UK law does not require a bicycle to have a speedo, so a cyclist cannot be done for speeding - he can be got for "furious cycling".
25mph would be good on a flat road, but going downhill . . .

I suppose there are some roads that have a 20mph limit, but I cant ever see a policeman stooping so low!
Brian, do you get up to 25 mph on your bike? The most I have really got out of my "mountain bike" is 18mph. But racing bikes like yours are made for speed hence the thin wheels.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!
I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!
I cruise at 18mph on the flat. My bike is not a racer, its a fast touring or Audax bike. Not as light nor as uncomfortable as a racing bike but definitely a "road bike".
It never ceases to amaze me how people buy cheap "mountain" bikes that are good for nothing, heavy and hard work. My bike is a hand built thoroughbred, but road bikes can be had for under £200. I bought a large second hand light tourer which was 15 years old, but hardly used for £80. I will use that for leaving outside the shops. Even on that I can sit steady at 16mph on the flat, and its a good bit heavier.

back in the early 80s before the knees said no biking I was a touring rider
I did a lot of biking last summer and then my knees started to tell 'no' to me as well. I'm wondering what's that because I'm "only" 30 and not overlimit heavy (any more...).
Like the bike and feel your excitement, Brian!

Make sure you have the right sort of bike for the style of riding you are doing.

Yes, probably that is the wrong bike... because it once belong to my brother who's almost 40 cm taller than me (but it was his childhood bike lol).
But I just can't have a new one right now, so my options are no biking or wrong bike... Not that it's important yet - we still have snow and ice and -15C so no biking possible (at least for me).
Thanks for the advice, I'll bookmark the page.
