        PETA loves me.

Especially when I tell them that if they don't go away I'll eat them and wear their hides for shoes.

        Again.

Here is me playing admin and bring this thing to a close. Not that I don't like members discussing the minutae of the board to the nth degree, but until I get something actionable. It is just beating that proverbial dead horse.

Work up a proposal for how you want rep points to handled. Code changes or wording changes are not on the table right now. If you want them changed to be able to rep the same person over and over again, say that. If you want the system shut off, say that. If you hate the idea, that longevity right now gives you one rep point per year, say that. I will take the clear specific proposals, and make a poll on it.

That said here is the specifics about the reputation points as implemented currently:
          Last 10 Reputations are displayed.
Standard members can view who sent them the reputations.
For every 250 posts, the user gains one reputation power.
For every 365 days of membership, the user gains one reputation power.
Max allowable given reputations per day - 20
Number of reputations given before you can rep the same person again - 20
Default Reputation Power given to new users - 10
Number of posts required before given reputations count - 25
Minimum amount of reputation power before given reps count - 10

This negativity without recourse/action has to stop. It is distracting from the true purpose of this board. Let the admins know how to fix it, and if enough people agree with your suggestion, it will be changed. One thing that cannot be changed is to make everyone agree with your decision or use the board exactly as you wish it to be used, so if the suggestion is to not allow anybody use rep as pm substitutes, make the specific change suggestion on how to fix it.

Clarification: send your suggestions to me in a pm or as a reply.

well Kent and I realize you are a new admin

Mog ask for the rules back in post 52 on the 9th and never got any responce until yesterday about any way it was set up and and there are months old topics about it on the vol board that never got the answer. finally today a full explaination of how much garbage rep you got to give before you can give a serious one again to somebody you already repped for a good post plus how many we can give a day so it took beating a dead horse as you said to get a response from some one in charge. this has been discuseed on the vol board, suggesdtions were made but no feed back from Admins was made if it takes taking stuff out in public to get a reply from Admins about it then so be it.

Since you can alter the titles of members and Jackie was talking about altering code to change something else when bugs were being worked out can y'all alter the the window that opens to say something other then what do you think of ____________'s post and just say send a nice message to _______________
of course then you have negated the rewards for being a supporting member with the bigger PM box so that has to be considered too.

"Of course, this is a small and short-term piece of work. The body is remarkably adaptive and what we don't know is whether our hearts would have gradually returned to normal had we stuck to the diet long-term."
                  i thinkthat says it all.

And from a science point of view their sample size is way to small at 19 to be anything other then a blib. it is interesting with all the monitoring going on on the Duke study none of this was detected with all the med tests they ran on them, nor any of the other studies.

the stiffening was interesting as those with the most common form of heart failure have flabby hearts so they might have stumbled onto a treatment for them.

Ok first my apologies that I don't read every post especially in these long posts. I also can't address anything done in the past, but if there is something that bears my or Bren's attention, make sure one of us know about it (aka send a pm). I try to respond to all pm's or at least act on them.

I believe a response was made in the volunteer forum at least by me the last time this issue about reps and thanks were raised. I responded there were more pressing issues at the moment the 3.5 upgrade for the board, and that we were putting major changes on hold. I am reiterating that again now. Major changes like code changes, not switch changes like the ability to see who sent the rep, are not being entertained now. They will complicate the upgrade process. Until then, I am open to discussion about what all users agree upon should be implemented for reputations.

Keep chat and other 'meaningless' chatter posts out of total post count since total post count is used in the calculation of the reputation field (thanks for the link, 2big). This would reward people for actually helping people with their weight loss struggles.
Hiya cdfhstar7...what are you considering meaningless chatter? Support is offered in many different ways...not just in the "can I eat this on Induction question" It's called Pay it Forward...it feels good, everyone should try it!

Kent you weren't an admin when the only old topic on the vol board dealing with reps was discussed and admins did post in it just didn't give the info out as to the numbers. As I said you were the first to actually speel out how the reps worked. the new one is asking folk to go forth and rep and was after this one.

Since nothing dealling with any code changes is open then are you saying the changes are on/off of the sender option, on/off of the whole thing, and/or changes the numbers needed to score points?
