The one thing when I look at Dali's work I can feel what it was like in his brain..sometimes I have the same feelings I could just never get it out on to canvas..but I can put it onto a plate that is for damnn sure

mmm I know what you mean, Heidi... Dali seemed to speak from a place for which there are no words... I love all of his paintings... got to see them in the Rena Sofia museum of modern art in Madrid when I went to Spain a few years back. Talk about a surreal experience. I love so many of his works, but this is the one on my bedroom wall right now and the one that has been speaking to me the most lately.

ok now I am painfully jealous of you!!! I can not even imagine ...

I am so tacky I have to tell you ..sometimes at work I do just check out the free art all over the internet I will put the name of any artist or type of art in and and then just see what the gallaries have for me to look at for free as long as my heart desires!!! I can zoom in on the juicy parts if I want Dali makes a great zoom in btw!!!

..I have a friend that emails me art almost everysingle day there is something beautiful waiting for me in my inbox ...I can tell sometimes by what it is just what is going on it is so fun you should pass that gift on to people ..send your friends links to cool art you like!!!
or just a picture or photo that strikes you ..it can have a powerfully positive impact I think!!!

I have to say one more thing I noticed today and I am not sure I would call them my new favorites although they stirred emotion.... were Akio Takamori's erotic teapots and other pottery...there was not a damnn thing subtle about his art that was for sure

I like him a lot!!!

it is worth seeing "Between the Clouds of Memories" even cheat and look online it is very amazing ...for sure a very calming theme I just loved it all these little dreaming ceramic people in very comfortable positions everywhere ..it was really nice

ok if you are willing to admit in public you looked at that link I posted for the art exhibit I saw today at the Tacoma Art Museum...I want to know what you think!!!
personally ..and because I really want to share this ..I see two distinct artists ...he is very soft and subtle with the individual people he did ..some are very wierd like the blood on the ones head or whatever that was...but the soft statues of the people ..the clothed ones those were calming...the erotica..the pots and teapots and stuff ...some of it was pretty hot and some was a bit twisted for me ..but nothiing really over the top I think?

I would love to hear what other people think about his art I am kind of torn....I think he is diverse !!!

I'm a slut for photography! Edward Weston, Imogene Cunningham, the old f64 club. All the older silvery, velvety photographs. Yummy!

Musicians/Singers - Yo Yo Ma. One incredible cellist! Bob Marley - always makes me happy!

Painters - Rothko. Can't explain it - but it moves me! Reynolds - the painting "Sarah Siddons as the Tragic Muse" at the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA. I have to visit that painting at least twice a year!

God - the greatest artist of all!

Oooo... I love those Takamori sculptures. Some of them twist my gut a little with how graphic and edgy they are, but I think I like it. I like the whole progression in this spread too -- how it goes from some rather benign ones up to some really risque stuff.

Neat! This is my first exposure to this artist. Thanks for posting these, Heidi.

I am so excited someone bumped this thread I knew there were more art geeks here ...I hope it will get bumped again!

1. Stacy thank you for giving me some new stuff to look for and you are right I think God did a stellar job
2. OMG Changin thank you ...art imitates life and life is graphic and edgy ..unless you want to pretend we do not have genitalia and I think some want to and I a cool with that ..but I was beginning to think I was the only one who was getting in to this guy..or this thread it started off and then died ..bummer...anyway..... when you walked into the exhibit it had some of the more intense and exciting stuff then you kind of walked to the calm ...the people were really brought on gradually ..it was nice it kept baiting you to look at the next one ..then back to the intense erotic stuff he is a brilliant artist that is for sure and the more I look at the pictures the more I want to go back and see the details again ..each pot he made had so much to it you could not really see the entire thing in one visit because it is all so overwhelmingly exciting...all this in one room in a gallery and I would go back to just enjoy that one room again!

a gallery of Roy Licktenstien was in the next room and I loved him as well but my husband thinks he is like a "cheap remix band" he takes things like Native American Art and gives it the POP color look and I think it is vibrant and exciting..but then I like remix my husband thinks he was too lazy to come up with his own stuff so he remixed...well you know what that is what most great art is all about I think ..remixing ...like cooking and music ...so take something add your own seasoning and make it your own ...very cool I say
