    MONDAY STATS CHECK

    Hey all!
Sorry I've been MIA, we've had a busy weekend! (as you will see is usual!)
I ended up not making all of my goals this week and today I caved and had some almonds! GRRRR ... I'm so mad at myself. But I will start again NOW!
#1 - I'm cutting out all nuts!! (they're the worst for me)... I hope this helps my mindless snacking! NO last week made 7/7 though...
#2 - All fruit except for berries and an occasional apple. 7/7
#3 - No more than 4 oz of cheese a day - this includes cream cheese! lol 5/7
    #4 - I'll exercise at least 4 days a week for 60 minutes Haven't exercised yet 0/7
    #5 - To track my food into fit-day daily5/7
    #7 - I'll drink at least 80 oz of water a day. 5/7
    #8 - & I'll see about cutting out the coffee 5/7
    #9 - No more beans!!! 7/7
#10 - To be cheat free for the entire challenge! 7/7

    Extra Credit:
I was too lazy to work out in the morning and drank too much with hubby in the evenings making me lazy again! I did good all week until I went out to lunch with hubby on Friday and ate fajitas and had 2 michelobe ultras... that kind of set me off to a bad weekend of eating too much. Though I didn't eat anything off plan. Today I caved and had nuts because I was tired and feeling crappy and just wanted to eat! Sigh... Will do better this week!

      MONDAY STATS CHECK:
#1: I will not eat after dinner, and where possible, dinner should be before 7pm. (5/7)

#2: I will record ALL food eaten each day, keeping cals under 1500 and carbs under net35g per day (7/7)

#3: I will do cardio five to six times per week, 30 min sessions or more. (Done)
      - Pilates Bum and Legs workout once times per week. (Not Done)
      - Billy Blanks Bootcamp (Don't laugh, it's fab!) twice per week. (Only once)
      - Abs, hips and bum weights at gym three times per week. (Done)

#4: I will not eat more than one serving of nuts per day; one serving of hard cheese per day; and one serving of soft cheese per day. (5/7)

#5: I will take measurements and weigh in on Mon and Fri but won't get despondent and ruin an entire day after a bad weigh-in. (weighed in on Friday but not today because I knew I was in for trouble if I did. Just that feeling.)

      Extra credit:
What derailed me and what could I have done differently?
I was so busy workwise and I work from home so I found myself wanting to move my jaw as stress set in...it's not great being so near to your own kitchen all the time. I exercised less than ever because of it, all in all didn't feel the vooma that I usually do. At the gym had no energy either. What I should have done was... manage my time better, get to the gym earlier rather than leave it til the end of the day.

        MONDAY STATS CHECK

I started on Tuesday so here's how it turned out.

        My pledges will be:

        1. I will only eat 3 oz of cheese a day.

        2. I will use Fitday everyday.
        3. I will finish the C25K challenge, running 3x/week.
        4. I will start gradually adding decaf to my regular coffee until I'm only drinking decaf.

5 I will drink 100+ oz of water every day.
        6 I will take a multi-vitamin and a calcium supplement every day.

        7. I will not cheat and that includes sugar free candy.

        8. I will post at least twice a week in Journal Stats and earn the Journal Stats Award at the end of December.

EXTRA CREDIT: What derailed me last week and what could I have done differently?
Cheese is my favorite food so it was hard not to eat more and I'm surprised I took my vitamins and only missed them one day. I always forget to take them. As for running, I have just been lazy. I'll try harder and do better next week.

"What derailed you last week, and what could you have done differently?"

I was not derailed, but several days were very difficult to pull off. I needed to budget my time better, and not let mealtimes sneak up on me, so I had to rush and gobble my dinner to get it in before 7:00 p.m. I barely made it under the wire last night.

This is an unusual week, what with needing to get ready for about two weeks of little use of my upper body, after surgery. I did learn that I can stay on track through very difficult situations. With my medical conditions, this will be the norm rather than the exception, so I need to get used to it. This is real life for me.

Being in this challenge helped tremendously with keeping me on track and cheat-free. Thank you for being here!!!

            Hey Adre, Aya and Purple:

Great job on keeping up with so many great goals! For tracking purposes, would you pick your top four, the hardest things you had to stick to, and let me know which they were so that I can calculate the points for the week? You might have surprised yourself with which ones were hardest.

You can PM me with the top four and I will add your stats, plus the extra credit question.

            Cheers,
            Titian

I messed up yesterday. Somebody delivered prepackaged cookie dough I bought as a fundraiser and I just started eating it. Frustrated at myself, I know it's emotional eating because I'm tired of my eye hurting and I hate taking the steroids that don't seem to be making it better. Back on track today, though. That stuff really made me feel bad, didn't help a thing.

Re: Slow Losers Club Christmas Challenge

Getting back on track is the most important thing. When you hurt, physically or emotionally, it is so much harder to keep on track. It feels like there's just no extra strength to self-discipline on top of every thing else.

The cookie dough is in the past. Pick yourself up and keep on going.

Re: Slow Losers Club Christmas Challenge

Thanks, guys! Last night I cut up some okra, shook it up with some parmesan cheese, fried it with olive oil--Man that's good! Better than cookie dough, very filling and I don't feel bad physically or emotionally from eating it. I may have a new addiction, though! In the "old" pre-Atkins days, I would have eaten ALL the cookie dough. I did restrain myself fairly quickly this time.

This is a process, I didn't become a horrible eater all in one bite and I'm not going to turn back into a responsible good eater all at once. (Wish I would, but it's harder than that). So, even though I'm disappointed in myself to some extent, I'm also a little proud of myself that I'm showing progress. Each time I resist, each time I change a bad habit I become stronger and better at this. Hanging on to that and having the support of others here that understand will get me through.

Learning how to handle life and all its problems while eating every day is part of learning to change my way of eating. I don't care how much weight I lose, if I don't change my mindset it won't make any long term difference. I want this to be permanent, so I'll mess up, learn and go on. That's about all any of us can do.

                    Thanks for the support.

                        You go, Brady. Well done!

I am doing pretty well with mine. I am finally (FINALLY) feeling better...95% or so. I haven't exercised as hard as I wanted, but even at my sickest I parked my car in the farthest spot away in the auxilary lot (ended up being about a quarter mile!) from work, just to get that little bit of exercise in. Always taking the stairs. Even if you can't fit in a real workout, you can make small alterations in your every day activities to keep those calories a'burnin'.

I am looking forward to starting a new week, fresh. Not sick, nothing to knock me off track. Just a great week. With my first decent (still atkins-friendly) meal, I immediately gained back the two pounds I had lost, but since then I have lost one, so since this challenge started, I am down a pound. Is it stomach flu, or is it....CHALLENGE SUCCESS!!!???? I know we only get points for 100% complete weeks, but if you eat right, or skip coffee, or exercise only 6 out of the 7, those still count in real life. The challenge is simply that extra bit of motivation to keep us going. Yay Challenge, yay Slow Losers club!!

                            FRIDAY CHECK-IN (10/19/07)
#1: I will not eat after dinner, and where possible, dinner should be before 7pm. Done so far

#2: I will record ALL food eaten each day, keeping cals under 1500 and carbs under net35g per day Done so far but ate 40g carbs twice...

#3: I will do cardio five to six times per week, 30 min sessions or more. (So far 4 of 5)
                            - Pilates Bum and Legs workout once times per week. (Not Done)
                            - Billy Blanks Bootcamp (Don't laugh, it's fab!) twice per week. (No)
                            - Abs, hips and bum weights at gym three times per week. (not yet)

#4: I will not eat more than one serving of nuts per day; one serving of hard cheese per day; and one serving of soft cheese per day. Done

#5: I will take measurements and weigh in on Mon and Fri but won't get despondent and ruin an entire day after a bad weigh-in. (Done.)

Obstacles so far: Exercise has been the biggest challenge ever whereas before I had more time and went when I was feeling strong. Now if I go at night I'm totally whacked and 30 mins on the elliptical is torture. Need to to sort this out else my shape will never change from flabby.

Measurements: waist-27 (down from 28.3) hips 33.5 (down from 34.5) arm 10 (down from 10.5) Weight 127.6 (down from 12
The scale is only a slight loss but I'm thrilled because I was feeling really bloated and yucky despite having been legal all week. All in all, very chuffed and ready to keep going this weekend and next week!

Keep it up everyone! Let's try especially hard this weekend to keep away from the temptations!

Tomorrow will be a tough day and right now I don't want to plan for it. Plans are still changing for tomorrow, so it's harder when you don't really know what's going to happen. I am determined to not cheat, however, so I WILL find a way to eat correctly. I may end up not eating as much as I need to during the day, but doing this has made me think of a couple of snacks I CAN take. I'll be fine.
