    Re: Feet question for walkers/runners

I did mention it earlier, and Jim (Jroche) also said it. Its just because of the size of the shoe.

Its not a normal thing for toenails to become unattached.

Hello Joanie, I just wanted to let you know that I too have lost my big toe nail when I dropped wall board on it. It broke way under the skin and took for ever to grow out and when it did it looked really funky. I had to wait and let it grow out some before they would put a nail on but did go and get a fake nail and it looked wonderful for summer. LOL, I like yourself love to wear my open toed shoes and wanted my toes to look pretty. Even to this day that nail does not grow right. It has like thick waves in it so I have to get them done. They file the heck out of and then they are all pretty and ready for my summer shoes. I want to say it cost me around $30 for the one fake toe nail and to beautify the rest of my toesies........ Good luck

Definitely not normal. They aren't disposable. I had to get them bandaged and they looked like little baby heads.

Your shoes are too small in the Toe box I have never had nails fall off I always buy my runners 1/2 size too big to compensate for the movement of the foot when running. If your toe is pushing on anything when you walk or run your shoes are too small and you need new ones.

I had a friend who always bought smaller shoes then she needed cause she didn't wanna have shoes her size she freaked out that her feet were big so she stuffed them in little shoes and now has Bunions 2 nails that will never grow back and screwed up feet from the trying to press thim in ill fitted shoes.

GO and get some new ones that are bigger then the ones you have now walk around the store if you feel your toe at all pushing on the fabric of the shoe or pressing into the end they are too small. In all actuality I am sure they fit everywhere eles just not in the Toe. Do your feet a favour and replace them.

          Just my 2 sence

I am not freaking out because I think you want your toenails to fall off...just because they are falling off!!! OMG I NEVER KNEW THIS MANY PEOPLE WERE LOOSING THEM!!!!!!

I see a lot of serious foot issues at work but loosing toenails is not all that common for me to see..so it is freaking me out you are loosing them!!!

Well John slammed his finger with a hammer the other day and he may just end up with a missing finger nail! OUCH!

I lost my thumbnail last winter after i dropped a log on it trying to stoke the wood stove at the cottage (after one too many cocktails). i was sitting on teh floor leaning on one hand onthe tiled hearth and picked up the log with the other and dropped it right on my thumb. it's never come back in right, it always splits vertically if it gets more than a 1/4 inch long so i have to keep it very short.

Lesson learned: vodka and logs don't mix.

I got my middle finger crushed, the nail on that finger is very flat and wide compared to my other nails--and it feels kinda weird, almost like numb.
