Actually, I should tell you, now that you have it in your succession of before/after pictures, I thought for a split second it was another photo of you... which was a little scary.

Gee THANKS! Those feet are too small though...while I have short toes like our stunning model in the photo, I have huge feet. Size 10, baby!

I actually have pretty nice calves--very slim, look great in heels. I wish my thighs matched.

*sigh* I wish I had slim calves - mine are very wide and always have been, even when I was slim. They seem to get bigger if I don't exercise and bigger if I do...grrr. Getting boots is really hard I have to get them from the plus size shop, but then my (thin) feet slosh around inside and I have to wear 3 pairs of my BF sox!

I keep meaning to ask in the exercise forum if there is some magic exercise to slender them out.

Well done for not weighing everyone!

Er, the xanax makes me have weird dreams. The picture of the "ankles" gives me the freaking creeps! I had a dream that I had really fat calves and small feet. In my dream I am standing in front of a full mirror saying "omg, those cannot be my ankles, my calves aren't that big!". I basically carry most of my weigh in my hips, waist, boobs, and face. I am happy with my legs for the most part. But that picture in my signature. *shudder* It gives me nightmares. Just sayin'

Barb, do you do calf raises? The PT at the gym has me do them on a back squat machine...so instead of putting your back on the machine, you face into it, stand on the bar, and lower and raise the weights (or just the sled) with your calf muscles. WOW, it's a workout!

Yup, I'm a drop out! I'm far too neurotic at this moment to stick with this challenge! I appreciate your starting it Juli but I can only take so many lashings for my behavior!

                      January 10, 2007: DAY 10

Here's your SCALE SCOFF for the day, 1/10/07:

                      The Fortune Telling Scale:

A nun was going to Chicago. She went to the airport and sat down waiting for
her flight. She looked over in the corner of the waiting room and saw a
weighing machine that also tells your fortune. So, she thought to herself,
"I'll give it a try just to see what it tells me.".

She went over to the machine, put a quarter in, and out came a card that
read, "You're a nun who weighs 128 pounds and you're going to Chicago,
                      Illinois."

She sat down and thought about it. She reasoned that it probably tells
everyone the same thing, but decided to try it again. She went back to the
machine, put her quarter in, and out came a card that read, "You're a nun,
you weigh 128 pounds, you're going to Chicago, Illinois, and you're going to
play a fiddle." The nun said to herself, "I know that's wrong! I have never
played a musical instrument a day in my life."

She sat back down when out of nowhere a cowboy sat next to her and set his
fiddle case in the seat next to the lady. The nun picked up the fiddle and
played the most beautiful music, as if she had been playing for years.
Startled, she looked back at the machine and said, "This is incredible! I've
                      got to try it again!"

Back to the machine she went. She put her quarter in and another card came out that read, "You're a nun, you weigh 128 pounds, you're going to Chicago,
Illinois, and you're going to break wind." Now the nun knew the machine was
wrong. "I've never broken wind in public a day in my life!" She turned
around and tripped, falling off the scale, breaking wind. Stunned, she sat
back down and looked at the machine. She said to herself, This is truly
unbelievable! I've got to try it again!"

She went back to the machine, put in a quarter, and collected the card. It
said, "You're a nun, you weigh 128 pounds, you have fiddled and farted
around and missed your plane to Chicago!!!"
Today I'm doing fine, no desire to weigh, because I think my recent success is due to the fact that I've stayed OFF the darn scale! Even I am noticing how much thinner I look, and that's a big thing--I'm my own worst critic. I only hope that this losing streak keeps up until February, and that I can keep off the scale until then, too!

                        Cute joke, Julie.

The way you are exercising and eating right, I know you are getting thinner. I'm glad you can see the difference in the mirror. So many times we have distorted images of ourselves.

I did not weigh again today. It would be an understatement to say that I wanted to! I still feel wonderful!

How cool that you can SEE and FEEL that you're getting thinner. That's awesome! I feel and see it in my clothes, but when I've just gotten out of the shower in the mornings and am checking myself out in the mirror... it's frankly still hard to see. But, that's why I'm workin' my booty off at the gym these days, right? Muffin top, be gone!!

I used to do standing ones but I don't tend to do leg weights anymore because they always kill from running or stairmisstressing (as I prefer to call it ). My gym doesn't have a machine like this unfortunately, but I guess standing ones may help? I have a fear that the muscle in their will get bigger though - because it is mainly muscle as far as I can tell.
