    Re: Hey East Coasters

Here we just have ice (hard frost).

I wish we could pull a little snow down this way...I'm south of Nashville (about an hour).

If you get too much snow, you know where you can send it.

LOL...we got about 5 - 6 inches in Spotsylvania County. When I left for work this morning...the boys were shoveling the decks and sidewalks off and Cookie, my Choc Lab was bounding up and down and all around with dog glee! LOL

It was a beautiful snowy morning.

The roads weren't bad and neither was my driveway, though I ended up shovelling the snow I pushed onto it from my car.

Looks like the stuff will thaw then freeze up tonight....which means I might not be able to do my morning walk outdoors tomorrow.

We only got approx. 4-5 inches. My husband is still at work (he hasn't been home since he left for work yesterday morning. A couple of guys came by asked if I wanted any shoveling done. I said YES. They probably thought I was a Pain in the Neck, because, first I asked them to do one side of the driveway (where my husband would be parking and it's a pretty long driveway) and also the sidewalk leading to the house and the steps. Then, I asked them to please shovel the other side of the driveway. Then I asked them to please shovel in front of the mailbox (which is by the road and the mail won't be delivered if it's blocked) as well as a path to the garbage can.

They initially were going to charge me $20.00 but I volunteered to give them $60.00.

Ah, shoveling snow. Here in the South we don't shovel snow, we just wait for it to melt!

I remember when my parents, brother and I went to Williamsburg, VA, back in 1964 (when I was 10 years old). My brother and I were talking to this 16 year old girl from Florida and she said that she never had seen snow.

                  I'll stop rambling for now...........

When I lived in Hawaii I met tons of people who have never seen snow! We get snow here, usually at least a couple of times a year but normall only a few inches and it melts w/i a day or two. I think it was 3 years or so ago we had 18 inches and it shut the town down. Usually we get freezing rain and sleet which is worse because there is no way you can walk or drive on it and it always takes down trees and electrical wires! Its a huge mess!

MOG when I lived in Fort Bragg as a young innocent girl, I distinctly remember ICE Storms. The ice would cover the magnolia tree leaves and I would pick the leaves take the leaf out of the ice and eat the ice...LOL...

But ice sledding..now that was DA BOMB.

I love snow too. They (weather people) are saying that we could get a decent amount from this go 'round tomorrow night. Of course they put in the disclaimer "we don't really know how it is tracking, we could get something, we may not get anything". We didn't get anything but a few flurries from the last storm. It didn't even coat the grass. We joke around here that we live in a "dome". The storms seem to miss us a lot of the times.
