  • My new Bike (at last)

Got it today - a super ride.

It's a classically built Audax (Fast Touring) Bike.

Hand built to my measurements in Reynolds Steel and Shimano 105 equipped. I am 6 ft 3 in tall with long legs, so a stock bike would not fit.

    Fabulous.

To get a bit more technical it's a brazed lugged frame

    See detail, if your interested

Looks good Brian. Will you be getting a speed / od ometer fitted to it?

Might fit a wireless one - otherwise the wires would spoil the bike's good looks. Some of these cycle compuers have a large range of unecessary functions - all I want is

        how fast
        how far
        what time is it now

And my apologies - I was in Wraxall and Chippenham, but it was a quick dash down the M4 and back home.

(For others, I passed within a mile of Rich's home)

I could do 25 miles on my old bike without strain. This will take me further and faster, so I will work on the distance. It is a real pleasure to ride.

The wireless ones are pretty useful, Brian. I picked up a decent one from Halfords last summer for £19.99 and they fitted it too.

Wow, you were close to me this pm.

Have you still got my mobile number Brian? If so and if you are ever in my neck of the woods again, give me a ring. We could meet up.

Re: My new Bike (at last)

back in the early 80s before the knees said no biking I was a touring rider doing long disatnce trips cross the US so I know how important a great bike and gear is and how a few useless ounces can be a huge issue.
                  Enjoy your longer rides.
