Poor Pedro! I can't believe how mean some people can be, its sickening. If I could I'd adopt all the doggies in the shelter! Of course, then I'd be homeless so its a mute point.

I know what you mean. I can't even go to the shelters anymore because I just end up breaking down crying, and I want to bring all those poor dogs home with me.

Anyway, Pedro is better now. We've had him since last May. He used to get scared and tremor and shake at the slightest noise. One time my hubby pulled out his tripod because he wanted to try to take a "family" picture with us and Pedro, but Pedro took one look at the tripod and started crying and hid under the bed. He's changed so much since we've gotten him. He didn't know how to play when we got him, but now he fetches, and plays with toys, and even wrestles with my hubby when he's feeling really fiesty. He doesn't have accidents anymore either. yay!

        You're gonna make me cry!

My brother had a doberman pinscer (is that how you spell it?) that just showed up at his home (he lives way out in the country) one day, it was like that, if you picked up anything long like a rake or a hose he would tear outta there and not come back for 45 minutes to an hour, he had obviously been hit with something and was ver skittish. He ended up staying with my brother and was the sweetest dog but never got over the skittishness about things like that. I loved that dog!

My cat was feral, I think that's why she pees (but she usually only does it when I've been gone for several days) and she hasn't done it in probably 4 months, I think I'll check into the Mohawk stuff, anything that works!!!

My other sweet cat does not pee on anything but his litter! He's an absolute doll!

My friend suggested a pet stain remover from Mohawk. Call around to a few carpet stores, and ask them if they carry, or if they will order the Mohawk pet stain remover in the orange bottle. This stuff works like a charm. It removes every trace of urine, and didn't destroy my upholstery. My couch looks like the day I bought it. I tried calling several upholstery/carpet cleaners, and no one would touch it. Thank god for this stuff from Mohawk.
Dog pee and cat pee don't compare...Cat pee has to be one of the worst smells in the world, and nearly impossible to get rid of. I had a roommate who's cat, Boo, was femal and not fixed, when she was in heat she would pee (small amounts) on everything! I threw out a couch because I couldn't get teh smell out, and i tried everything but it had got right in the foam of the cushions.

I actually caught her peeing on my kitchen counter one day . I was so mad i flung her outside on the verandah, she hated going outside, and used to just sit on the porch. Well of course that day she didn't...she took off and we never saw her again . I felt so horrible...though if my roommate could have just spent $100 fixing her cat rather than in bars every night..we wouldn't have had an issue. LOL.

I'm a huge animal lover and i still feel so bad I did that..

Boy did this ever get o/t quick.

As for gadgets, I bought some stupid Starfrit vegetable slicer that cuts things into strips, slices etc. . i've never used it...a knife is easier, and easier to clean.

about half the stuff i've gotten from pampered chef, most of it only works with one type of food
I agree. Pampered Chef is overpriced, and usually only works with whatever they have demonstrated it on - and rarely anything else. I try to avoid those parties like a plague -otherwise I have a bunch of items taking space in the drawer, cupboard, etc.

Have an apple peeler/corer - it's just too much effort and mess - and my hubby even made me a stand for it, similar to the one they were selling for an outrageous amount. But am I going to get it out for one apple? I'm not making pies or anything else, and if I'm going to eat an apple, I'm going to be eating the peel, anyway - that's where all the fibre is, anyway.

I hate having to keep things for sentimentality. Why do we feel so guilty about giving them away to the Salvation Army or somewhere where someone else may be able to use them, just because a friend/relative/vague acquaintance gave them to us?

Have a juicer/blender in the cupboard. Used to have a different juicer years ago (Braun, I believe). It was the messiest thing around. You had to put so much into it just to get anything out, and all the pulp, etc., gathered around this honeycomb mesh, and had to be cleaned out - which was a mess. I blessed my mother with that before we moved away from her area. The new worked better, but I'm not into juicing. My hubby is the small appliance king. Sometimes it drives me crazy. He's getting better, but we have things that we've perhaps only used once or twice.

A rolling pin! In 28 years of marriage, I have *never* used it. WHY IS IT STILL IN THE DRAWER?

Put it on the floor in front of you when watching t.v. Put your feet on it and roll them back and forth. See? That's not a rolling pin! It's a foot massager!

Or you can keep it by your bedstand, use it as a weapon if god forbid you ever have an intruder in your home!

I gave all the useless gadgets that I wasn't using and put them in boxes in the basement, took some to my daughter who moved away to University in another city, and recently took the rest of the stuff (most of it being new) to DH's son who just bought his own home! He was thrilled, when he opened up the box of goodies!!! Made us feel real good too!
