  • Computers, houses, Oh My!

Well I have had my fun since returning home from Training in late February. Not only did our washing machine start to leak needing to be replaced, but the very next day after it was put in place. A pipe under the kitchen sink in the next room let go. It took about 5-10 minutes to recognize what had happened and run down stairs to shut the water off. (It had come apart immediately before the shut off valve.) Well, the hardwood floors (what builder puts hardwood floors in a kitchen) were ruined in the kitchen and the living room. Insurance has been great, but the contractor has not. We have been living with exposed underlayment in our kitchen and dining room for 2 weeks now.

Also on top of everything else, insurance paid for ServiceMaster to bring over some fans to dry up the flooring. The fans tripped the breaker, which sent my old computer over into its final grave. OS beyond repair, flaky hardware, time for a new computer. Luckily the new computer is paid for entirely by tax money, which turned out much better than originally expected.

Sometimes normality is just a dream anymore.

empathy in the house ..this past Friday I was opening a can of wood stain (so I could stain the trim of my husbands new office)...with a screwdriver..and a wet rag in my hand...the screwdriver flipped and the rag and screwdriver both caught in the fan I was using for ventilation ....there were sparks.a loud pop...a jolt up my arm that made me want to puke....and I was done

I am on to another room ....

hey KENT check with Service master cause they blew your fuse overloading the circiut. I know a neighboor just cot a freeze full of food paid off by then cause they blew his fuse and just moved their fan plug to a new plug.

"NORMAL" is just a setting on your dryer.

OH wow Kent, that is a nightmare. My prayers are with you and your patience level as it can blow at any time from contractors etc. I can't get any homeowners insurance until my construction is complete. I've lived since July under construction. Last week I got my water service back as my main line broke when they broke ground for the block wall. I have exposed pipes in my walls and windows which are not sealed properly yet, and S. California has been hit with cold weather for the past 4 days. I also don't have a heater as of yet, so I'm using a portable heater. BUT my computer is working fine. If it weren't for this ADBB I would have lost my mind.

            peace and blessings

              Poor you! What a nightmare.

We almost had a similar experience in a reted house we were in. We were just about to set off for a weekend away when I went to the cupboard under the stairs (where the hot water heater was) to get an extension cord for the latop. And there was a BIG puddle, just about to come out onto the hall carpet! We didn't get to go away and had cold showers for 5 days while the real estate agent got off his backside to send a plumber for a new hot water heater, but we were very lucky.

Thanks guys for your sympathies. Sometimes you just have to step away from it. The floor will get done when it does. I can't stress too much about it. The good news I will be paying for an upgrade to tile when it does get here. No more warped floors for me again.
