Your worst Christmas Presents??

Everyone has got a bad present at some time in their life..what was yours?

Last year my MIL bought us a 7' tall white wrought iron bird cage . it takes up an entire corner of my living room, and of course i can't get rid of it..she comes over all the time....you should have seen my husbands face when she gave it to us. I HATE the thing... it's not really ugly..just really not my taste at all.

When I was 19, my boyfriend at the time bought me an iron for xmas. Who buys a 19 yr old girl an iron???


I'd have to say those are my two worst...

I can't think of a worst. We draw names for Christmas, I would say that anytime my Sister in Law gets my name it is the worst. One year she bought me an outfit that was 3 sizes too small...she bought it in July at an outlet mall so of course by December it was too late to be able to return or exchange it.

My mom gave me a sandwhich maker last year. Hello?! Perhaps you remember me? You know...I'm the daughter that LOW CARBS. Sheesh.

Then there's the loooovely red terry cloth jammies with a giant picture of Eeyore on the front. Of course they're "irregular", so the seams are crooked to the point of the pant legs on them actually semi-twisting around the thigh and they're about 1 1/2 inches too short. My inseam is only 30 inches for pete's sake. When I whip those bad boys out, I always round the corner, spin in a little circle and say to dh, "Stand back. Sexy beast in da howwwwwwse!" heh heh

The worst though has to be this bottle of "perfume" (and I use the word "perfume loosely here) that my MIL gave me. The stuff was so horrific I knew it was a bottle of nasty stuff before I even opened up the gift because you could smell it through the gift wrap, box, AND plastic wrap (???) it was packaged in. The bonus was that she gave her daughter (SIL) the same bottle of perfume. At the end of the night when we had gathered all the gifts and whatnot by the door to go home, I slipped my box into SIL's stuff. heh heh heh She got all the way home before she figured out it was in there.

She got me back though. She gave both boxes to me 4 months later - for my BIRTHDAY! ARGH!! She said she had to store the boxes in the garage. ROFL!!!!

My ex-husband's family were the WORST gift-givers! They lived far away so the rest of the family could get together, open gifts, and roll our eyes collectively.
One year, they gave my ex a poster...it was a dead turkey with a cigarette in it's mouth and it said "Only turkeys smoke" or something like that. My ex has never smoked a single cigarette in his life..so why this rated as a gift to him...??
Another year they sent us this envelope with these heavy metal coins in it and we got pretty excited. They turned out to be tokens for video rentals (back in the day when this was a fairly new thing) The thing was we didn't have a video machine AND there wasn't one of those video places in our city...gee...thoughtful gift.
We think that he probably brought a lot of crap home from where he worked (he worked for the government) and then they would sort through it at Christmas time and pass it all out as gifts.

Do you have a boondoggle keychain

k, so this year I got a copy of Bill Engvall's "Here's your sign" (the book). That's not horrible, and honestly I think it was a mix-up and my cousin was supposed to get it. But my BF got something that is pretty funny. You have to have seen Napoleon Dynamite to get this, but my uncle made him a boondoggle keychain. That's right ladies, my BF has his very own beaded keychain, it's even personalized. BTW, if you didn't guess this already, it is completely not his style. Nothing about it is. Not the plastic beads, thick leather strap, or the fact that it has his name on it. Oh, and the thing is like 8 inches long, it's huge! Fortunately, that family lives far away and his not using it is not an issue at all.

the worse for me was a makeup kit and a leather purse I got from my floormates. I have never carried a purse that is what pockets are for nor worn makeup. My roommate loved it though and got a lot of use out of both. Makes me wonder to this day if she had alterior motives when she told them what I needed.

Christmas gifts always seem so very easy to buy, but it amazes me how people mess them up. I think the worst one simply because of who it came from was from my own Mother. I love to write letters so she bought me personalized stationery with my name on it. The catch is that she misspelled her own daughter's name. Yep! It was Debra instead of the correct Deborah. Makes me wonder whose kid I really am sometimes.

I used to hate it when people got me clothes. They meant well, but they'd get me floral or striped tent shirts in XXXL sizes or they'd get me the XL and it would be too small. I used to always want lotions and soaps, but never got them. Now, it seems I have a whole closet full of lotions, candles and soaps...as that is all I ever get. But, I love them!

My DIL bought me a virgin mary lamp. You poured oil in it and it dripped the oil into a pan at the bottom. It was supposed to pump the oil back up but just leaked all over the place. Not to mention in (my) faith I do not worship mary. Funny because we are of the same faith. I guess it offened me because I took the gift to look thoughtful but DH and I agreed it was to be mean. It had a little accident when we moved.

I have the opposite problem. People buy me lotion and soap all the time because they are afraid to try to buy me clothes. Finally, last Christmas after I opened the THIRD set of lotion at one gathering, I said "wow, I must really stink to get all this". The said is as a joke and laughed, but since last Christmas no one has bought me lotion. Instead, I got a gift card for a manicure and pedicure, OPI nail polish, some nice gloves and a scarf so far.
