  • Re: Slow Losers Club Christmas Challenge

    Hello,

I've been AWOL a while, various life blahs jumped up and bit me. I haven't cheated, but I've not stuck to my goals for this challenge. Sorry let all you guys down.

    I've had splenda.
I slugged on the exercise challenge.
I had cocoa not at weekends.
    I went crazy for cream.
Smoothie allowance still on track at least that's one thing.

I think it's to do with stress, and in some ways it is good for me to be able to 'cheat' and say 'what the hey' and still be within the confines of the diet and my carbs - BUT it won't help me lose.

SO, back on track today and looking forward to the veg challenge I'm also doing.

Titianwasp - glad you're feeling better.
Sunny - am thinking of you

his is for the whole week up to Saturday. I have been having computer problems. I can barely get online and can't post.

      My pledges will be:

      1. I will only eat 3 oz of cheese a day.
      2. I will use Fitday everyday. I haven't used fitday or posted since the 17th due to my computer acting crazy. I'll be lucky to get this posted. I don't have any idea what's wrong with it. I'll post as I can.
      3. I will finish the C25K challenge, running 3x/week. 1/3
      4. I will start gradually adding decaf to my regular coffee until I'm only drinking decaf.
I have been dring my coffee made wwith 2 scoops of decaf and yesterday I did half and half.

5 I will drink 100+ oz of water every day.
6 I will take a multi-vitamin and a calcium supplement every day. I've only taken them twice this week.

      7. I will not cheat and that includes sugar free candy. I cheated yesterday for the first time in a long time. I had a funnel cake at the Fall Fest for my son's school.

      8. I will post at least twice a week in Journal Stats and earn the Journal Stats Award at the end of December. 2/2

okay folks, I'm here, but not a happy camper. My arms are wrapped, mummy style, from my shoulders to my second knuckles, so it is very hard to type.

my whole upper body is restrained and wrapped, so it's hard to move. We had to remove and clean and replace bandages yesterday, so we got to see for the first time how bad they did the surgery. It's done totally wrong, and was a waste of time, pain and money. It will have to be done again! We are all so mad. I have to go tomorrow for the staples and four drains to be removed, and you might hear the screaming for a hundred miles.

I have stayed 100% legal. Of course, I didn't eat anything at all on Wednesday, and only broth and soft scrambled eggs on Thursday. I've gotten my appetite back and now eating regular meals and drinking all my water. It's hard to stay legal, since my sister doesn't understand the way I eat and she tries to keep me from doing anything for myself. Frustration makes me just want to grab stuff and eat it. Good thing I cooked up so much food and froze it before she got here. I had a hard time not stress eating last night, after seeing the botch job the surgeon did. Only my challenges kept me straight.

Well, it's back to bed for now. Thanks for being here.

        Sunny!

Sunny, you're amazing and definitely an inspiration to me! The fact that you can go through all this and remain legal is brilliant. Not even any typos! So sorry your surgery was a botch job. I hope tomorrow is bearable pain-wise and I hope you keep strong. You don't realise how much your courage helps to keep us all on the straight and narrow!

#3: I will do cardio five to six times per week, 30 min sessions or more. (4/7)
                - Pilates Bum and Legs workout once times per week. (Not Done)
                - Billy Blanks Bootcamp (Don't laugh, it's fab!) twice per week. (No)

Extra credit: Was feeling so bloated and yucky a lot of last week and felt as if no matter how well I stuck to this nothing was changing, then suddenly on Friday morning the scale started doing a downward so am feeling quite psyched right now. Managed to eat less cheese, no treats and curbed evening cravings thanks to my new best friend, Pu-erh tea (Wholefoods). Highly recommended and a great digestant! This week I need to focus on the exercise.

Sunny, what a mess! I do hope you are feeling better soon. Someone better be bringing you flowers and (Atkins friendly)treats!

My week has been pretty good. I think I need to tighten my calories slightly or increase the intensity of my exercise. Just the walking is beneficial, but I think I need to log some gym time to see the kind of results I am looking for. My body is smaller, I think, but pretty squishy. Time to start tightening the squish!

                        MONDAY STATS CHECK 10/22

                        1. No coffee: 7/7 100% (this is getting easier)
                        2. Exercise 4 days: 4/4 100% (need to exercise harder though)
                        3. No grazing after dinner: 7/7 100% (also getting easier)
                        4. Calories under 1500: 5/7 (gotta get more serious about this)

What helped me stay on track the most?
Honestly, habit. They say that it takes 21 days to firmly form a habit, but I found a week or two really gets you going. Cutting out the coffee has been actually the easiest (maybe because I am addicted to the hot beverage, rather than the caffeine, and so can substitute). No grazing has been pretty easy because my stomach gave me so much trouble. Exercise has been harder, again due to the tummy, and the calories has been harder, because, well, we're designed to eat. I need to be more vigilent with my calories. I have to say, also, that being accountable to my challenge has definitely kept me more honest. Thanks everyone!!

For this week, I'm in the veggie challenge-so I'm adding that I need to have at least 20 net carbs of veggies a day this week.

                            Extra credit-
What helped me stay on track and what worked this week?

Diarying my food really does help me stay on track. I don't know why I hate doing it so bad. I am developing a habit of doing it and it is getting easier, though. It's interesting to see how some days I feel like I've overeaten, but when I actually track my eating I'm low on calories or carbs. Somedays I feel I haven't eaten that much but I end up high for calories or carbs. So, my mind can play tricks on me and keeping a hard copy of my actual eating can prevent some nasty surprises.

It also does help me to stay on track to post here often. It keeps my mind on behaving myself instead of tempting myself. I think the medicine is finally working on my iritis, so now I need to bump up my exercise again. I half-heartedly tried last night, but I need to get in gear today. I think my body needed the rest, so I'm trying not to feel guilty about taking it. Now I just need to not let myself fall back into the laziness that got me fat in the first place. The support here helps so much-just knowing others are going through the same struggles encourages me to try harder.
