    Hi Cindy,
That's great information. Thank you for sharing it with us. That was my understanding of how harmful Splenda is. Chemicles, that's all it is. Dangerous ones at that! Have you ever sprinkled it on citris as in grapefruit. It sizzles! Pretty scary! Because Stevia is an herb and is classified as a supplement in USA. I'm going to allow it in this challenge. Starting NOW! It's my challenge and I can do what I want here when it comes to changing the rules.
Thanks again for sharing that wonderful information. Hopefully folks will come visit and take the use of Splenda more seriously.
    Talk with you soon.

Teamedup posted this in a thread today.Looks like the dangers of Splenda is finally making it's way to the big headlines I'm all for putting warning lables on Splenda. People need to know of it's potential danger on the human body when consumed.

      Source: Citizens for Health

Chairman of Citizens for Health Declares FDA Should Review Approval of Splenda

New Study of Splenda and Sucralose Reveals Shocking New Information About Potential Harmful Effect on Humans

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 22, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- James Turner, chairman of the national consumer education group Citizens for Health expressed shock and outrage after reading a new report from scientists at Duke University. "The report makes it clear that the artificial sweetener Splenda and its key component sucralose pose a threat to the people who consume the product. Hundreds of consumers have complained to us about side effects from using Splenda and this study, published this past week in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health Part A, confirms that the chemicals in the little yellow package should carry a big red warning label," said Turner.
Among the results in the study by Drs. Mohamed B. Abou-Donia, Eman M. El-Masry, Ali A. Abdel-Rahman, Roger E. McLendon and Susan S. Schiffman is evidence that, in the animals studied, Splenda reduces the amount of good bacteria in the intestines by 50%, increases the pH level in the intestines, contributes to increases in body weight and affects the P-glycoprotein (P-gp) in the body in such a way that crucial health-related drugs could be rejected. Turner noted that the P-gp effect "could result in crucial medications used in chemotherapy for cancer patients, AIDS treatment and drugs for heart conditions being shunted back into the intestines rather than being absorbed by the body as intended."
The study was conducted using male rats over a period of twelve weeks. The manufacturers of Splenda also used a rat study when they applied for and received approval to market the product from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. At the time, the findings from their rat studies were extrapolated as to possible effects on humans. This is standard FDA practice and this study is consistent with that practice.
Turner said, "This report followed accepted policies and procedures and the results make clear the potential for disturbing side effects from the ingestion of Splenda. It is like putting a pesticide in your body. And this is at levels of intake erroneously approved by the Food and Drug Administration. A person eating two slices of cake and drinking two cups of coffee containing Splenda would ingest enough sucralose to affect the P-glycoprotein, while consuming just seven little Splenda packages reduces good bacteria." Although the effect of consuming Splenda does not result from a one time use, the side effects do occur after accumulated use. Turner also noted unmistakable evidence that Splenda is absorbed by fat, contrary to the claims of Johnson & Johnson.
Turner announced, "We are calling today on the FDA to immediately accept our petition filed over a year ago and initiate a review of its approval of sucralose and to require a warning label on Splenda packaging cautioning that people who take medications and/or have gastrointestinal problems avoid using Splenda. The new study makes it clear that Splenda can cause you to gain weight and lose the benefits of medications designed to improve and protect your health. The FDA should not continue to turn a blind eye to this health threat."
Citizens for Health will testify in Sacramento, CA, on October 3, 2008, before the California Assembly Committee on Health which is examining the use of deceptive advertising to promote sales of potentially unhealthy food additives, particularly artificial sweeteners.

        Day 16 No Sweetners
Last night I had a blackberry sundae without sweetners. The rest of the family had blackberry pie alamode. I was out of whipping cream otherwise I would of whipped some up for mine to put on top. It was fine just the same. The berries were sweet enough on their own. I so enjoyed them.

Thank you, Sherri for providing the information, I appreciate it. I don't take some of them like I want to, so I joined the Halloween Challenge to help me take my vitamins daily. I have re-started taking Iron-Free Daily Total One(multivitamin), Alpha Lipoic Acid with Diachrome(same as Chromium Pic), CoQ10, Calcium with Magnesium & Vitamin D, Salmon Oil, Flax Seed Oil, Ester-C(Vitamin C), E-400, Digestive Enzymes, 5-HTP(for sleep), Glucosamin & Chondroitin(1500/750), Yunnan Rheumaherbs(for Rheumatoid Arthritis), Orchard Fruits(Fruit Juice Blend dietary supplement)4 caps/daily, Garden Veggies(Vegetable Juice Blend dietary supplement)6 caps/daily.

Cinnamon, I may add to my "Vitamin Cocktail". lol I tried milk thistle, it gave me hives. Noni Juice, I'm not gung ho on experimenting this because it's very unpleasant getting a rash or hives. I was reading up on Noni Juice, it's not for me. I don't take Pro-Biotic because it'll thin my blood more and my doctor said I consume blood thinner already but I won't stop taking it. Olive leaf extract, I don't want to go through more detoxification. I already have more than regular bowels, sometimes it's diarrhea because of the food/medications that I'm eating/consuming. Thanks.
                          THANK YOU

Okay, looks like you're doing plenty in the supplement area. Ya, when taking cinnamon at 500 mg a day it's been proven to drop glucose levels by 40 point.
My Type-2 Diabetes reversed with 48 days into extended Induction and taking Chromium Pic. I've always taken a pro-biotic, anti-fungul olive leaf extract, omega fish oils, calcium w/ D. A good multi without iron. That's pretty much my regular supplements. I found that if our bodies are depleted from Chromium pic then you can be or become Diabetic.
Best of health and lite to you.

It has sugar in it. It was ok before I joined the challenge here and I didn't even think about it until I was reading about hidden sugar.

Okay...I am here and I MUST admit that I have a terrible "sweet" monster on my shoulder that I am motivated and determined to get rid of. I am tired of failing at this WOE so I have decided the best thing for me to do is to stop fooling myself even with "Atkins Friendly Sweets". I just set myself up for failure and I am sick and tired of it.

Starting tomorrow I will NOT have any food or drink with a "sugar" alternative. I will take this challenge each day and I will report in at the end of each day to show accountability.

Once and for all, I will set myself free!
