    Re: Gift ideas for husbands

How about lessons in something he might like? Like a day-long fishing trip that's guided? A year-long subscription to Netflix (if he's a movie buff) or a Gift of the Month Club?

If he already likes to drive fast he'd have a hootfest driving racecar school for a day!

Oh...he does love to fish. That's a good idea.

He would love the racecar driving thing but do I want to encourage this bad habit?

Is Netflix only in the US? How does that work?

Netflix might only be US. Is there a movie-by-mail place in Canada?

I'd do the guided fishing trip! There are also guided hunting trips. And the Race car driving isn't a bad thing. It gives a guy a chance to break the laws of speed in a really really fast car for one day. It's essentially a guided thing. They learn, drive a few laps, have an exhilarating experience for a day with their clothes on.

        There's also skydiving...

            Re: Gift ideas for husbands

This year I got my Christmas bonus in November and we decided on an amount we'd spend for each other for Christmas and then decided we'd pick what we wanted and just order it ourselves...(like giving cash to each other).

Otherwise, we started a "Wish List" when we first got married that we both keep on our computers and as we run across things we like, we add it to our list (description & web link). That way when Valentine's Day, Anniversary, Birthdays, Christmas, etc. comes up we can go to each other's list and pick out something we want and get it as a surprise. That way we both get what we really want.

This year he bought a knife (for when we hike), some type of "special" axe (also for camping & chopping), a flint thing for the knife to start fires and he also likes the "Backwoods Home" magazine.

Anyway, those are the things he picked for himself this year so far.

Then, there are always gift certificates to his favorite store -- like Bass Pro Shop.

            Ho! Ho! Ho!

How bout some Sens tickets (if you can get any)...I did that for my hubby one year (leafs of course). Last year I took him to an Oldtimers game..he LOVED it! And we got amazing seats. This year i'm getting mine a new acoustic guitar. Other than that I get him boring stuff, so far I've got him a couple of turtlenecks..socks, toolbag (he's sooo not handy, but thinks he is).

I think Bass pro shops a great idea too if he likes to fish. Do you have one in Ottawa? I bet you'd find something there.

Since he likes fast cars, maybe an accessory for his car? Satellite radio is coming to Canada, would he be interested in that? Clothes are good if he normally wouldn't buy them for himself. If he likes sweaters, a nice cashmere sweater. Or a nice pair of gloves/hat/new coat. I know it gets coooooooold in Cana-duh. My hubby and I don't exchange gifts, so I'm making these up as I go along. lol

OK, I have to admit that I am a dork, I came home and was telling John about this when I realized that I was talking about the wrong show ( see how much tv I watch LOL) it was not Raymond, it was "King of Queens"

...anyway, the wife took pole dancing lessons and the husband thought it would be very sexy and it turned him on so,he installed a "pole" in their bedroom, well even though she tried really hard and dressed up and played it to the hilt, she really really sucked at pole dancing, he had to pretend like it was a big turn on,and after a week or two he finally had to tell her that she sucked at it and had to demonstrate how it should be done...he is a a loveable "UPS" type delivery guy, with a big beer belly etc. and he actually was a better pole dancer than her...( guess from watching in the bars, than his wife was) anyway, It was hysterical watching a beer belly " mans man" pole dancing and looking sexier than his wife, especially since she is "svelte" and sexy already, she just has no rythym! LOL

You probably "had to be there" but when you suggested that as a present, I just imagined Wannabe pole dancing like her!

                                No he doesn't hunt...just fishing.

He gets invited out to hockey games all the time so it wouldn't be that special.

Ok, so I walk into a fishing store and then what? I know nothing about fishing. I don't know what he already has, what he needs....nothing!

Yeah, pole dancing....that'll be the day. And what are you implying MOG? Eh?

Satellite radio? And how is that different from regular radio? You don't exchange gifts? Now there's an excellent idea.
