Anyone looking forward to the release of the next book? I definitley am! I am going to dress up as my character and go to the midnight release of the book at the nearest Border book store to my house! I am so excited, I can't wait! I hope it's as good as all the other books that I have read in her series. Reading Harry Potter gives me inspiration to actually write something for a change.

Re: Harry Potter! YAY!
Me! Me! I'm excited! Last time my husband and I pre-ordered 2 books so we wouldn't have to share. lol. Is it too late to pre-order? I sure hope not. I'll try that today. I don't do well with crowds. I'm re-reading the series right now, I don't know why...I know them all by heart.

I reserved my copy at Borders about 3 months ago. I haven't decided if I will wait for it on Friday night or pick it up Saturday morning.~Megs~

Count me in! I preordered months ago! Last time, when the book was delivered, I literally dropped everything and read it through. I expect to do the same this time! Gee -- I hope I don't have to take a day off from work to finish it!277/180/160ish -- started 7/28/03 --F

Re: Harry Potter! YAY!
My German penfriend is coming over to stay for the first time on Friday - we've both pre-ordered and they should land the day after she arrives. We've already worked out that if we talk ALL Friday night, we can just read for the rest of her visit!

Re: Harry Potter! YAY!
Coolbeans. I started rereading the books last night. It's so much fun to actually have something so cool to look forward to. I know that several people don't like Harry Potter, but that's probably because they hate reading. I preordered mine 6 months ago, so I get it for really cheap. I can't believe it's been that long since I preordered it. I should finish Harry Potter 1 tonight and head off to HP2 tomorrow and so on and so forth. I'll have to skim read it if I have to...lol

I love Harry Potter (and I'm in my 30s!). It's a "children's" book with adult themes--like all the really great children's books (Tom Sawyer, The Black Arrow, Treasure Island, etc.) were.~Megs~

Re: Harry Potter! YAY!
I read the first couple of them. Only cause I was laid up w/ a broken ankle/leg and my little neices and nephews lent me theirs to read. They're not bad, but after 2 I just couldn't get into the third one. IMO its a little worn out, but good for kids I reckon.

Re: Harry Potter! YAY!
The third book, Prisoner of Azkaban, was the best in the series so far, imo.
I never got into LoTR. In fact, I could never get through the first page of The Hobbit, because it bored me silly.~Megs~

Re: Harry Potter! YAY!
I've gone through 1/2 of Fellowship of the Ring, my husband has read the entire series and re-reads them every now and then. Also the Dune series which I suppose if I gave it a chance I would probably really like. I'm re-reading Prisoner of Azkaban right now. I still haven't ordered the new Harry Potter book, I hope I'm not too late. Our local Target says they're going to have them but I'm not taking that chance. Lol.
ETA~Just pre-ordered! Wasn't too late thank goodness...but today was the last day...cut that a bit close. whew!"Only request in my behalf both inward and outward strength...that I may not merely be called a Christian, but really be found to be one." -- St. Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to the Romans

Re: Harry Potter! YAY!
Oh beleive me I have. The first time I ever tried reading The Hobbit was when I was in 4th or 5th grade. I couldn't get through the first page. The second time I tried reading it was in 10th grade for a book report. I couldn't get through the first page again, and I switched to Great Expectations. The third time was in college for fun. Never got past it. The last time I tried reading The Hobbit was about 3 years ago---same thing couldn't get past the first page. I suppose it's Tolkien's writing style because I find it so heavy-handed and it tries too hard to be charming. Anyhow, some books click for me and others don't, like The DaVinci Code....that book was a great "snooze" book because I'd only have to read a paragraph and it would knock me out for a couple of hours. lol.Originally posted by MotherOfGizmoI would think if you never read past the 1st page you didn't seriously give it a chance!~Megs~
