    Re: Gift ideas for husbands

I don't know what XM radio is, but that reminds me...

We have a police scanner we got a couple of years ago....it is a blast to turn it on and listen to some of the crazy calls the poor police have to deal with, it picks up EMT's and Ambulances and the occassional baby monitor (yep LOL) and cordless phone conversations as well. Last year I got John an antena to mount on top of the house for it, now we pick up the airport air traffic controllers as well as other counties police and emergency calls!

*note to self..watch what you say on the cordless *

XM is the satellite radion we were talking about earlier..there's a link to the info in one of my posts. since we had this chat i'm considering it for johnnie..though he's not terribly technical (barely out of 8-tracks lol) so i'll have to see how user friendly of a reciever i can get.

I did make a care package of SW merchandise that I gave him when he got back from deployment. Having to wait soooo long to discuss it with him was a killer.

Yes...I'm a dorkus geekus maximus. And proud of it.
Hee hee.. no offense meant softnred! That's great that you guys share that hobby together. I like Star Wars movies well enough I guess, I just don't have a 50 piece collection of Boba Fett figurines 'n statues like he does. I still have to kid him about the geeky factor, he takes it pretty well actually. I think he's on a mission to convert me - I must admit he's gotten me to like Lord of the Rings movies a lot. Maybe it's just Viggo Mortensen though...... HELLO!

I'm one of THOSE people as well. In the early 90's I was one of the leaders of a local Star Trek club and we used to help run the local conventions. I have a photo of the group with us dressed in our Star Trek uniforms...me included.

The amazing thing is that I'm NOT into Sci Fi or Fantasy. Well, except for Star Wars and Star Trek and Harry Potter. But other than that I don't like the genre. heehee
