    My pledges are:
    1. I will only eat 3 oz of cheese a day. 7/7
    2. I will use Fitday everyday. 4/7
    3. I will finish the C25K challenge, running 3x/week. 0/3
    4. I will start gradually adding decaf to my regular coffee until I'm only drinking decaf. 7/7

5, I will drink 100+ oz of water every day. 4/7
    6. I will take a multi-vitamin and a calcium supplement every day. 6/7
    7. I will not cheat and that includes sugar free candy. 4/7
    8. I will post at least twice a week in Journal Stats. 1/2

    My new pledges

I've gotten my cheese eating under control so I will take it off my pledges. I'm going to continue drinking my coffee half and half from now on and am not going to continue adding decaf. I feel good about drinking it half and half and don't feel I need to cut it out all together. I'm also not doing so well with the C25K challenge and the challenge is now a ghost challenge. No one is posting anymore. That doesn't mean I won't run anymore. I like it somewhat. It's not bad on my knees like I thought it would be. My knees only hurt if I walk and I still don't understand why that is. I also need to make sure I'm doing all of my exercises in the challenges I signed up for. I'm supposed to be doing each one, five days a week. I've also cheated a couple of times since we started and don't want it to become a habit. Being sick is not an excuse. I also want to eat more vegetables, so that is one of my new pledges also. I haven't been eating as many as I should lately. As I move back up the rungs, I will add more net veggies. Also, I think I've been eating too many calories and that's why I wasn't losing. If I eat under 1700 calories, I lose. (I think, we'll see!)

    My new improved pledges are:

    1. I will eat under 1700 calories each day. 0/7
    2. I will do all my exercise challenges. 5/days a week. 0/5
    3. I will eat 12+ net veggie carbs/day. 0/7

    4. I will use fitday everyday. 0/7

    5. I will not cheat. 0/7
    6. I will drink 125+ oz of water/day. 0/7
    7. I will take my multi-vitamin and my calcium supplement every day. 0/7
    8. I will post at least twice/week in Journal Stats. 0/2

Extra Credit Assignment Week 6 (11-19-07)

What is your favorite new recipe or new food that you have tried in the last 90 days??? To me, the key to making this a way of life and to keep from wanting to go back to the old way of eating, is to always be finding new foods and new ways of preparing old favorites to develop ‘new’ legal favorites and make this WOE interesting enough to stay the course.

This was submitted by Oh.2.B.Fit. I just tried them this morning for breakfast and they were great!

      Cheesecake Pancakes

      Ingredients
      2 large eggs
      4 oz Cream Cheese
      Sweetzfree (to taste) or Splenda
      .5 tsp Cinnamon, ground
1 tbsp Flax Seed Meal (ground flax)

      DIRECTIONS
Place the egg whites in a separate bowl and beat with electric mixer until stiff peaks appear.

Place the cream cheese in a large bowl and beat with the mixer until smooth. Beat in the egg yolks and the the sweetner, cinnamon, salt and flaxseed meal. Fold in the egg whites.

Heat large heavy fry pan over meduim low heat. Grease lightly with butter. Form pancakes using about 1/4 cup of the batter for each pancake. Cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes each side. Don't rush these- if you cook them on too high of a tempature, the butter will burn.

Can be served with Butter, Fruit, Whipped Cream...whatever you like. They're great plain!!! I had a hard time flipping them without them falling apart, but they're still GOOD!!!

      Nutrition Facts

1 Serving (2 servings would cut everything in half which is what I SHOULD have done).

      Amount Per Serving
      Calories 581
      Fat 52
      Cholesterol 545
      Carb 7
      Fiber 2
      Protein 22
      5 NET CARB

      HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Thanks! I plan to take pictures at the end of this challenge. I wish I could find the special blouse that I wore with the winter white suit. I am so pumped! The exercises that I did yesterday didn't hurt very bad, so I have done a bunch of stuff already today. I had forgotten what a rush of energy I get from moving my body.

        Sunny!

Wow! 4 to your christmas goal is awesome! You've got over a month! I can't wait until Friday to weigh!

This is the cheeriest that this challenge group has been for a week or two. Well done, everybody! Sunny, doesn't the exercise feel great? And it sounds like a few of us are losing some pounds too! Friday I hit a new low of 145.4, though of course I will bounce around for a few days. That's ok. The low weight is the true weight.

Keep it up everyone. I am glad to see so many optimistic, enthusiastic posts!

              Extra Credit:

I have tried a few new recipes, but my favorite is already listed above (cheesecake pancakes). I like the pumpkin with cream cheese in a mug, too. And the melted cheese crisps. Maybe those are my new favorites? So hard to chose! What a wonderful quandry for a dieter!

                MONDAY STATS CHECK (11/19)
#1: I will not eat after dinner, and where possible, dinner should be before 7pm. (5/7)

                #2: I will record ALL food eaten each day, keeping cals under 1500 and carbs under net35g per day (7/7) {UPDATE: am increasing carbs to 40-50g and seeing if that creates a huge problem. I need to add more starchy foods/legal wholegrains to my diet...slowly}

#3: I will do cardio five to six times per week, 30 min sessions or more. (5/5)
                - Pilates Bum and Legs workout once times per week. (0)
                - Billy Blanks Bootcamp (Don't laugh, it's fab!) twice per week. (0
                - Abs, hips and bum weights at gym three times per week. (2/3)

#4: I will not eat more than one serving of nuts per day; one serving of hard cheese per day; and one serving of soft cheese per day. (4/7)

#5: I will take measurements and weigh in on Mon and Fri but won't get despondent and ruin an entire day after a bad weigh-in (Fine)

My current favorite snack is 2oz of cream cheese mixed with 1tbs soynut butter and 1 splenda. Really filling and satisfying! Soynut butter has 1g net carbs and I love it.

Tonight for dinner I made pumpkin soup with a can of pumpkin puree, 1 cup almond breeze milk (1g carb/cup), 1 cup stock, some cream, seasonings...so good! The almond breeze gives it a very creamy taste and is low cal.

I also like doing a stir-fry of bean sprouts and shrimp with 1tbs mayo, 1/2 tsp curry powder - try it! Better than it sounds! Mushrooms would be good in there too.

Alexa, thanks for your veg soup, definitely going to try that!

Sunny, I'm 5f5 (just) and small-boned. I think each person is different but in my case and with my build I could very easily lose 10lb. And firm/tone up.

                Have a good week everyone!

This is the cheeriest I've been in a long while! I'm actually starting to feel human once again. Strange part is, TOM snuck up on me with no PMS, no cravings, no wanting to eat everything in the kitchen, including the sink, but I got my big energy surge I always get on the first day.

I have been going all day, went grocery shopping (which I hate) and went to choir practice for the cantata--and I'm still not tired. I may have over-done it a bit today with the exercise--my good leg is really sore. It's hard to limp on both of them.

I hope everyone is planning to have a delicious, legal Thanksgiving! I am so excited at the menu I have planned. I won't be cheating a bit, but I know it will be scrumptious!

                  Sunny!

Just checking in to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving! I've started my cooking for tomorrow and am excited about some of my creations. I am thinking seriously about writing a low carb cook book. I've been trying out new recipes and tweaking them to make them better. Some, I am dreaming up on my own. I love this WOE!

                      7. drink 100 oz a day of water to flush out steroids--this week no, but better

I was fighting a cold/sinus gunk and didn't do so great last week. Sorry I'm late posting, I've been a little crazy.

I'm feeling better, had a positive result at the doctor with my iron count, so I've decided to go back to induction for a week to get myself back on track. I'm also going to re-start my exercise videos at least 4 times a week in addition to walking. I'm tired of being so scattered emotionally and physically and it's time to get 100% serious about this WOE. I want to lose some pounds and inches by Christmas and I know I feel better exercising regularly. I have a brisket in the oven so it'll be easy to get started right. Plenty of veggies in the fridge, so I'm starting the week new on Friday and am excited to be getting my head straight again.

                        Hey guys!

Happy Thanksgiving all! Not a great week, Atkins-wise, for me - but otherwise a great week. The holiday is over, I feel rested, envigorated, and after spending yesterday watching Discovery Health's Sunday Sideshow (my title) of the "Half Ton Man" and "Inside Brookhaven Hospital for the Morbidly Obese" well into the night, boy do I feel great about Atkins, dieting, exercise and life in general.

Those shows made me think a bit (and made me get on the treadmill!). Y'all, don't ever forget how lucky we are. Maybe some of us have some health problems, and we're all bigger than we like, but we're doing something about it. We have support, we have goals, and we're succeeding. We can do this, and we are doing this. I thank providence every day for just that.

                        Cheers!

I restarted my exercise program a week early, and I can't tell you how much better I feel! I did over-do it somewhat, so I cancelled what I had scheduled for Saturday, and boy was I glad come Sunday. I almost couldn't get out of bed! Everything I did was painful, yesterday. I'm a lot better today, but still sore. I didn't wait for the last week in Nov. because of the postponed nerve block. It was postponed until Nov. 29th and will put me out of action for a few days. Sooo I got a jump on the exercise.

Not so great last week, but I'm expecting to do much better this week. I re-started Slim in 6 last night, have diaried my food so far and I went back to induction, so #4 may not be possible for the next week or two.

I'm feeling better, I felt the ketosis kick in yesterday. Cravings have subsided already, and considering it's TOM, that's really good.

We've got to stay accountable through Christmas, this is a dangerous time of year for carboholics!

Come on and check in, guys! Thanksgiving's over and this is a new week, we'll do better and be fine.

Sorry you're sore, Sunny. Glad you got back on the exercise track. I hope the nerve block goes well.

We do have a lot to be grateful for, Titian. I hope this is a great week for everyone.
