On the Diana front... can't say I'm a fan of hers, being firmly in the Camilla camp.
Diana seemed to me to have lots of charisma, yes...but to be initially naive, and subsequently wily (when she began to understand her power). She was not an intelligent woman and caused a lot of trouble.
Camilla on the other hand, kept (and still keeps) a low profile and knows how to behave.
'Course everyone's entitled to their opinion and it's hard to say who's right. I read two biographies of Diana, one ultra pro and one more balanced. I know the one that I'd go with any day.
Her death was a tragedy though. I go with the accident theory.

Sorry and no offence meant to anyone, but I think it's funny that Americans have a view that British cuisine is bad. The land that gave the world burgers and Coca-Cola and most of the other junk food.
Yeah snogging LOL
In Ireland, they say "mooching!"
Do all you guys know that England and Britain are two different things?
England is just that, England.
But Britain is England, Scotland and Wales.
And the United Kingdom is England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Hi Sally. I guess I am in the Diana Camp because I do not like the way Camilla and Charles deceived Diana right from the beginning and used her as a pawn to get Charles wed and have heirs. I have read that Camilla was the one that chose Diana for Charles. I think that Diana was very misled by them and its fine if you agree to go along with their plan (Charles and Camilla's) but remember this is someones life and I don't think I would have liked to be deceived in love and marriage, and in such a public way. Also, Diana was trying to do some good for others, even after her divorce when she could have lived a very private life. I don't remember Camilla ever being that involved with charity. I do believe that Charles and Camilla have done as they pleased for many years without consideration of how it would effect others, and because of that, I wouldn't want them to be my King and Queen in Canada.
As you say, we all have our different opinions, and I do understand and respect yours. Of topic, I am very inspired by your Atkins success and so envious of where you live.

President Holmes, its not only Americans, but Canadians, also I have inlaws from former Yugoslavia and Hungary and Australia who have said that about British cuisine ( I have never heard it referred to as United Kingdom cuisine ). The comments that I have heard were that it was bland, overcooked and greasy. My parents are both British and from my experience with them and my relatives, that used to be true. However, as I have stated, I see vast improvements in the last 15 years.
Canada doesn't really have a recognizable cuisine, more a few dishes. It's such a large country that menus really vary from one coast to the other. As for American, I think we are familiar with Tex-Mex, Texas BBQ, Cajun (originally Acadian French run out of Canada), Creole etc, so they do have some interesting spicy types of cuisine. They also, like Canadians have their fair share of junk food.

I'm laughing too hard to read every post so I might be repeating a few.
British associations
the accent- love it!!!
the cuisine- I actually like beans on my eggs
the teeth- I've heard that as well
Monty Python
using the word and American uses to describe a butt to describe a woman's genitalia
Now one thing I was wondering, is do many people group English, Welsh, Scottish, and Irish together as one lump nationality when you're abroad (in the US or Canada, etc)? I have relatives from Wales and Ireland so it's prety easy to distinguish and I've found that the countries are vastly different when visiting. Do many people think it's all the same?

If youread and listen to the book and its advice, you will succeed. Nothing worth having ever came easy. "A stupid man's report of what a clever man says is never accurate because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand." -- Bertrand Russell
Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a
Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish
kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on Japanese televisions.
I read that somewhere.
So tell us about those of us from the US and Canada (cause we are joined at the hip don't ya know.)
