  • So annoyed with Tom Cruise

Ok, so I realize this might just get me jumped-lol. How dare I critize the one and only right? I will start by saying that although I never really liked him as anything special I never minded him. I just think he is over rated as an actor. A reviewer summed it up for me. He is always the cocky highschool kid, the cocky vampire, the cocky sports writer, the cocky disfigured man, etc... I have alway preferred Brad's looks and acting ability.

Anway, I am watching AGAIN the famous Oprah interview with him jumping all over the place. I could care less if he is dating a much younger woman but something just feels so fake and false from him through this whole interview. ONly slightly annoying. So a few weeks after this aired the first time he did an interview slamming Brooke Shields (who I also saw on Oprah) for writing her book about Postpartum depression. I was very moved by her interview and was impressed with how open and candid she was. His comments were that she is irresponsible to release this book and to take anti depressants or to tell others that she did that. He said that all women need who suffer from this is Vitamins!!!! He also said that it was these bad choices that explain why her career is in the toliet!!!!

Ya know, we all have our opinions but really who does he think he is. She is not allowed to express her opnions and try to help others but he can spew his religion and opnions everywhere. Not only that but he is a man who adopted both his kids and has no idea what a woman goes through who is suffering from this.

I don't mean to get myself killed here. ONe of my friends already blammed my pregnancy and that when my hormones are back to normal my head will straighten out-lol (she is a tom cruise lova!!). I was just watching the show again, this time more annoyed because of the Brooke Shields comments. I just really don't know who this ARROGANT man thinks he is.

I am having major major issues with him right now. It's more personal with me though, it's about scientology and how he's using his so called "relationship" to promote it. I don't like all the attention Scientology has right now and again, it's personal, my brother has joined this so called "church" and two weeks ago left to go to Clearwater, Fl. Scientology headquarters. He said he'll be gone for at least a year to train to be an auditor. He sold everything he owned, stopped listening to music, and is living at the mission.

I hear all kinds of things about Tom Cruise. I hear that he bought Katie's engagement ring 9 mos. before ever dating her. I hear that he was "wife shopping" before dating Katie and that Katie is being paid 5 million dollars to be married to Tom Cruise for 5 yrs., endorse Scientology, and adopt kids with him. Hard to say how much of this is rumor and how much of this is true, but it all just seems very fishy. Not to mention he runs her life now. Oh, heard today that she's legally changing her name to Kate from Katie. Gee, who keeps calling her Kate lately?

LOL. I don't know about the rest either other than he said himself on Oprah that he had heard about her and wanted to meet her so he called for a meeting. Now, I do not have a problem with the age difference but a 42 year old man hunting down this girl did throw me a little. Also, he was with Mimi Rogers and then did a movie with Nicole Kidman and left Mimi and was with Nicole, then did a movie with Penelope Cruz and left Nicole. Now he gives a ring to this girl he hunted down and met like 3 months ago.

Just curious...in a nutshell, what do the Scientologist believe?

The last time my wife and I were in Los Angeles, we were walking along the 'Walk of Fame' in Hollywood and these people kept trying to give us free tickets to this 'exhibit' which turned out to be an L. Ron Hubbard recruit fest.....fortunately my wife realized who/what it was and got us away from them. It was pretty freaky though....very pushy people!!

My annoyance with him hits close to my heart, and has less to do with his cheesy over the top made for tv enthusiasm, and more to do with serial monogamy. My ex is one of those, and because he ruins one family to move into a "committed relationship"... the fact that it is committed and not tom catting is supposed to make it okay.

His religous beliefs strongly contradict mine, and any Christian "proseltyzing" in the manner that Mr. TC (for tom cat imho) is "sharing his beliefs" would be crucified in the press, ignored and declined coverage.

So my annoyance extends to the media in general and the culture of acceptance and tolerance for everything except Judeo_Christian values, strong traditional morals, and true Christian faith. Everything and anything else is okay... and yes, we all do hve to live here together.... but my faith is the only one that it is wrong to talk about publicly. Not Hip or cool or whatever the word of the moment is enough, I guess.

Argh. I must be grumpy. He, his life, and the medias treatment of it, the absolute gag-order-apparent on the wife and kids he discarded for the girl of the moment and gushing over the new girl of the moment, hurt my heart. I dont read or watch any of it anymore.

          Will shut up now.

Please dont throw things at me.

            Tom Cruise is an ***.

Scientologist believe that if you follow their rules etc then you will be happy. You surrender your free will to whatever they say.
It's a load of crap that preys on the weak minded and disaffected.

Of course you can say the same about any religion but theirs is especially insidious.
But with all the wacky religious stuff out there (Kaballah, LDS, Fundamentalists) who's to say what religion is right or wrong?

Scientology didn't make him an ***. He did that all on his own. Scientology just adds to his assholery.
(BTW Scientology has nothing to do with Science)

              Here's their website http://www.scientology.org/
Btw, I'm a Catholic (keep comments to self please...just trust me on that advice I beg you) and I am NOT endorsing them, just letting people take a look for themselves. I remember visiting a Scientology center as a high schooler on a World Religions field trip. It was the only one that felt less like a religion and more like a "we'll help you if you pay through the nose" kind of place. Like a very expensive and never-ending shrink type place. I truly could care less what celebrities do/say/believe. Their sense of self importance is just so off the chart I can't grasp it. I think in a way, no matter what they believe, a little part of them feels really damn guilty that they live in unbelievable luxury so they make us regular shmoes try to feel guilty along with them. Nuh huh. Any charity I do is from my own heart and because it's what I should do. I've yet to see any modern day celebrity give up everything for the sake of charity. But I'm doing a complete thread drift here...so sorry. I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.....

I say if he bothers you that much why don't you change the channel?

Also if as you say Brooke Shields is entitled to her opinion than so is he.

I said the Oprah thing was only slightly annoying. The difference being that her opinion did not personally insult someone in public. She was trying to help people with her experiences and didn't bring anyone else into it. He isn't talking about his own experience he was insulting someone's morals and carrier based on the fact that her choice of help was against HIS religion.

I just find it kinda silly that everyone is getting so worked up over some celebrity, his "religion" and comments he made. Who cares, we all know that celebrities live in their own little world that has very few similarities with reality. I can't understand wasting a bunch of evergy worrying about what they do or what they have to say. Just my opinion.

I do agree about that. I was only trying to make converstation-lol. I could care less about his religion other than the comments about sick women. I know I have enough sense to say who the **** cares what Tom Cruise thinks but he is a HUGE star and who knows if others will feel shame about this condition. There is already so much shame attached that many women don't get help. I know I only had a small case of the "baby blues" and it was really painful. Nevermind if it was 10 times worse. I just have heard of many a woman who don't get help and end up hurting themselves or the baby.

I just get mostly annoyed with men making these judgments on something they could never understand.

                      Just talkin, no biggie.

I actually only know a little bit about it. I know the basis of it is that people come from aliens somehow. Ron Hubbard was a Sci-fi writer and Scientology is a Sci-fi religion. I know that the goal is to become a "clear", which Tom Cruise is considered to be. You can only become a clear by visiting with an auditor, which is their equivalent to a counselor. My brother is trying to become an auditor right now.

They don't believe in any modern medicine. Physicians, counselors, and stuff are bad. ADD/ADHD doesn't exist and was made up by the medical community to control children. Emotional disorders do not exist and made up to control people (this one hits me presonally because I have depression).

I also know that my brother had to work there EVERYDAY and anytime he was spending time with family, like Thanksgiving, Christmas, my wedding, Mother's Day (yes, even holidays). He had to write a letter saying why he wasn't going to be there and how he was going to make up the time missed before he could miss a day. He signed a contract when he first joined saying how much time he'd spend there everyday and I believe he has to give them money too. Not donate what you have, like Church, but give a certain dollar amount. Could be why he sold almost everything he owned (truck, drums, etc) before leaving for Florida.

I'm not about dissing religions. I had a jewish father and a christian mother, so I've grown up with mixed religion in my life, but these people control EVERY aspect of ones life.

Well Shelby dear..the last sentence in your first post summed it all up.

I just really don't know who this ARROGANT man thinks he is.

MAN is the key word here.

No offense guys and I'm not male bashing. I truly love men, all their faults and their beautiful bodies.

But MOG is right too, they are both entitled to their opinions.

If it was a real religion he'd have compassion instead of smug self-righteousness.

Hey can we bash one guy and not drag all men into this??
