Re: On the flip: Really bad movies you've seen lately?

I don't like Dr. Zhivago (the David McLean version) because it's too, too sappy from my taste. PLUS they over-used the theme throughout the entire movie. I mean, Yuri leaves the room (cue theme music). Lara looks worried (cue theme music). Shot of the Russian country side (cue theme music). I didn't like the remake of it either.

I should have included "2001: A Space Oddessy" on my don't like list too. A few years ago, I did watch it all the way through, but that was only with the help of 4 vodka limes (though by the 3rd vodka lime, I must admit the movie became more enjoyable).

      "Head"

The movie that the Monkees made right after they left their TV series.

Parts of it were ok, but most of it was contrived

Still, looking at a young Davy Jones for 94 minutes was not painful.

I was not picking on you, I was just curious.
I hate HATE Life of Brian and Dr Zhivago too...most ppl have problems understand it it...

can I ask what are you favorite movies??
( maybe you have posted it already...going to check)

This is so funny... I also HATED Clockwork Orange, finding it to be just too MUCH, if that makes sense... full of itself, I would say... My HS friends watched it pretty constantly, at least once a week..

I LOVED Life of Brian, and it's not one of my faves, but enjoyed Dr. Z.

        On my worst list...

Prince of Tides, loved the book. Destroyed by the movie.

Didnt appreciate the Prince of War. (Maybe it's the Prince thing? Not a fan of Prince's big deal movie either).

ABSOLUTELY ON MY WORST LIST.. anything with Tom Cruise. The ONLY redeemable one is the Last Samaraui, but because of Ken WannatanIcantspellthelastname... Cruise very nearly destroyed that one too, but I chose to ignore him. He annoys me to no end, and thus takes what might have been a good script and turns it into an hour and forty five minutes of Elvira-nails on the blackboard.

I know what you mean. I think teenagers and 20-somethings find it appealing in part due to its graphic sex scenes. But watching women get raped has no appeal for me.

When I first saw "RainMan" I liked it because I thought Tom Cruise was cute (I was young!) I rewatched it recently, and it was pure torture---two hammy actors with hammy dialogue. It was almost as bad as "Titanic"....

One flew over the Cuckoo's nest is one of my all time favorite movies!

Brother where for art thou? is also a favorite of mine.

I liked Rainman when I first saw it as well. We watched it again the other weekend and you are so right, it was pure torture. Tom Cruise can't act! He's horrible! And the Firm was on yesterday and he's horrible in that as well!

I forgot about Titanic... on purpose, took therapy...

              YES... Titanic was awful.

I also hated the Costner Robin Hood movie, while I loved Men In Tights...

Legends of the Fall and Dances with Wolves hit the list too...

"Dances with Wolves".... Kevin Costner's monotone delivery of his lines was irritating!

MoG: I've re-watched some movies I thought were great when I first watched them, but were quite horrible when I've re-watched them years later. I'll start a thread for that to avoid hijacking this one.

Really disliked Captain Corelli's Mandolin. They turned a FANTASTIC book into such a dreary movie!

Right now am in the middle of watching Mel Gibson's Passion... which so far, I dislike intensely. Boring, boring, boring... but will reserve final judgement til I've seen the rest, this evening.

Loved: 2001, La Vita รจ Bella, Il Postino (The Postman), Billy Elliot, Full Monty, Les Enfants du Paradis (++++) most Fellini films.... and the list could go on and on...

Last night I watched Turtles Can Fly. It was more horrible and depressing than anything I've ever seen. I would not recommend this movie to anyone, under any circumstances.
