy bit of competition...you go girl!!!!.

        Im still going strong although my back isnt lol and i feel much lighter this week...im feeling quite confident that the scale/tape measure is going to be kinder to me this time round.
        I dont want to overdo things with the exercise at present but im finding that if i take things gently, that my back actually feels a little better from it.
        I went swimming for an hour yesterday and felt soo much better after that. Im definetly going to swim more often from now on.

          ImCommitted, watch out for sneaky Chinese food, it has corn startch in 99% and sugar/sweetner in 80% of their dishes, so specify that you want your food prepared without either. You're right about the Atkins ratio.

          Booklady things will be alright, you'll be back with your 2 week button in no time.

          Gabby, I feel you on being stuck on the scale, but remember its better to be stuck and have a whooshie eventually than to cheat and lose the weight loss. Yes it is psychological adjusting, I'm with you on that.

          Kat, I just wub you!! When I see your signature green font I know you've been speading your joy.

          Dot, It'll get cooler, this too shall pass and stay encouraged.

            Still, going strong with being cheat free. Although, I have to admit, I'm having a little internal tug of war going on in my head about Saturday. It is my Anniversary, and my husband and I plan to go to a nice restaurant out of town and do a little shopping afterwards. I really haven't been out to eat since I started this WOE so I'm really nervous about making sure I stay on track- at least I still have a couple more days to get my thoughts in order and prepare myself- LOL!!!!

              Congratulations on your Anniversary!!! How many years?

              I went out to eat with my hubby/stepson/stepson's girlfriend a week ago Saturday and it was my first time out on this way of eating. Anyway, when the kids invited us to go, I asked if they minded if we came up with a couple of restaurant suggestions and called them back. They were fine with it. My hubby and I then came up with three different Atkins friendly options and let them choose. We ended up at a steak place (Longhorn) and I ate steak and salad. They brought a whole loaf of bread to the table, which I did not eat and the side offerings were mostly not Atkins friendly, but if you get your mind set straight before you get there, you should be fine. Good luck to you and congratulations again!

                I have decided that I will probably just let my daughter and mother go out to eat chinese and I will opt for something more "user friendly". I have been committed this long, I don't want to do anything to jeopardize future success.

                Thanks for your input. (I also know that this specific restaurant does not offer a buffet.)

                  Loana – Welcome to the team! Way to go on being 1 week and 3 days cheat-free so far. By the way, I really like your name. Do you pronounce it Low Ahnah or Loan ah?

                  FedUp – 2 weeks and 4 days cheat-free!! WooHoo! Take care of yourself and hopefully you’ll start feeling better soon. If your BP problems persist, make sure you get to a doctor asap.

                  ImCommited – Excellent work on being cheat-free! I honestly can’t answer your Chinese food questions. If it’s a buffet, there’s a lot of danger, but if it’s an actual restaurant where you can order stuff, you should be ok with veggies and grilled meat. I like Chinese, but it’s all that stuff we should avoid – sesame chicken, egg rolls, etc. – so I’m staying away until I get further educated.

                  Kislandmom – I agree with ImCommited on the ratio. I’m pretty sure it’s 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs too. I hope the scale demon is kind to you on your next weigh-in!

                  Stephie – I’m so proud of you for cutting back on your caffeine! That’s a big step! It should only take a few days for your body to get used to this lower amount. Good job on getting back on the wagon. Congrats on 2 days cheat-free! You’ll see that two week blinkie again in no time.

                  Gabrielle – Way to go on still being cheat-free. Awesome on passing up the dessert bar. Everything always looks so yummy on those things and it’s hard to walk away. I think once our mental selves start coming around, our physical one does as well. I know I’ve made huge strides psychologically as well. Happy moving!

                  Tirtle - I have to agree with you that a motivation to lose is because DH is. I feel the same way. I don’t want to be heavier than my DH either, because then you know people are making comments like ‘what’s a hottie like that doing with HER?”

                  Congrats on day 1 cheat-free!! You’re right – you will do this!! Hope you find a way to stay cool!

                  Sharon – Sorry to hear you’re still suffering from back problems. It’s good that light exercise makes it feel better. Swimming is such a good exercise and a good relaxer. Hope your weigh-in gives you the satisfaction you’re looking for.

                  Kat – How are you doing, girl? I need to drop by your journal one of these days. I’m trying to catch-up with everything and sometimes get sidetracked.

                  Dolphin – Sorry to hear the scale is fooling you. It’ll start moving soon though!

                  Roxy – Happy Anniversary (a little early)! Don’t stress too much about eating out this weekend. You can only do the best that you can do. You might check to see if they have a website with their menu listed and then you can start planning what you’ll eat. I’ve eaten out a lot since I’ve started this woe, and I know I’m not always perfect, but I make the best decisions I can with what I have. You’ll do good, I know it! And congratulations on being cheat-free for 3 weeks! That’s an excellent accomplishment!!

                  I’m still doing good and my cheat-free blinkies get to change everyday. The only thing I’m craving now is sleep. I have been sleeping like crap lately, heck, lately is actually probably more like 6 months. The lack of sleep combined with this sinus junk that seems to be stuck to me is really dragging me down. I just want to sleep…

                      roshan362, way to go for continuing to stay cheat free! You're doing amazing! I'm jealous that you've been swimming...out of all the exercise there is, that's got to be my absolute favorite! I hope your back starts feeling better soon!

                      Dolphin babe, I've definitely had those "I feel skinny!" days, and the scale doesn't move If you're feeling good though, who cares? It's gonna come off, especially with all those cheat free days you're knockin' back!

                      Roxy, first, congrats on your anniversary! Second, feel empowered that you CAN go out to eat on this WoE! Have a steak and salad, or some lobster and a green veggie. You can still go out to a special dinner and really enjoy it!

                      ImCommitted, can you ask the restaurant if they have a stirfry with no sugar/flour/msg? It'd be a great way to go, and all good carbs.

                      NewMeIn2006, way to go on staying cheat free! I hear you on the sleeping thing...I've been having a hard time getting a decent nights rest for some time now. I hope you can soon!

                      As for me, I'm doing well. I was really low on my carbs yesterday, so that extra ounce and a half of cheese I added right before I went to bed isn't a cheat. I just don't like eating before bed, but I was SNACKY like you wouldn't believe. I think my hormones are all out of whack because I've been weepy one minute and a raging well...you know what the next. Hope I even out soon!

                          This is probably my last check in for the week. Still cheat free and feeling great. Scale finally moved so big lesson learned for me... don't stress about it, especially during TOM. Big thing for me was not being tempted to quit when I was stuck on the scale. All diets before I was stuck at 215 and ended up quitting as my body seems to really hang on to the weight at 215. Anyway, today I'm down to 213.9 so goodbye 215 forever thank you. Have to update my siggy.

                          Thanks for keeping up this challenge. I'm sure it takes time when you respond to everyone and it is REALLY appreciated! Have a good one!

                            Good Afternoon everyone! I hope everyone is able to stay cool.


                            Gabrielle - I know it is easy to get discouraged with only a few pounds but just remember, Slow and Steady wins the race!

                            Dolphin - I have been feeling lighter too but my scale says no way! I don't measure again until the end of this month but I am hoping for some big changes.

                            Roshan - Swimming is so good for you. It's great exercise without the strain on your joints. Your are so lucky to have access to a pool.

                            Roxy - Whenever I am going out to eat for a special occasion, I plan on having Steak. It's not something I get all the time when we go out because it's so expensive. Happy Anniversary.

                            Committed - How about having your own "Chinese Night" at home. You could make the Mock-Cauli Fried Rice and some stir fry. You could even make it fun and get chop sticks and have your daughter make Asian themed decorations.

                            Steph - I am with you on the caffeine. I was finally able to break the habit and I know it is so much better for me not to have it. I don't even finish one Diet Coke each day now when I was a 12 pack a day girl. Keep it up.

                            I happy to say that I am into another cheat free day. I made a HUGE mistake last night by taking some medicine to bring on the Whooshie. I was so sick all night and after all that, the scale says I only dropped 1 pound. Believe me, I will not be doing that again. I felt like I was in labor. I am going to try harder to find that flax meal.

                                Hi! It's 108 !!!

                                I've been in this heat before when I was in the Middle East and it got up to 140's, but the humidity is a killer. Water, water, water.

                                The ratio for induction I've always seen is 65%/30%/5%, and as you progress through the stages, you get to 60/30/10 and you end up around 45-55/30/15-25 if I recall accurately.

                                If you aren't into following the percentages during induction you keep your fat and protein gram numbers about the same it'll accomplish the same thing. Since protein has 4 cals per gram and fat has 9 cals per gram, that'll keep the ratio around the right place.
                                20g carbs x 4cals per g = 80 cals = 6%
                                100g protein x 4 cals per g = 400 cals = 29%
                                100g fat x 9 cals per g = 900 cals = 65%
                                1380 cals total

                                It's almost exact, but it's different ways to keep track if you don't use a tool like a journal or fitday.
