Re: Do you have any stories of paranormal experiences?
All these are really great interesting stories. Okay, so I have a few of my own. Don't burn me at the stake...yet. lol.
My mom got remarried when I was 6 to a man who had 2 boys of his own and lived in a house that looked like the exact replica of the Amityville horror house. Like all old houses, this one had character. But the "character" of this house is the documentation on file down at the county taxes office of this house losing its 3 main occupants: husband killed in a farming accident on the property in the back forty, wife goes crazy and kills son then decides to kill herself. Okay, so there's the background. We move in with our new family. The little boy would show himself to my mom and follow me around the house. I had nightmares for years until we moved out of the house. Didn't help much that my mom was deep into Halloween and had the biggest parties on earth at our house, compete with its own ghost. How about that?
When I was a senior in high school I did that ojuijey (whatever) board with my mom, and her two friends in a house of one of the friends who though it was haunted. We sat down and let the board take over. I ask the question, "Who can help you?" and whatever it was spelled out "G-O-D". The board went flying off the table. Me and mom looked at eachother in freaked out manner. Come to find out from the lady a little girl had died in the house mysteriously.
Before I graduated from highschool my best friend and I went to her mom's friend/psychic. and she said I had a loving orar(I still can't spell) and I was from the Tribe of Dan from the 12 tribes in the bible. Okay, so that was kind of cute. Then she said I would marry before I turned 20 to a man with the named "M". I married Mr. M a few months after I turned 20. Go figure, she guessed right.
My MIL passed away 6 months before Sarah was born. She knew I was pregnant before she died and said we would have a girl. Yep, Grandma's intuition kicked in. But that's not the biggy. Sarah was born with a blocked kidney and needed surgery. We moved in with my FIL to save on money. Sarah had dh's old bedroom and she would sleep really good at night. But the closer it got to the surgery date, dh and I would wake up in the middle of the night to Sarah 'talking" to someone....this was like a little babble, but giggle too. I should mention dh's mom passed away in the same house...I was the only one there the moment she passed away. We didn't think anything of it until one night after her surgery. I got up out of habit to check on Sarah and the her rocking chair was swaying to a soft lull. I actually cried because I so missed my MIL and said out loud, "Thank you." To this day dh and I believe Mary has been around the girls everytime they've been sick or in the hospital.
Okay, so that's a few of mine..I have more, but then I think someone would consider me a crazy lady. lol. And I still have sanity with in me! Woo hooo!

Wow, great contribution Lisa...the stories about Amityville horror-ish house you lived in are scary!
Thanks. But the really scarry part of it all, is when I saw the movie in my teen years I was really freaked out because we still had pictures of the house we lived in and just "wonderful" memories! lol!
Re: Do you have any stories of paranormal experiences?
When I was in elementary school I had a tv stand in my room that was L shaped and under where the tv was supposed to sit was rolltop(like a desk) well, it was kinda hard to move up and down. I went to bed one night and before I fell asleep I heard something looked up and the rolltop part was going up and down, Well... I thought nothing of it went over (I thought one of our cats was stuck in it- stupid me, a cat couldn't have moved it easily-duh) opened it up and nothing was there.... I freaked out jumped back in my bed and prayed and prayed and prayed I would never see anything like it again. I bet I prayed that every night for a couple of years!!! lol I think whatever it was knew it had scared me and never bothered me again. Crazy!
Also shortly after my Great grandfather died I was driving in my car, felt a bit "weird" and my door locks were opening and closing over and over. It didnt quite scare me I think it was him just letting me know he was around
Re: Do you have any stories of paranormal experiences?
ok guys I'm alittle freaked out at this point about digital cameras and the spots of light that just sometimes show up...right?
So last Saturday was my parents 50th wedding anniversary party. I took a ton of inside pictures and guess what? There are some pictures with those very same little spots of light.
If its true and I believe it is(I hope I don't sound like a lunatic), but maybe our crossed over loved ones were there with all the family as well...just musings of a believer.

Re: Do you have any stories of paranormal experiences?
I just remembered another one that I'd forgotten. When we lived in Hawaii (in the Military) there was something that happened in my neighborhood that I was told about when I moved in. The neighbors got together every summer and had a big neighborhood barbecue. Our first year there, they were telling us about previous barbecues they had had with occupants that were now stateside.
It seems there was this young couple who lived there. The young lady was pregnant and during the barbecue one of the neighbors was snapping pictures. A few months later when the girl gave birth, the baby didn't make it. They said the whole neighborhood was devastated. The young couple moved back to the states to be near family. (hardship move). The neighbors didn't get the film developed until several months later. When they did, the photo showed the young couple and an image of a baby floating over their heads. They showed it to me. It was like a cloud shaped like a baby. Creepy looking.

Re: Do you have any stories of paranormal experiences?
Ok, I'll confess. This one happened during Boot Camp. Does anyone remember the weekend I went to stay at my parents? It was because I was so darned freaked out about something that happened at the house. I was standing in the kitchen making deviled eggs (no lie). The TV was on and the dog was laying on the deck at the back door. I was home alone. I heard this noise that sounded like someone breathing really hard, an angry deep breath (if that makes sense). I looked at the TV to see if it was coming from there, but a car commercial was on. I dismissed it. I guess that really ticked off whatever it was. Because it did it a second time only this time it sounded as if it was standing over my right shoulder and it sounded even more angry than the first time. I wheeled around and saw nothing. I screamed at the top of my lungs, "GET OUT OF MY HOUSE NOW." I then ran to the bedroom to get the gun. (What was I going to do...shoot the ghost?) I have not heard it again sense. But the really odd thing about that day is that the moment I pulled in the driveway, I thought about my neighbor across the street that killed himself a couple of years before. I never think about him, didn't really know him. I thought then, "Why am I thinking about him?" Then that happens, which makes me wonder was that him still walking around the neighborhood. Freaky huh??

Spooky, but not scary- When Dh & I moved into the yellow house, all of the previous owners stuff was still in there. Jon was 100 years old when he moved out of the house and in with a family friend (he had no family). His wife, Jenny, had died 25 years previously in the house - a wiring issue - the house smoldered and Jenny died of smoke inhalation. When we moved in, I had to pack all of their belongings, but I had an odd feeling while I was in the house - like I wasn't the only one there. As I started to pack Jenny's things, the feeling got stronger and stronger. I felt like a total goober, but I spun around and said outloud, "You know, Jenny - this was your house for a long, long time and I'm not about to ask you to leave it. I'm going to ask that we co-exist here in peace. I have children and I don't want them scared. I'd like to leave a couple of your things here so you're more comfortable." I kept a swan dish and a glass do-dad out as knick-knacks up on the shelf, and I never felt mennaced by the presence again - but there were several times I'd walk through the hallway and smell pipe tobacco. It was a pleasant smell, and when I smelled it, I'd just pause and say hello and it would go away.
Before that - when I met dh he owned a condo. The condo used to be an apartment building for seniors only before they upgraded and sold them. The whole building was haunted - honestly. There were several incidents while I lived there with dh. Briefly:
Anytime I was in the house alone, the hair on the back of my neck would stand up on end. You know that feeling like someone is behind you and watching you - and they're not thinking nice thoughts? That's the kind of skin-crawling, hair-raising feeling I'd get. It took me about a month to figure out that everytime it happened I'd find myself turning and looking in the EXACT same spot in the house. Every single time. It honestly scared the you-know-what out of me. Dh thought I was a nut.
Oddly though, dh's mom brought him to a psychic (dh *was* a total non-believer, but his mom is a psychic junkie and he went with her. LOL). The psychic told dh that he had two spirit "guides", and one of them was a ranch-hand- but that this guide seemed to be more tied to where dh lived than dh. She also told dh to be careful because this particular guide didn't like women and would make any woman in his house very uncomfortable.
Yeah. No .
I had a habit of taking a shower and then getting dressed in the dining room. (Don't ask. LOL) The condo's patio door faced the parking lot, so my habit was to close the drapes and turn on the lights, then go shower. Countless times I'd go shower, come out and the drapes would be open and all the lights would be off. Wha???
I'm very much a creature of habit. Things go where they go. I'd go look for something that belonged to me and it would be no where to be found. I was cleaning out the closet in the hallway next to the bathroom and I found a bunch of my stuff stashed on the very top shelf, all very ordered, lined up and neat - and under some sheets. My razor, my hair scissors, various barettes, etc. Wha???
I worked as a bartender/cocktail waitress during this time, so I'd get off work at 1am and home by 1:30. I parked in the front and I could see our place as I walked up to the building. As I'm walking up, I look up and see the bedroom window blinds part, so I wave to dh and go on in. I hurried upstairs because I had to go potty REALLY bad, so I hit the door (unlocked), dropped my coat and purse on the hallway floor and RAN for the bathroom (cursed weak bladder! LOL). As I'm going, I'm talking to dh .."WHEW! I wasn't sure I was going to make it! It's been a long night, and I didn't think I was ever going to get out of there..." blah blah blah. I come out of the bathroom and NO ONE is home. No one - but I *saw* the blinds part and I *felt* like I wasn't the only one in the house. I got really mad at first because I thought dh was screwing with me and was trying to scare me. I carefully looked through the house - no one there - and it scared me so bad I sat in the hallway. About 20 minutes later dh showed up. Wha????
During that time my son starting having night terrors - and he didn't have to be asleep to have them. Aaron would come screaming out of the room and tell me & dh that the "hairy little monkey men were poking [me] and hissing and chasing [me]". Odd- was never sure what to make of it, but it stopped when we moved out.
The cincher? Dh & I went out one night, came home and went downstairs and picked Aaron up from the babysitters. It's 2am, I'm holding this sleeping kid and dh opens the door and we start to walk in. The man stopped dead in his tracks and I saw the goosebumps all over him. He stuck his hand out behind him and told me, "Stay RIGHT HERE. Don't move." I, of course, froze. Dh was scared and that's just unlike him. All the lights in the house were on. He ventured real carefully through the hallway and I heard him gasp, so dummy me, I walk around the corner instead of staying put. LOL He pointed into the living room and as bright as could be -the light in the corner was on full blast (one of those hallogen lights). It wouldn't have been so creepy except that the bulb had been burnt out for at least a couple of months. Dh walked up to the light and when he reached out to touch it, POOF! Loud pop and out it goes. We both sort of chuckled and I told him I was going to go lay Aaron down. I walked into the bedroom and froze in my tracks. On our bed was every stuffed devil in the house (dh collected tazmanian devils) - all of them lined up very neatly and facing the bedroom door. I screetched, dh came running and the hair on the back of both of our necks stood straight up. He told me then, "Okay. You win. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong here." - by the way, dh kept the devils up on top of the fireplace mantal and on the top curtain rod in the living room and dining room.
We moved 2 weeks later. LOL Screw that.
Dh's sister bought a condo downstairs from dh and when her and her dh would fight pictures would literally fall off the walls and things on tables would shake. We saw it for ourselves. People all over the building reported freaky stuff like that.
The value of that condo skyrocketed over the next 5 years and I have to be honest when I say I don't care. I'm glad we got out when we did because I honestly NEVER felt safe in that place. It was just WEIRD.
I swear, I'm not one prone to hysterics nor have I ever been a big believer in this sort of stuff - but I'm here to tell you - there are some things that just don't feel right and can't be explained. That condo was one of them. ICK.
